@@johnkatsoudas4767 "That Live In Tokyo show from The Warning tour is PHENOMENAL!! Geoff was insanely amazing back then." Thought you were talking about my number one hard rock singer for a second there... The Warning: Three teenage sisters from Mexico. Their 2nd album, Queen of the Murder Scene, is a concept album/rock novel, which is best listened to in album order because it tells a linear story, and live because of the energy of their performance with an audience. Love Roger, too. However, here is a quote from Roger taken from his memoir ":Steve Marriott, in my opinion was the greatest rock/soul singer we've ever had." Steve was greatly respected by his peers. Roger took care of himself and had a long career, while Steve, sadly did not and was dead by aged 44.

@cindyfalstrom7231
@cindyfalstrom7231 3 жыл бұрын
Steve who!?! You, my son need to go back and listen to the "legend". Steve was the 1st choice of Jimmy Page and Tony Iommi for Zepplin and Sabbath (he turned them down). Bowie, Daltry, Plant, Townshend, Keith Richards have all stated that he was the best blues/soul/rock singer UK ever produced. The younger up and comings idolized him - Ozzy, Paul Stanley, Stephen Tyler, Sammy Hagar, Chris Robinson, Steve Perry, Bryan Adams, Jack White, Paul Weller, Gallagher Bros. have stated in writing that he was their hero. When your favorite, Bon Scott died, the AC/DC boys wanted Marriott to replace him, but by that time, Steve was deep into his own addictions and was so rude and insulting to them that they changed their minds. You certainly have a right to your opinions, but please have a good listen (any albums from Smokin and Performance - Rockin the Fillmore backwards. Later albums aren't as good sadly). Even further back to Small Faces -who hardly a soul in the US knows- Steve's voice is amazing. Listen: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqGTm41qd6yoetk This was 1966 when Steve was just 18 - what a voice. Robert Plant certainly liked it and copied it for Whole Lotta Love. Steve was like a comet, a bright light that burned briefly, then sadly burned out and came to a sad end. Rock on Steve. RIP

@@cindyfalstrom7231 Thanks for reminding me why I don't like Led Zeppelin. And I'm glad he didn't replace Bon Scott in AC/DC. Bon was an aggressive singer, was a bit bluesy sure, but most of all he was a hard rock singer. That Steve Mariott was just a blues singer I guess. But I am not very familiar with Humble Pie so who knows.
@cindyfalstrom7231
@cindyfalstrom7231 3 жыл бұрын
@@lucasbeer353 Although Steve Marriott was a very soulful blues singer, Humble Pie was a rock band and Steve was every bit as aggressive as Bon (and he played guitar while doing it!), no disrespect to Bon intended. Before you judge them, you really ought to listen to them so you will know what you are talking about. Take a couple min. to watch this YT video of a live performance of "I Don't Need No Dr.", which is the song they always closed their concerts with. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5i6oqWGaJWMjrM If you still don't like them, so be it. Ate least you tasted the Pie! I'd love to hear your opinion.

@@cindyfalstrom7231 I love that song 'I don't need no doctor' but in this version kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXusiK2oh7Kih7s However it's really nice that Humple Pie decided to pay tribute to the mighty WASP! Ha! I've got a feeling that Steve Marriott was overreacting. He was more bluesy that it was actually needed. And I'm not a big blues fan.

@@lucasbeer353 THANK YOU for sending me the link to WASP (I had never heard of them). OMG - they were hilarious - not sure if they were meant to be - I am obviously not a fan of the Big Hair Heavy Metal Bands. However, credit where due - they did a good job with this cover. All it needed was a little blues thrown in - haha. You are probably aware that Humble Pie were covering the Ray Charles version which was MUCH slower and bluesier. This old geezer appreciates you showing me something new, however, I'll stick with the old timers thankyou! Nice talking w/you....
