They still make monster farm games for japan only, but when Tecmo created Monster rancher EVO and shipped it world wide, it failed because it was bad, they threw out everything that made monster rancher, monster rancher and replaced it with paper thin characters with a laughably bad story. When the game failed Tecmo thought the series was dead here and only released Monster Farm games in japan from then on instead of realizing they fucked up and shipped us a bad game.

You absolutely get a like from me for adding the SMT series. I have been looking for videos to give these games the exposure they deserve, and you wouldn't believe how little people even know about this series. I would say start with SMT 4 on 3DS. Though it is tough as nails, it seems like the most "user friendly" of the bunch. Or just pick any persona game from 3 to 5. All of them are stand alone, so no worries on missing anything from previous entries.
@GCrAnViMaOtaku958 жыл бұрын
An interesting fact about the Digimon games is that there are kind of 2 series that can be considered something of the main games which are Digimon World and Digimon Story. What makes this funny is that all the world games for the DS are actually Digimon Story games and became associated with Digimon World do to the name changes for the North American versions. The only exception I know of is Digimon World Championship which belongs to neither series like Digimon World Data Squad game on the Ps2

Pokemon fan here.. Monster Rancher 2 is hands down one of the most addicting non online games I ever played. It's incredibly different from Pokemon, from it's battle system to how you obtained attacks and combined monsters, and there was such a great feeling knowing you could use your family's old collection of CD's to see what monsters came out. They were called V-pets, but yeah, basically tamagochi. I miss the Digivices they made to go along with the first 4 seasons. They basically worked like pedometers that has a chance of your Digimon coming across an enemy to battle or item to help along the way. Usually there were a few mini game options, but only one of those was actually entertaining with each version. Think of it like the PokeWalker essentially, but with color options and no outside source required for the creatures inside.

i have an idea for potential game makers. it's a game taking place after an event called the collapse where monsters reappear after years of being seen as myths, the object of the game is to capture monsters and rebuild society. you can fuse or evolve some monsters as well as hunt, gather, scavenge and cook food for your trained monsters. most monsters in the game are completely based off mythology, folklore and urban legends, while some monsters are sci-fi or original. the last feature in the game is fetch quests.

as an RPGist i LOVE the Monster Tamer sub-genre, and i feel that while Monster Rancher 2 was probably BiS i think that there is some merit to the GBA titles and the DS game of Monster Rancher, because you dont need to have rare one of a kind discs to complete your encyclopedia, it's all doable in game. sure you could do some of that via unlocking monsters for disc regen, but you still needed to be a collector of music to find every monster.

I just want to correct some things in the video, and I'm sorry if anyone's already made this comment. I hope this comment doesn't come across as rude either. 1. Tamagotchi is still a thing in Japan, and you can import the newer models. The graphics and characters have been updated, and you can do more things with your pet as well. 2. Monster Rancher 2 was for the Playstation, not the PS2. I remember it not working on the PS2, actually, because when you tried to put in a new disc to see what monster it would produce, it would just go to the CD player. Sadface. 3. Yo-Kai Watch has two sequels to the main series in Japan, as well as many spin-offs, and I'm pretty sure the second game will hit the overseas market some time in the Fall. It may not be too popular overseas since some people see it as a Pokémon rip-off, but it actually strongly competes with Pokémon in the Japanese market. Seriously, they have Yo-Kai Watch cereal, fish cakes, tissues, toilet paper, all alongside the Pokémon versions, and they sell just as well. Also, Japan was like the only country where Star Wars: The Force Awakens was not number one on its opening weekend because the Yo-Kai Watch movie was number one.

JADE COCOON. Jade Cocoon was a PS1 game that I played the hell out of as a kid. theres 2 games that come to mind, they arent really monster taming games, but more like monster breeding & gathering, castlevania curse of darkness for ps2, you had to get certain crystals by using a certain weapon type to evolve them to go through the evolution tree, & certain monsters, aka innocent devils, had their own abilities, the other was final fantasy tactics for ps1 you could get certain monsters by talking them into joining your band of fighters, kinda like taming, after which they would at certain times lay eggs & there was a chance to get a different type of that same monster with its own abilities, this included the chocobos, anyways they were fun to mess with & gave these games something extra to mess with
@brandonbevill9729 жыл бұрын
a) tomigachi and Digimon are the same franchise, iirc. b) how could you have them both rated so low, considering the above?? c) slime rancher's great, but it's still early access... that's alot of pressure you, and the whole community, is putting on this series... why so high on the list, when there's just as good of a chance of development coming to a screeching halt? d) I agree completely with smt being number 1. just figured I'd throw that out there to balance out my negatives lol.

A game I never ever hear mentioned is Puzzle and Dragons Z for the 3DS. I personally loved it despite it being a match 3 game at its core. The art style is really nice and there are rpg elements to it. The story isn't all that but I love the monster collecting and evolving. Sometimes there are different types of evolutions depending on which fragments (I think that's what it's called in the game it's been a while) you use to evolve. There is of course also the Mario version right alongside it which is nice but I have to admit I spent way more time in the Z version.
