Very interesting and cool list! Best year for horror of all the genres. The Substance was my favorite of the genre and then Oddity and Longlegs. My top 5 of the year though are Dune: Part Two, Furiousa: A Mad Max Saga, Civil War, The Substance, then The Wild Robot. I still have so much to see though. If you haven’t make sure to check out “Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person” as that’s my favorite under-seen film of the year.

Loving that Sutter Caine shirt! My favourite is Nosferatu. I know - recency bias - but it is the only movie I saw this year that makes me want to dissect the movie scene by scene, shot by shot, and ti dig into the lore. It was a lot of fun!

I still need to see several of these (and others like Oddity and Nosferatu), but I personally enjoyed Late Night with the Devil and the Substance both a lot better than Longlegs. They were both so unique and creative. I personally found Longlegs to be pretty simple, slow (the second act), so bleak, and I found the ending to be quite unsatisfying. It was good, but not great, IMO. Did you ever watch Silo Chris? I saw you mentioned it on your podcast with the Ruby Tuesday but never saw you release any official reviews! I am almost done with season one and am really liking it! And, it just got another two season renewal from Apple.. carrying it through til its final season 4! My favorite teacher of all time, a high school english teacher, would mark a red liine through any word he felt I was overusing, challenging me to come up with a different word or term the next time, to add variety. In the case of this video, 'haunting' would be the word he would have red-ink-penned. If that hadn't been drilled into me, I would not have noticed, but now my brain is trained to pick up on things like that.

I’m a huge Wizard of Oz fan - I grew up watching it every year around Thanksgiving and even though I mostly watch horror movies now I still watch it a couple times a year - but I could not even come close to finishing Wicked, I tried twice and got maybe 30-40min in.

Im not a big fan of horror movies anymore. But Long Legs grabbed me and wouldn't let go. Smart and spooky in a great way. Not crazy about the ending, but watching Nick Cage made it all better.

No particular order but I'm sure there are films I missed because of limited showings: 1. The Substance, 2. Abigail, 3. Dune II, 4. Strange Darling, 5. Late Night with the Devil, 6 .Killer's Game, 7. Furiosa, 8. Conclave, 9. Oddity, 10. Nosferatu. Good when movies evoke a reaction. There were 2 movies I saw with a decent crowd where you could feel the audience silence at the end. Longlegs and Late Night with the Devil. Longlegs the general vibe was " What did I just watch mostly based on Nic Cage's performance".😅 The Damned will be my first movie in the theater of 2025. I
