I lived in El Salvador from 1976 to 1977. Returned for two weeks in 1993 so we could show our children where their mother grew up. Haven’t been back in 30 years. So much has changed, so dramatically, at least what is shown in the video. I wonder if the small towns are as modernized, or if there is still the extreme poverty I experienced. I have visited many of the sites mentioned in the video. They look so different now. There weren’t so many modern tourist destinations when I lived there. I certainly hope the country, the people have progressed as the video seems to suggest. ❤

This video couldn't be further from the truth when they stay EL Salvador is a blend of Spanish and AFRICAN. El Salvadoran culture is actually Spanish in heritage. I have read that for a period of time they did not accept black people in their country. My suggestion is that this KZbinr should educate himself before posting his videos .

*Friends: The word "Pupusa" originates from the native Natuatl language. The language, to include its subgroups was spoken in Meso-America; Southern Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador (by Mayas, Pipil tribes, Aztes, and others). Albeit the exact/precise origin is unknown, it is believed that its roots are founded in the word, "Puxahua" ( meaning "fluffy or puffed up" ) in Nahuatl. Also see: "Pupusawa" and "Pupushaua." To expand on it: It's a combination of the word, "pop" (i.e a "sphere") and the word "utz" (meaning "good thing.)" Accordingly, we have the word, poputz >>>> which becomes "pupusa" when the Spanish conquistadors changed it's name to fit the Spanish language. In sum, it's a very ancient pre-columbian culinary tradition, one that predates colonialism by over TWO THOUSAND YEARS IN EL SALVADOR.* My parents are Salvadoran, and I have a renewed interest in learning Nahuatl and an interest in the historicity of my ancestral homeland. Cheers.
