I agree but test drove a new black convertible Corvette yesterday and it was awesome! 2022 2LT loaded and priced at $82k… $90k out the door. I drive a 2023 Miata RF GT. The Corvette was amazing but $90k vs. $35k! The manual Miata is sooooo good!!😊

We have owned 3 generations of the Miata but found the new generation to small for our needs and have moved the the new generation of the BRZ. An amazing fun to drive sports coupe with so much cargo carrying capacity for long trips. Seating is much more comfortable than any Miata we have owned and the new 2.4 litre engine has more power and torque then the Miata with a fabulous manual shifter. Just love it ❤️

Miata ND2 (but the RF) was also my choice. Very cheap, very low TCO, fantastic reliability (0 issues in 4 years, despite being driven hard, track-days included) and lots of fun! The LC is something special - but as a GT -, and the GR86 only if you cannot enjoy a cabrio. Finally no Korean clunkers 😉

I own a gr86 and an ND2 Miata (2021)…..the only two cars on this list that tip the scales under 3,000lbs (the 981 boxster I had prior to the Miata was 2,910lbs but it’s since gone slightly above 3k). I love them even if you ignore the affordability and reliability factor. Between the two of them, I prefer the gr86. Some good machines that also occupy this list, but large and heavy (regardless of the power output) gets old pretty soon into the ownership experience.

Totally agree 100% on the Miata. Owned one. Addicted for life. But I also love the simplicity and liveability of the Nissan Z, but only with a manual. However, I'm not sold on the over-the-top (to me) bulbous styling of the Supra, which is a total turn-off, stylistically.

Value for dollar, you can't beat the C8. I've had mine for a few months now and it is a great ride. Leave it on Tour mode for a smooth and comfortable cross-country ride or switch to Z Mode with Track transmission when you want more power or for some aggressive *ahem* I mean "spirited" driving.

Great comparison! How would you compare the Honda S2000? I own one for more than 10 yrs. Love it still and very reliable. Pity Honda doesn't make them anymore... My choice of your list would be the LC500 (but so expensive).

The S2000 is a great car. Still has one of the best shifters ever made. The new MX-5 is now very close to it in terms of power and overall feel. It is the brand new equivalent.

The Miata is about perfect as a driver’s car, but alas the platform is too small for larger drivers. I’m 6’-6” and I physically can’t fit comfortably in the car.

Interesting that many people don't mention new BMW Z4. Isn't it a perfect combination of Toyota Supra and Mazda MX-5? Because I wanted go to Supra but with top down. What do you think about BMW Z4 M40i G29? And what can you suggest me in my situation? My budget is 60k USD MX-5 isn't for me because of slow automatic transmission(don't want to go manual), too girly and not enough power for drifting. The Supra is almost perfect for me, just need a top down experience

Z4 BMW. M40i could have been in there, although it is same platform as supra, only with with 50 more HP. Car n Driver rates it at 0-60 3.5 seconds. Great roadster.

Where you get your info? Supra and z4 2021+ Supra not 2020 have same hp Same torque and Supra is slightly faster definitely not 3.5 to 60 more like 3.8 3.9

Should be the RCF/TE instead of the LC500. Don't get me wrong LC500 is a great grand tourer that does very well on streets, but the question is about Sports cars and the LC500 is furthest thing from it as it inherited the RCF engine, but it is a much bigger, heavier and softer car. RCF out performs the LC500 everywhere by a mile due to a much better power to weight ratio and much stiffer and track focused handling and cooling capabilities that allow it to practically hot lap all day without overheating or complaining. RCF is more than half a second faster to the 1!4 mile. A a high performance F car, RCF competes with the Mustang GT and not the LC500. While the LC500 is squishy and rolls everywhere when the chassis is challenged, RCF feels way sharper, precise and planted with a, stiff chassis and suspension. Again, given all of the other cars are high performance cars that fall in this category, RCF is the truly qualified car here while many of quality, reliability, durability, fit, finish, luxury still apply to the RCF. A stock RCF track edition also lapped the Nurburgring in 7:48 with a non-pro driver, which shows its track prowess

Had a 2021 Miata GT. Nice car. Always trying to kill you when you push it. It’s not a real sports car like a Porsche. But that’s ok. A bit boring. Too slow. Claustrophobic inside. I’m 5ft 8. Passenger floor boards are kinked upward by design on the left foot of the passenger. My wife 5ft 2 hated it as her legs ached on trips. The Nav is useless and a mess. The whole interface is old and buggy. The paint chips way to easily. For the money it was fun. But it’s not as great as you think if you own one and actually drive it. Pony up for a more upscale conv or buy used. You will be happier.

Any sport and luxury car have high maintenance cost. A Lexus LS won’t cost less than an S class to maintain. When people talk about Toyota reliability they are talking about Corolla and Camry.

@@manofsesame3024 Kind of yes and no, High end sports car like McLaren yes. mid/low end cars like the Supra? no, its more the problems stem from mods (especially hp mods, the engine can only reliably deal with so much power, this one peaks at around 700 HP) or people not knowing how to properly care for a higher HP/turbocharged car (the usual culprits in this case) The B58 is an amazing engine and shouldn't easily come into problems unless you're slamming it directly after startup and not allowing it to warm up or not letting it cool down before shutting it off. Granted, the parts are more expensive than a Corolla or a Camry.

No one is paying a hundreds of thousands let alone millions for that junk unlike the Porsche and Ferrari market. Current high end model Porsches sell for as much as a million on an MSRP of 300 -400k.
