The corset snobs need to shush. It doesn't matter where something comes from, how much it was, if it has a fancy brand or took two hundred years to hand craft from the rarest leather by monks in the highest mountains with secret witchcraft that only five people in the world know... smh. It looks lovely on you and I wanna see pastel steam punk please.

If your a bigger person and using a corset for its actual intended purpose the quality of it is something to care about. But she's just using it as a fashion piece so I agree that it matters less. Once you've tried a real corset though theres no going back to the cheap stuff though.

Alright, about that steampunk corset. I'm a steampunk and quite frankly, price should never matter! I went to a steampunk convention in clothes from H&M and Wish. It works. Corset snobs are just that, snobs. And that comment did nothing but tarnish an amazing community. The steampunk community is open-minded and kind. We do not put each other down because of what items we wear or use. I would alter the chest straps a bit to sit better on you, other than that, it looks great on you! And if you are comfortable, that's all that matters. Keep up the good work and don't mind the snobs. Also, as a side note, have you ever heard of Pastel Goth? I think you should look into it and perhaps try a steamgoth haul thingie at some point!

Definitely get the lamp rewired for safety purposes. Also, once you do, you can put a color changing LED bulb in it and change it to pink, blue, purple -- whatever you want, really. The white is perfect because it will just reflect whatever color the bulb is.

I brought all my appliances from New Zealand to Norway and just changed the plugs. They are rated for the same amps. The radio she bought from Wish was probably for 110/120 that they use in the US. I had a small electric typewriter from the US in the 80's that I used just a power converter for and it blew. Ex-hubs was something of an electrical engineer, so I took his word for it. 20 years later and I still have the coffee bean grinder and the sewing machine working perfectly fine.

📺Watched a YT doc about the amazing Coco Chanel. She attended a boarding school where they all wore uniforms. It was run by nuns📿 -- and not the loving, kind ones portrayed in film. 🤓Her uniform differed slightly from other boarders. It denoted that she was an impoverished student. It set her apart from children of wealthy patrons. All the subsequent bullying about class differences made her stronger -- and instilled a desire in her to succeed. 🤔Those early days also were said to influence her desire to create an elegant fashion suit for women that would appear ageless as well as classic. She wanted it to serve the purpose of a uniform. She had an unconventional life in an era where women were largely cosseted and raised to be 💍wives|mothers🍼. Where family connections, ancestry, & wealth were 🗝key to making a union. Living in poverty was not her ideal, so she went onto become mistress to a variety of high society men. Although her 💕heart did become fully engaged to these rogues a time or two, she was never considered proper marriage material💔. However, the truly powerful men she had affairs were not the typical aristocratic dilettantes of the day. They were impressed with her business acumen, and as a result they were willing to💰bankroll her efforts to create a ✒House of Couture✂️. She did build up a cache in some of these elite circles based on the social elevation (& popularity) of her lover. It helped that she was smart and savvy. Plus, she possessed sparkling wit and style too. She used her experiences in these blue-blooded circles to create fashion that would appeal to those same upper class ladies. Coco Chanel did not lead a charmed life, but she did persevere & find success in the end. 😉The rest, shall we say, is history.

Cornucopia comes from the Latin cornu copiae, which translates literally as "horn of plenty." A traditional staple of feasts, the cornucopia is believed to represent the horn of a goat from Greek mythology. According to legend, it was from this horn that the god Zeus was fed as an infant. Later, the horn was filled with flowers and fruits, and given as a present to Zeus. The filled horn (or a receptacle resembling it) has long served as a traditional symbol in art and decoration to suggest a store of abundance. The word first appeared in English in the early 16th century; a century later, it developed the figurative sense of overflowing.

The glass cornucopia lays flat, is part of why it’s confusing. Cornucopia is the horn of plenty. It symbolizes the harvest and abundance. It’s actually shaped like a goat horn. Generally flowers, fruit and corn are put in it.

😉 She could use picture wire to attach 'em firmly to a thick nautical rope knotted on both ends. The orbs can be attached in intervals. Hung above a picture window with cup hooks to secure. Drape or don't drape as is her preference. 🐚Although I'm in the latter group. 🌊Think it could give a elegant & charming coastal impression straight -- as almost a beaded fashion trim. Instead of all drapey or scalloped giving off a more shanty seahouse impression🚣‍♀️.

Yaaay! Alex, I know your Mum is camera-shy, and that's ok, but I loved the sleeve on her Christmas Dress! I loved everything, but Dan and Sam acting rowdy at the end of your Guest Room Thrift Flip was hilarrrrrrious!

My top 10 list: 1) That gorgeous green jumpsuit that Dan picked out for you. It suited you very well! 2) The tiered wood plant holder. Such a lovely mahogany color and nice carving details 3) The corner plant holder that matches your tiered plant holder 4) Your purple felted mirrors. They look so soft and cuddly and remind me of calico critters 5) The adorable little pink frame with gold metaling. I audibly gasped when you picked it up and am desperately manifesting one to show up in a local op shop 6) The infamous uranium glass vase! I think its' flat shape is so lovely and I love how geometric it is. And for sure the journey it's been on has been entertaining🥲 7) The brown shorts from your academia haul. They look amazing on you! 8) The Madeline dress. It's a real beaut, and you look wonderful in it 9) All your gold mirrors! I find mirrors a little creepy, but there's no denying how artful those frames are And lastly, 10) The booger mirror. Please paint it orange 🥲

I love how you imagine the history of your thrifted pieces, I do the same with almost all of my items. I recently found a beautiful small old brass hand engraved vase that has no markings on it as to who made it or where it came from and I’ve imagined a hundred different scenarios of its history 😆

I truly enjoyed your Thriftmas series. I binged watched them while doing my holiday baking and cooking sessions which made those tasks seem less like a chore! I love how you decorated your guest room and dining room; you did an awesome job!!! I've not often gone into thrift stores but I did decorate my house with a lot of garage sale and yard sale finds, so I can relate to going on treasure hunts for those unique items.

Alex, About to blow your mind about The cornucopia. It is most likely not intended to be a vase. It you lay it in it’s side you will see that the feet and the lip of the cornucopia are level as well. If you google cornucopia you will see pics of how we use it in the US, with fruits, veg, etc spilling out of it. It indicates an abundant harvest. So much that the horn can’t hold it. All 25 days watched and enjoyed so much. My fave thing is something you did not buy but it appeared in the recap of funny things. It is the retro limey green ceramic deer. So kitschy and cute- and it was square! I moaned out loud when you didn’t buy it. So many things in my top 10 - way more than ten. My favorite part of thriftmas was going along with you to the thrift. I used to enjoy estate sales so much when I was able to get out and do it. Now that I am no longer physically able to do that, you have taken me on a month long adventure in Australia!

@@KitsuneAdorable yup most of my favorite tv characters as a kid were redheads ,PepperAnn ,dexter blossom Kim possible, and a number of others. It probably all so was because my older and favorite niece was a redhead & so was her mother and grandmother ( my oldest brothers daughter )
