Alright, you can't title the video "Top 10 BUDGET Custom Keycaps" and then just have the sets get more and more expensive. Maybe my definition of budget is different or something but I wouldn't consider anything over like 50-60 dollars budget anymore. There are so many good sets in the 20-40 dollar range that I just can't make myself buy expensive caps sets anymore.

Budget is so such a subjective term that I include the best in every budget price range based on each market and individuals inside of this. Drop DCX keycaps are budget when compared to GMK, while $30 keycaps may just be too low quality and below what some people consider budget, or it may be the complete opposite (10-5 sets). This is a range of what I believe is the best value in many different budgets.

These are budget. Sometimes for better quality you can adjust what you’d want to spend. The low ones were ok and the midrange ones were way better than the cheap ones without hurting your pockets with so many different customizations. Great video!!!

What exactly are you smoking mate? $40 isn't budget, that's just what a normal set of keycaps go for. Lots of stuff you can find go below $20.

I have YMDKs and they are great, but if you have south-facing LED's, I would skip the darker keycap options from YMDK. Note that everything is oriented for north-facing; the symbols are all on the upper half of the keycaps, especially on the number keys and punctuation keys. The shine through will be very muted and the contrast is very hard to see on the darker keycaps, even in low light.

Just want to comment that I am currently using the Akko V2 smoky black translucent keycaps (#5 on this list) and I'm so torn on them. On the one hand, the look and the sound of these keycaps are AMAZING. I have these paired with Ajazz Kiwi tactile switches (which I hand-lubed) in my black Glorious GMMK Pro and HOLY CRAP does it sound incredible. And I agree with Los... the look is absolutely gorgeous -- especially with a uniform backlight color or even with the LEDs completely off. I will literally sometimes just sit and look at my keyboard, it looks so good. But even with all that being said, I'm not sure how much longer I'll keep these on my daily-driver primary keyboard. I just can't get over the slick feel... personally I love the feel of a nice textured PBT keycap, so I'm kinda meh on the way these feel to type on. And then there's the really weird thing -- for whatever reason, Akko omitted the usual little raised bump on the F and J keys. For a touch typer, this is surprisingly hard to go without.

@@Soberdodo I'd say they're just OK for gaming. Not to keep harping on their omission of the raised dot on F and J, but the lack of that dot has caused me to frustratingly hit the wrong keys when mid-game. At least for me, that would definitely make it hard to recommend them for gamers who depend on knowing which keys they're hitting without looking at their board.

Maybe they’ve fixed it but now but the keysterines have trouble with spacebar warping. The set I bought 6 months ago has moderately bad soacebar warping. Just FYI for anyone interested

EPBT ABS ~$50, PBT FANS~$75, 21kB XMI~$54, NicePBT~$75, CannonCaps~$85, . You forgot a few :) I know theses are mostly higher end on the price spectrum, but these are all much better than everything you mentioned besides DCX and you could probably argue that they are all similar quality to dcx.

man i really hope you included the 21kb/xmi keycaps because they're cheaper than some of the options here ($65 a set), have really good compatibility with multiple different layouts, really decent printing and they're some of the thickest pbt caps with a really wide range of sublegend choices + they're beige which is always a plus for me

As an Akko keycaps user, their keycaps actually shine very fast even though they are PBT doubleshot. I have Blue On White, Macaw and Black & Cyan sets. They all have the same quality that started having shine marks within just a week of daily use (for my experience). After a month they will lose texture and have the shine of ABS keycaps, which makes their set feels like they are not PBT but ABS in disguise. Even some ABS don't shine that fast. I did some google search and found out it's normal for Akko keycaps to become like that. I expected better for the price. Love their profile and colours, but very disappointed in the quality.

Hmm I have the Akko Tokyo world tour set of keycaps and they've only developed a bit of shine on WASD and the shift key after a year of regular use if not a bit more than that.

I’ve heard that PBT does eventually shine, but only slower than ABS. How quickly Akko keycaps shine sounds a LOT quicker than it’s supposed to for a PBT set. I’ve also heard that PBT is UNGODLY hard to mold, so keycap makers use a mixture of PBT and ABS. If that’s the case, then Akko’s PBT mixture probably has too much ABS or use it on the outer layer, where it can be the most noticeable.

Same here. As well the Epomaker keycaps, unfortunately. And yeah, it is almost as if they are ABS disguised as PBT because the shine spot from finger placement happens to me just in a couple days.

I think their newer keycaps (mostly the ASA profile ones) shine faster. I have both their old Cherry profiles and their newer ASA ones and I notice a difference.

Any long pole switches will work so just figure that out. There may be very few non long pole ones that have new design preventing interference but just search for reddit posts/yt vids to check anything

I think the radiant reds, rose reds, and silvers are guaranteed to have no interference because of the shorter travel distance.

@@jonathanhom2038 All Akko and KTT switches should be long poles. Also the thicker the cherry profile keycaps the more likely there will be interference, but there shouldn't be any no matter the thickness on most long pole switches.
