@Christian Ball Don't look a gifted horse in the mouth right? Not really my grandparents gave me their old 2008 Mercedes A-Class with 87.000miles I junked it 2 1/2 years later with 103.000miles cause I had to pay 3.000€/ 3500$ in that time for repairs just to keep it running. I stranded twice because my alternator got bad or my v-belt ripped, my car turned off while driving because of the stupid ignition that no longer regognized the key and on top stuff like my heated seats, power folding mirrors or the (manual)transmission no longer worked or have been on their last legs. Especially here in Europe in my case Germany people think they get a good daily when they buy a used Mercedes for 9000 - 10.000€ and it has around 65.000miles on the odometer. But more than 84% of the germans junk their cars when they hit 200.000km or 120.000miles a record most americans would laugh at ^^

I'm missing the car already although I drive it once in awhile. Looking to buy a RAV4 this week.. Despite everything online pointing towards the CRV what features an engine and stuff. But reliability? Good, but people point out Toyotas got a little Edge there.. Just don't like the dash on CRV. That's about it.. Plus kinda Toyota family anyway.. Because of reliability

Lincoln Town Car! Mostly bought by older people, I see people having their same Town Car after 10-40 years. Surprisingly they last forever for being American/luxury car. Most Town Cars go over 300k-500k miles. I just bought a 2001 with 186K on it. Nothing wrong mechanically at all. Just a bad driver window switch and the air suspension of course needed to be replaced, cost $100. These cars are classy, powerful, comfortable, quiet, and a dream of a ride. Besides lack of power and technology, can't be compared to even today. And this is coming from previous owner of Muscle cars, hybrids/EVs, and imports. The Lincoln Town Car is a great car from an era long gone.
@franz42946 жыл бұрын
You have consider the number of fleet sales. Town Cars were heavily used by limousine services, and even though they last and last for many miles, limo fleets aren't kept as long as personal vehicles.

@eman08286 жыл бұрын
I don't think "Air Suspension" would cost only a 100 bucks to fix. Those systems are rather expensive and complicated. More like a money pit for an old car like that. One air shock on a Mercedes is like $1,190 a peice! It requires reprogramming the computer to recalibrate the Air shocks.
@givesyouthechills6 жыл бұрын
Eman 08 Air bags for Lincoln Town Cars are only $50-100 each, and the compressor is $100-200 if that goes out, mine was okay. It only has rear air suspension, and no computer changes to get it going. You just turn off the air suspension via a switch, Jack up the rear, unplug the bag from the hose, unclip the plastic keeping it in place, and do the opposite to put in the new one. Make sure it's sitting on the axel right, Jack it down, turn on the switch, the computer senses the bags are empty, and it fills back up. That's it. Everyone knows Mercedes are money pits. Bad reliability and expensive imported parts at an artificially inflated cost due to brand image. Goes for most luxury cars.

Wrong, that would be Lexus. I mean sure the parent company is Toyota, but the models that are exclusive to Lexus (LS, IS, GS and variants) are overengineered, but in the good way..not the German way of doing things overly complex simply because it's fun to design🙄 Lexus models are also assembled with more fanatical attention to detail and slightly imperfect cars that would pass muster on a Toyota assembly line get sent back by Lexus quality control.

I had a Subaru Legacy 3.0 RS. One of the most reliable and cost effective cars I've ever had. It never broke. My wife took it from me when she buggered off or l would still have it. What a lovely car that was, but now I'm on my own I don't need 3.0ltrs. I have a Toyota carolla 1.8 now. Huge mpg and very reliable but characterless. The only thing that saves that department a little is that it's a manual and that wee engine is a full blooded tryer.

I had a Subaru Loyale for several decades that I gave to my daughter when she went off to college. The car was older than she was but super reliable. The only downside is the older ones tend to drip a little oil on the driveway. Took it to several mechanics and none could get ride of that slight oil pan leak. I just learned to live with it. Great, reliable, long lasting cars.

91 Corolla. 403,000 miles. Totaled by a person running a stop sign. I did brakes, cv axles, and struts multiple times. The two major repairs I paid a mechanic to do were the clutch and a head gasket. Bought new, sure was economical to operate and maintain. Miss my Corolla.

Owning a Toyota is a total opposite of what American brand owners or buyers or dealers' philosophy is, i.e. driving new car every 4 or 5 years and being tied up to a car payment for life.
@abuelb6 жыл бұрын
Joe E. Agree, I had no car payments for 11years, my 2002 Toyota Celica with 369,000+ miles took care of me good and it's still my daily driver. Aiming for 500,000 miles.

I leased a 2001 Toyota Camry & loved it! But, when the lease expired in 2004, they wanted $11,200. to buy the car, which I felt was too high & turned in this still new looking car! I then bought a new 2004 Toyota Camry, which I still have & it still runs & looks great after nearly 17 years! But, I still 'pine' for that 2001 which I feel was the more beautiful of the two! GREAT CARS!

I love how this video was straight to the point and didn't waste time telling us every little thing about each vehicle. The list was not much of a surprise. I have an 09 Camry with 265k and it's doing fine.
@gregg47506 жыл бұрын
No Camry, Corolla, Accord or Civic. With the exception of the Avalon and Prius, all the cars on this list are SUV's, Minivans and Pickup trucks. It's not that the Camry, Corolla, Accord or Civic are not as reliable, the owner's likely didn't find them as practical after many years of ownership. The cars in this video are from the era when SUV's started to take over and became a more practical buy. People who get pickup trucks usually get them for work, therefore are not likely to replace until their pickup breaks down.

My Ford F150 1997 pick up broke the frame in 2015 when I drove over a typical manhole cover on a well maintained road. It totaled the truck as it cost more to fix than it was worth. I will never buy a Ford again. Apparently they stopped making solid steele frames and started using thinner high tensil steele to cut down manufacturing costs. They used to make great trucks, not any more. Ford is now a case study in how to take a great company and run it into the ground and alienate your customers.

Toyota doesn't manufacture batteries, so even if that is true, it means the battery manufacturer built a crazy good battery.
