+Hyena Media It was relevant before Olivier took over. It became relevant around 2008 with Christophe Decarnin, before that it was a relic. But I agree that Olivier is beyond tacky. He isn't known for his design as much as he is known for hanging with the Kardashians and having millions of instagram followers. I think for modern designers it should be Nicolas Ghesquiere, John Galliano, Raf Simons, Alber Elbaz, Alexander McQueen, etc. But I know that the ones on that list won't be accurate either.

Sterling Ross I Like Olivers message more then I like his clothes, they are a tad tacky, but fact remains, he's a black designer, and he is one of the first to be world renound successful, and in the racist world of high fashion, you take what victories you get, in terms of social progress

I don't think his being black necessarily makes him a good designer. I mean, I admit that he is gorgeous (or he was before he started sucking in his cheeks to the point it looks like his throat is a vacuum. Giggity), but him being black doesn't make me think of him as an actual designer. His success is based more off of his instagram followers and "army" than it is the actual clothes. The clothes are just ridiculous. His aesthetic of more isn't enough can be done right (in the case of most of Versace or Lacroix's work), but instead of being tastefully tacky it just looks cheap. I will say though that the prices at Balmain have drastically decreased since he got there. When Christophe was there they were selling shredded t-shirts that looked like they had poop smeared on it for $1750.

I don't think Gucci Gucci should be on this list. He wasn't a designer. He created a brand, not a design house. If this were a list of Top 10 classic brands then Gucci should be on it. The only reason Gucci is known for their clothes is because of Tom Ford. Also, Yves Saint Laurent should be much higher than eight. He revolutionized fashion. Ralph Lauren should also not be on the list. He's more of a lifestyle designer than anything else. Cristobal Balenciaga was one of the greatest fashion designers of all time (Dior called him "the master of us all" and he was Hubert de Givenchy's mentor). He also is the one who created the sack dress, not Givenchy, so he should have the number 2 spot (I prefer Dior but I think Dior should be #3 and Balenciaga should be #2). Halston and Charles James should also be somewhere on this list.

Sterling Ross house? What in the world were you even talking about? Also, this WAS a list for the top 10 classic designers that really revolutionized the fashion world. I do not think that you knew at the time of writing this topic, enough information to back up your claims. The bottom line is Gucci Gucci has indeed revolutionized today's fashion world in ways more than one. Whether that is under Tom Ford, or his predecessor before him, does not matter. If someone expands on a brand then it is only right to name the created and first designer as the "genius," "true creator," etc. etc. as you are taking someone's ideas, and then using those ideas to create your own line. It is very important to follow this, and to always give credit to those that inspired you.

Louis Vuitton should have certainly been on the list, it's a classic and one of the most prosperous fashion house ! But Gaultier started in the 80's so it may be considered as modern in Watchmojo term (we will see with the next video)

+Fragr. Granade Louis Vuitton never designed clothes (not even handbags for that matter) so he's not a fashion designer, let alone a "Classic fashion designer". The ready-to-wear collections were launched at the end of the 20th century to feature the handbags, after the house was bought by Bernard Arnault. Know your fashion history people. Jean Paul Gaultier would have deserved to be there, especially since he was a contemporary of Gianni Versace, who is on the list. He introduced the notions of lingerie being visible or worn as proper clothes, gender confusion, multiculturalism and a more "childlike" playful attitude towards fashion.
