Actually most of the MGS1 codecs in the second half of the game is what gives life to the game, and for me the codec essentially gives the vibes from the point you beat Raven. First, "Master" tells you about something not quite right with Naomi, and then (if my memory of the sequences are correct) through the optional calls, Colonel is implied to be doing something behind, and then Master mentioned FOXDIE, and then the Colonel placed Naomi under arrest -- all these while you are busy learning from Octacon about that silly shape memory alloy and discovering that Liquid survived the Hind D crash. Then while you take the elevator to change the key temperature, Naomi secretly calls you to confess and reveal everything about her relationship with Gray Fox, Big Boss, and that FOXDIE was from the start a part of the mission, just to be interrupted by the Colonel before more is revealed. This is made even better when you still have some distance to think about all these things on your way to the PAL room to finish a mission, with the feeling that something is lurking behind. Then of course the revelation at the end from Master was most striking. All these time I had the feeling that I am but a small part in a huge plot of darkness

@@RRM693 Yes, and while I am generally happy with the better TTS graphics, the insertion of hot and cold pipes at the Rex hanger certainly removed the tension from contemplating what's going on while you are making your way to the PAL Room

My favorite codec will always be 11:50 MGS2 that one really messed with my head a lot it gives me goosebumps just listening to how accurate this is and it was made in 2001

Will be nice if you would insert the optional MGS1 call where "Master" mentioned that Snake and Raven are related due to Snake's half-Japanese heritage, and as Snake mentioned that he did not remember telling Master of his Japanese heritage, Master just cut the call. Also in some optional calls, Master would urge Snake to input the hot PAL key, with Snake reacting that Master looks excited.

Absolutely love the games and the codec calls always have a special place in my heart too.. It's hard to pick a favorite really ... tough lines like these in the video I keep listening too even after playing through them like a hundred times.. (they hit really hard...except the funny ones but those are great as well) * during any metal gear solid development * Kojima: Alright Alright enough with these test runs.. I get its a serious game with serious topics in a dark tone however I need somebody to really test the game about flaws, things that could go wrong and stupid sh*t * some runs later * Team: Do you want us to fix this things? Kojima: Hell no, I need to you to make it more obnoxious and make codec calls about it!

I kinda think it depends on the criteria being used. Quiet is amazing, but a lot of that is because she's got the same parasites as The End that allows her to do all the stuff he did. My favorite is Quiet, but I think the best is The End. Dude is so in tune with his mission that he will literally DIE from natural causes before he completes it if you take too long to take him out in MGS3. Sadly, I never got to play MGS4 so I don't know enough about the Beauty/Beasts.

Interesting, when you take Quiet to mission Mission 28 Code Talker, if you order to attack by just receiving 1 shot from the Female Skulls she will be send to motherbase. Pretty sure she could be killed by the Skulls.

I guess because it's not even an MGS game (although it was originally supposed to be called MGS: Rising), and its canon status is still unclear to this day.

It's up to the player to decide if it's canon, regardless of Kojima. MGS Rising was set in 2012 and had Raiden going after the body of Big Boss for EVA and I guess Sunny for Snake.. Raiden gets captured and made into a cyborg ninja by the Patriots, then escapes and goes cyborg nuts. It was going to be a great game until Kojima got in the way of it.

@@aleisinwndrlen7113 Its only unclear to the group of fans that thinks that only Kojima can make canon sequels. A hubris that ignores the fact that Kojima was trying to pass the torch the rest of his staff (How we even got Rising started in the first place) and that Portable Ops events like Ocelot getting the other half of Philosophers' legacy is still referenced in MGSV. Its one of the two canon spinoff games, just not part of the first story arc, instead taking after it. (hence the term saga)

And all of MGSV is non-canon, regardless of Kojima. Big Boss became at odds with Zero and abandoned Zero and his Patriots in 1972. Therefore he would not agree to be duplicated by Zero so that he might hide away in the shadows somewhere. After the credits in Metal Gear (1987 MSX2) Big Boss is heard saying that he is alive and will never die and vows revenge on Solid Snake. Three years later Metal Gear 2 was released with Big Boss alive and well in his new Zanzibar Land, four years after the destruction of Outer Heaven. All of MGSV is a lie.

@@subtegral MGSV is completely canon, its just a retcon. Just like how Dr. Clark and Sunny was mentioned to be male but both turned out to be female. Besides Big Boss being Venom in MG1 makes the shift in personality less jarring in MG2 onward.

Hi, I watched your video "Ground Zeroes - The BIGGEST LIE in Metal Gear History" and I want to share my thoughts (maybe this is not the place, but I want you to notice) - you noticed that the date in the passport of Big Boss is 78, so the scene of Ocelot and Big Boss takes place in 78, logically. But who was Ishmael then? What if it's not the Big Boss, but someone... well...someone he could trust...maybe it was an Ocelot with a bandaged head and the name Ishmael? First of all, I want to say that maybe I'm crazy, but we know that Ocelot is voiced by Troy Baker and in the scene when Ishmael shoots at Volgin in the hospital this is the only time where we can see his eyes And THEY LOOK DAMN SIMILAR TO TROY BAKER's EYES, I would say they are literally taken from Death Stranding, where Baker played Higgs...and I noticed their similarity even before watching this video Secondly, it would explain why Ishmael attacked Quiet in the hospital from behind in such a ridiculous way, not using CQC. And thirdly, about the voice that Ishmael is voiced by Sutherland - the answer here is simple - well, how can you trust the hearing and memories of a man with shrapnel who suffers from hallucinations? :) P.S. my theory is died...We seen Ocelot and Ishmael in one scene...

Is big boss' name Jack or John? This frustrates me so much! EDIT: Nice collection of codec calls, but, not by any means the most iconic of the series, apart from 5, which i think it should be number 1... And about the Master Miller/ Liquid conversation... Of course Snake did it all by himself! Liquid himself fought him in a bloody Hind D on the top of that tower! Did he lose on purpose? ...and ALL the bosses, does that mean they where easy on him? Also, he survived the involvement of the ninja... and the list goes on... The very fact that he was USED by the enemy, and was LITERALLY BETRAYED by his superiors, is in of itself, a PROOF that Snake did it ALL by himself and then survived after completing the MISSION and ALL the objectives, PLUS, he saved MERYL and Hal!
