Squad leader and ASL are daunting. You’ve caught my attention with RichardIII as well. Great looking map for a War of the Roses campaign.

Glad to hear it! Combat Infantry might itch the scratch for you. Lots of replayability and scenarios!

RIII is fantastic. Best War of The Roses game ever. Go for those convert nobles. +1 to you and -1 to your oppo. That's a +2 swing. Sweet. Love RIII. Always down to the wire whenerver we play.

Thanks for the ranking! 36 year-old newbie here, with an occupation so life-invasive my significant other and I barely find the time to play boardgames! Should this come to the ears of the people at Columbia Games: Please come up with another card-driven block game, no sieges, no special rules -in the likes of HotS and Julius! We have a small group and everyone agrees those two are CG's finest and most compatible games for anyone who can barely spare an hour here and there to indulge their tabletop kink!

I'll pass it along! :) No sieges is pretty specific. What bothers you about them?

@@CastleArchon Maybe because the maps don't leave much room for blocks to be positioned for a siege combat, my group found that aspect of Crusader's Rex a bit messy and technical. For whatever reason, we loved that mechanic in "This War without an enemy" from Nuts but perhaps it is because there are many more rules and although technically a block wargame it is not in the same "fun but deep league" that CG has been dominating. Hammer and Julius are exceptional games. With every game, it amazes me how deep they can be while amazingly simple. If you can, try Robin Hood by Worthington. Your first play will have you think Robin Hood has no chances of winning. Your 2nd play will have you shout the game is broken and the Sherif has no chances of winning. Your 3rd play will have you place it alongside HotS and Julius as the top 3 block wargames ever known to mankind!

Great video. Columbia Games are my favourite board game company. Before Christmas I got their American Cival War games. Absolutely fantastic. Everyone of their games brings something new to the table. Wizard Kings is one of my favourites, so am hyped about the new Ancient Kings Treasure Chest thing. Got to save up for that. I want to get the Combat Infantry games they look amazing. Victory II looks good too. Their multi-player bundle is good value, but I am only ever really going to play with 2, so I hope they do a bundle with the base game, extra maps, Germans, US and Ruskis with maybe the utility block thing. So many great games so hard to choose what to get next. And of course, Alliance is started to accelerate along. My local UK FLGS is hopefully getting that. Love this company. Nice people too. Always helpful.

Thanks Jon! I usually play with two max on any boardgame although I always dream of an 8 player grand game.

So we know when the new Julius ceaser will ship ? I just love Columbia

is the Quebec 1759 reprint (the '50th anniversary edition' fell through) completely dead, or still possible? Is the Wizard Kings penny-plus-shipping solo sampler dead (can't find it on the site now)?
@CastleArchon10 ай бұрын
Quebec will be a thing! We had to delay because of Alliance (which the map is finally done!) The WK penny deal is done.

Love the games but the maps are always tiny. I download and get them reprinted much larger. I printed JC 33x70.

A good idea. They do have high res PDFs that they sell for $8 for that very purpose. secure.columbiagames.com/ec/process-order.pl?ec_m=cg&ec_c=default&ec_cb=10bd66479ff60007af16

What's the game at #11 (you know, the one that should be #10)? Julius Caesar and Julius Caesar late pledges should be combined... they're the same game!
