Some games have a fun cameo or easter egg that nods to another franchise, but here in my Top 10 Crossover games we are looking at games where the crossover characters share equal spotlight. And when a game gets it juuuuust right, it can turn out amazing. Some of the most common are fighting games like Smash Bros or Marvel vs Capcom. But in my Top 10 Crossovers, I think there will be a few you'll want to find and play.

Project Cross Zone 1 and 2 exist. They are literally about industry wide crossovers. It has Sakura Wars characters, stages, and music in it. Easy #1 material.

The ending didn't really bother me. It's pretty much in line with the other Layton games, where the solution is often way more absurd and convoluted than the mystery itself. But that just adds to the charm in my opinion.

I do wish Sony would take another shot at PSAll Stars. There was potential there but it needed more content, a better roster, overhaul the gameplay. Also why does a Sega mascot fighter not exist?

Did you know? Sumo Digital said that Sonic and Sega All Stars was supposed to be a mascot fighter, but Sega declined the offer and told them to make it a kart-racer.

You might want to check out Super Robot Wars T on Switch, the asian region version has an english option. Its like instead of fighting, Smash was a Tactics game. And instead of video game characters, it was anime crossovers. They even have greats like Cowboy Bebop.

Man. I spent so much money on marvel vs capcom whenever I'd go on vacation with a friend of mine. We would go to a bayside resort, and instead of enjoying the beach and other stuff, we spent half the day in the small arcade they had, and half of that time was spent pwning noobs and then each other in mvc and subsequently mvc2 when it came out. I feel bad I kinda grew out of fighting games, but the nostalgia is real and means a lot to me.

I hope you cover the crossover series that Project X Zone spun off from: Super Robot Wars. Three of the main titles are available in English for PS4 and Switch, you just need to import them because of copyright issues. Also don’t worry about unfamiliarity with some of the series, the game provides good explanation and context for references.

One of the best crossover IPs in my mind is "Super Robot Taisen". An SRPG series based around taking (generally) mechs from multiple different series and throwing many of them into a single package. But it is very much a niche series, not to mention a complete licencing nightmare which has kept it primarily a Japan only series. So it wouldn't be a surprise if Jirard hasn't even heard of it before. But hey, at least "Project X Zone" got a spot, which was made by the same developer in fact. Heck, they even are tangentially related in a very odd way.

Think another crossover that deserves more love is the SNK vs. Capcom series, especially SvC2. Sure, it's not as big and flashy of a crossover as Marvel vs. Capcom but the games are still really fun and the two company's characters just blend together so naturally to the point that you could even forget that it's even a crossover.

I had a feeling that Kingdom Hearts would be in there somewhere. I just hope that KH4 and the "Foreteller Saga" brings in some more Square RPG worlds to balance out the Disney side of things. Having Sora clash with Kefka in the World of Ruin, or help Crono and co hunt down Lavos, would be a breath of fresh air after KH3's overuse of the Disney side of things.

One of my favorite crossover series' is the Super Robot Wars series. It is a crossover of all things mecha, like Gundam, Gurren Lagann, Evangelion, and Zoids, played in a tactical-rpg style. The game even features obscure franchises like The Big O. The most recent game even has Cowboy Bebop representation. The more recent games are able to be played in English by getting them through Play-Asia, for those interested.

Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright is legit one of my favourite 3DS games. It's so much fun and the aesthetic is completely unique to that game. I'm a HUGE fan of the Layton games, and they really nailed that aspect of the game, with the convoluted plot and the incredible mystery, and the twist they put on the Ace Attorney formula is so clever and it works so well. They're two very different series, gameplay wise, but they're blended so effortlessly together. It's actually brilliant.

Great list. I would have had the Sega Superstars/All-stars games, in particular the racing games on the list, but great video nonetheless. Love Smash Bros and KH and the Injustice and MvC are great fighting game franchises. Although as a slight addition if someone hasn't said so already, Project X Zone is between Capcom, Bandai/Namco, and Sega, with Monolith Soft characters as well if I remember correctly. I think a couple Fire Emblem character too? May be mashing a dream game of mine together lol. I would love to see Mario and Sonic in their native game genres for a crossover, but how that could work is beyond me, though 3D World and Lost World at the time shared much similarities where I could see those styles mesh

I think you mean Taisen, or more simply, Wars. But yeah, I agree with you there. Considering the series has enough games and original characters, that they effectively were able to cross over with themselves? It definitely warrants a mention. For those that don't know, imagine a good 10-20 mecha/sci-fi anime being put together in a single setting, add an original character and villain faction to act as a viewpoint and a final boss, and set it up in a Tactical RPG, and it's pretty frigging sweet.

Hey Jirard, I'm glad you mentioned Super Smash Bros. since you didn't include it on the list. I think everyone knows that Smash Ultimate would be number 1, what with the fact that TONS of franchises are represented in it. It's the king of all cross-overs. Great video!

Project X Zone and Marvel vs Capcom series are my favorite Crossover games, MK vs DC was a good game too, but the Cowabunga Bitch was hilarious as hell 🤣🤣🤣

Honestly, I was thinking "Professor Layton VS Phoenix Wright _better_ be on here." And I was not disappointed. No spoilers here, but I suggest playing it when you're in a mentally good place (if you're super sensative to the darker tones) cuz the first chunk of the game had me f***ed up...

My best friend has Mario and Sonic Winter Olympic Games for the DS and I am the champion at Skating (speed, figure, dream etc.) we play it all the time but one day she asked if I could try to beat the story mode. Oh my god that was so hard! I made it to the third world with Blaze and Silver wanting to challenge me and I couldn’t get past them. I want to give it another shot though, but I already gave it back. The party games were a hit and miss with me, one was really fun then one was really bad and then one depended one was just weird.

I think it is good Playstation All Stars never made competition. Cause then they would've just been NUKED by ultimate and their hopes of competition would be obliterated faster than galeem killing everyone but kirby.
