+TheStupidTriforce The thing is, real Mega Man games ARE a bit too hard. They feel easy for fans of the series because we've been playing them for so long. Mega Man Unlimited was very challenging in its earlier builds, and each revision seemed to make things a bit easier. Well, sometimes the Easy Mode made things harder for me as what I thought was the easy path was blocked by new platforms and stuff. XD

"Mijinion" is a derivative of the Japanese word mijinko, meaning water flea. More specifically Infinity Mijiinion bears resemblance to the daphnia genus of water fleas, so a proper translation should have been Infinity Daphnion or something. X6 was not localized very well.

Fun fact: he was originally called "Nitro Man," as the game began production before Mega Man 10 was announced (and was _actually_ under the working title of "Mega Man 10"; screenshots from it were even accidentally used by Capcom as promo material for the real Mega Man 10). When 10 was announced, the developers had to change the name.

If there are any Megaman fan-made games I can recommend, it would definitely be Megaman 8-Bit Deathmatch. It's a Megaman game....And it's an FPS. And you can use all sorts of neat powers. Like the Top Spin, which can be downright devastating!
@Aldenfenris7 жыл бұрын
On a note, you forgot to mention, on megaman rock force, the latest version when you beat a stage, you 'rescue' one of the robot masters that were 'kidnapped' in the story, and from now on, you can select them as your character to play as instead of megaman. They... have their special attack, which might or not use weapon energy, and sometimes have special skills like wall jump, or a shield, or special movement abilities, like wall jumps, or climbing walls (well, sort of). You select them on the bottom left option of the boss selection screen, the 'team' option, if you have the latest version. It's not 'amazing' but can be fun to use them. Do note they don't get any other weapons than their own, nor rush or tango

That's somewhere between Zillion II: The Tri-Formation from 1988 for the Sega Master System (they did that first with Apple and Champ), combined with the gameplay style of Double Dragon III: The Rosetta Stone for the NES, differing only slightly to where you had to beat the character first to play as them later (like Chin and Ranzou)

It baffles me that some people just don't understand basic game design. All you have to do to be better than half the people who make fan games is show how to use a new mechanic. That's it. Bonus points if you don't have to have a message and instead get the player to figure it out through the level design. Example: In Metroid, you get the morph ball. It doesn't tell you anything about it, but you can't jump back out the way you came. Thus, you spam the NES controller's buttons until you find out you can morph into a ball and exit through a tight crack. That's good game design. After that, just have a bunch of people test your level, and adjust the difficulty.
@pit26437 жыл бұрын
And this misunderstanding is exactly why many bad MM fangames exist. It's understandable why people end up making such bad fangames, because they are all like "Woohoo, I'm making a fan game! Better put in my potentially good ideas in before actually inserting the essential basics!". Thankfully, most of us only remember the good ones, which included the ones mentioned here, among some others.

I've never supported the idea that Capcom hates Mega Man. The games had been dropping in sales, and most fans didn't care about the more recent games outside of 9 and 10, so from a business standpoint it makes sense to put the franchise down for a few years to keep brand integrity. After all how many Mega Man fans have even played anything outside of the Classic or X series?
@EpicMarioPlayer7 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I really love the hell of everything except for the Battle Network and Starforce that I couldn't get too much into, although I enjoy the few games of those series I played. But I think it makes sense for the hiatus, Street Fighter had a long hiatus from SF3 until SF4, only with some re-releases of old games and some characters appearing in crossover games from Capcom, like Capcom vs (Whatever). Sounds familiar? Yeah, I'm pretty sure we will see our blue friend sometime again.

It's really kind of sad that those two were the only ones that most fans cared about. MM9 and MM10 were little more than lame Megaman 2 remixes. I'm sorry but it's true! A Megaman game in the late 2000's that doesn't feature the slide nor charge buster? Get the fuck out of here with that shit! I'm really hoping that all of the nostalgia pandering has been gotten out of CAPCOM's system. I've longed to see a classic Megaman game that actually takes what MM8 did technologically speaking and expand upon it.

Pharaoh Man.... Y'know, when I was a kid Mega Man 3 was as far as I got with the series. Oh, but I wanted to play the next games! Especially Mega Man 4. Because I saw Pharaoh Man on the cover, and he looked like the most awesome Robot Master ever! Well, I didn't get to play it for various reasons. I grew up. But down through the years I always had a tiny little corner in the back of my mind where I said to myself, "If I get the chance, I'm going to fight Pharaoh Man." And, of course, that chance eventually came! The Mega Man Legacy Collection. I played through the first three games just to prove that I still could, and I played through 4 just to the point of fighting Pharaoh Man. And I did, and I beat him. And the fight wasn't anything spectacular. And I knew it wouldn't be, I mean, I knew what to expect by that point. So I wasn't upset or anything. I was just glad that I'd finally cleared out that old corner of my mind I mentioned. Then I see the Pharaoh Man of Minus Infinity. And there... there's the Pharaoh Man of my dreams. Just good to know he's out there somewhere.

My favorite fan made games (because Capcom has buried him underground): 1. MegaMan Unlimited 2. MegaMan Rock Force 3. MegaMan Super Fighting Robot 4. MegaMan Eternal 5. MegaMan 2.5D 6. MegaMan Revolution (currently being reworked) 7. MegaMan: Revenge of the Fallen Each of these games brings something new to the table along with that old feeling of playing a MegaMan game. if you love MegaMan, try these out if you haven't already.
@nickpeck456111 ай бұрын
Yeah. Revolution was rare that it was originally made with Clickteam Fusion instead of Game Maker (the game uses MMF2, while most use GM8.1 or GMS), and the remake is called Revolution Remix, being made with Construct 3, a browser-based game maker. Revolution had long stages, and Remix fixes these by shortening them. There's also bonus stages in Remix that are crucial to the game, as they contain Evil Energy, the stuff you need to collect to access the second fortress stage (yes, the game also takes the Gimmick! route of collecting secret items to reach the secret final stage(s) and the True Ending and giving you the Normal/False Ending after Wily's defeat if you don't collect all of them).

You forgot Megaman 8 Bit Deathmatch. Sure, it's a multiplayer FPS based on the Doom 2 engine, but it is a ton of fun and it's been made with lots of love. All the Robot Masters from MM 1-9 are in, as are the ones from MM&B, the extra ones from Wily Wars and the Megaman Killers, there are weapons based on Proto Man, Bass and Duo, there is a full campaign including some tough boss battles, all the stages feel true to their 2D equivalents, all the weapons are distinct yet true to their roots, the music is great and it has full bot support and a massive suite of options. Plus it's free and you don't need Doom 2 to play it since the game runs on the free Zandronum version of the engine. All in all a fun experience.

Also, did you know that after you beat the eight Robot Masters (JWN-01 to 08) in Rock Force, the select screen changes and reveals five more to tackle (the first four are different depending on the last one you beat, the fifth is always the same, giving a total of nine). They are Terror Man, Thrill Man, Plague Man, War Man, Thermo Man, Power Man, Port Man, and Flare Man (JWN-09 to 16). You have to tackle Doom Man (JWN-17) last after beating the first four. FIghting Pulse, Fuse, Photon, or Circuit Man last will make you have to fight Terror, Plague, Power, and Flare Man, while fighting Crypt, Virus, Shock or Charade Man last will make you have to fight Thrill, War, Thermo, and Port Man. Kinda increases replay value, making you want to beat the game again to see the other four's levels after you beat the first four. Unfortunately, they don't give you their weapon when defeating them. Even better, there's two more Robot Masters during the five Justice Fortress Stages: Fish Man (JWN-18) and Polar Man (JWN-19), giving the total of 19 Robot Masters, the most in a fangame.
@nickpeck456111 ай бұрын
Also, there's some other good fangames you missed, like Revenge of The Fallen, with long stages with tons of branching paths, and the scoring system from Mega Man 1. It also has an intro stage, 10 Robot Master stages instead of 8, a secret Bonus stage, and eight (count it, EIGHT) Wily Castle stages, making a total of 20 stages in the game.

I'm sad he forgot the part about how in Rock Force, you can actually play as the Rock Force members you rescue throughout the game, after every boss you beat. That's one of the best parts of the game for me, and it's so optional you probably won't even notice it. Each of them plays suuuper super different and it's so cool. Rock Force is easily like... tied with Minus Infinity for my favorite entry on this list. ... Meanwhile I'm so upset Unlimited gets first billing because that game is honestly extremely bad and not fun to play when you actually look at it analytically, but eh. No list is perfect.

Mega Man Unlimited was frustrating when I beat the first robot masters and moved on to the Occupied Willy stages. And the secret boss. Wiley Stage 4 was really the most frustrating part of the game, with the back to back boss battles and little room for error. And then, I beat the game. I then used the unlockable character to "bend the game's difficulty over my knee and spank it with a hot frying pan" as one article on the game I read stated. Fun times, and I would love it if you managed to make a complete review of the game. P.S. Trash man along with most of the BOSSES in Fighting Robot were easy as pie with the charge shot. Conversely, the stages were insane.

The first three times i tried to play MMU i just couldn't even defeat Nail Man, some time later i got "skilled" enough (i don't think it's skill, i just learned to be smart at Mega Man and not just rush blindly into things without paying attention to the environment) to pass all NES games with a beat of ease excepting some stuff like MM5 and 4 castles, i really got better at MMU. It's really more about playing intelligently than being skilled with the controls. Rainbow Man isn't actually that much bullshit. If you get how the layout of the screens works and have some good reflexes, you will make it through the most of the screens. You learn how the reflecting things work before getting into those "if you make a mistake you are dead" rooms, and if you shoot one of those quickly once you get into the room, it won't make you anything... although they won't stop being "make a mistake and you're dead" rooms. So, it's not that much unfair when the game already gave you some rooms where you won't get hit to learn the level mechanics... So, yeah, it's trial and error design, but one based on learning. Also, Mega Man has always been about trying stages until you get to one you can pass and then find which boss is weak to that weapon and that stuff. "if this stage is so fucking hard, maybe there's some weapon or item that will make it completely easier", and there you have YoYo Man's weapon.

The thing that really puts it over the top is that it does the Day in the Limelight thing as a New Game+ mode, which not only lets you play through the entire game as any one of the Mane Six (i.e. robot masters), but is very well-balanced around that fact despite how differently they all play. It's definitely something I'd recommend.

Surprised you didn't mention the coolest part of Rock Force: once you beat a Robot Master, you can play as the Rock Force member you freed from that level!

I think A Day in The Limelight was actually pretty great. Guts Man felt unique and the level was designed around his movement and abilities, so it didn't feel bothersome. Also, his second level is very cool. I feel like you've a bit too much nitpicky in this video. Not saying your opinions are invalid, since I feel you value something else entirely in a Mega Man game. About Mega Man Unlimited, if you stop to think about it using weaknesses once you've figured them out isn't that much different from an easy mode. There's no shame in going about the easier way, and I really recommend you play the rest of that game.

I thought for sure RockmanCX was gonna show up. You play as Wily's fake megaman, Gutsman captures you in the intro and you switch to playing Quickman to save him. The bosses include Kamen Rider, Bomberman, Megaman, Mario, Whispy Woods and a hacker that uses savestates and swaps your health with theirs. It's an NES hack with is kind of unbelievable.

for quickmans level in megaman ultra, get the ice bubble, top spinner (air man), and time stopper before going in. its the hardest level in the game so get to it when you're more equipped.

To answer the questions Dookieshed put into Google, Capcom didn't hate Megaman. Keiji Inafune leaving utterly crushed the devs. It took a long time for someone to say "Hey guys, let's do a new Mega Man game."

I don't think you gave Super Fighting Robot a fair shake. I know you tried several of the stages, but if the ones you mentioned are the only ones you tried, then you chose some of the harder ones in the game. I know for a fact that once you get your first new weapon the game becomes much better. Plus, I the game has quite a few methods of making it more fun to play if it's too hard, such as the armor upgrades and the bonus disks. I hope you give it another shot, because it really is better than I think you give it credit for being.

There is one fan game that I recommend is called Rokko Chan. It's a girl megaman but she also knows how to slide and it has it's own set of robot masters.

unlimited is so tough. My english teacher actually challenged me to beat it. It took me forever, but I eventually managed to do it. I really like that game.

i have a dream mega man in mind. a new concept with familiar elements. keep the zero~esque art style and a mild metrovania gameplay. where some bosses can be blocked off by power ups and others easily reachable. keep the boss number around 16 to 20. and no boss rush. build on story. ideally make it as a sequel.to the zx series and prequel to legends. that in my view is the perfect gift for fans

I know those are way more fan/specific stuff but I also recomend Megamari(touhou megaman) and Fegelman(Hitler parodies megaman)And though actually an official game Magical Doropy is also good(but frustation levels are very high)

Dang, you didn't play Megaman Perfect Harmony?! That's literally one of my favorite Fangames ever, if you have the chance, you definitely need to try it with Nate. The Multiplayer makes the game amazing. It's a lot like Megaman 2.5D, but with more characters and upgrades.

Megaman Unlimited is honestly my favorite Megaman Game (though I'd most definitely recommend Easy for first play-through).
