Seinfeld set the standard for modern day dark humor with its brilliant, comedic writing and perfect cast of characters. No other comedies at the time were uncompromising with their bold, hilarious take on real world dilemmas. Refusing to become a stretched out emotional event for the audience and instead always remaining pure to making people laugh. Seinfeld is the greatest sitcom of all time.

In a lot of ways I feel like Seinfeld was used the as a blueprint for what would eventually become It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the characters are even similar except they’re taken up to 11 in some cases. Dennis is practically Jerry but is much more of a sociopath. Dee is Elaine but with an inferiority complex. Mac is George and shares so many of his characteristics it’s insane. Frank and Charlie share Kramer’s role split down the middle, Charlie is the more spontaneous side while Frank shares his fondness with her rich quick schemes but is much more successful in his endeavors!

Worst episode on Seinfeld is the ending. Am I the only one that is bothered by the fact that 4 people were arrested, tried and sent to prison because of their bad Attitude?! How would they fair in prison? Jerry would get shanked over his Wiseass mouth, George would be passed around like a pack of cigarettes, Kramer would have thrived and Elaine was pretty tough, she would survive.

#9 during rehearsal Brian Cranston got the idea to take a hit off of the nitrous as an ad lib and it broke the cast and crew. #5 because Larry David took the finale, all the other writers that worked on the last season got “The Puerto Rican Day” and it may have been a case of too many cooks. #1 While she’s a great actress, Heidi Swedberg struggled with comic timing. The cast started to hate working with her, so in a during a table read for a later episode Julia Louise Dreyfus said “Why don’t we just kill her.”

I can’t think of any show except Seinfeld (not counting cartoons where characters don’t even age) that has gotten away with their characters staying the same for nine seasons, never having any character development, and never ever wanting to grow as persons (mostly because they never considered that there was anything wrong with them 😄)

Elaine did not stay the same. She got more and more bitter as the years went on. It was very realistic.
