You couldn't save anyone, really. You could only save Kenny and Jane because they were the strongest. The way Nick died was the one that pissed me off the most, you just randomly find him dead stuck in a fence. You couldn't even know what happened. Carlos's death was stupid as well, random shot in the neck.

The thing in Episode 4 though when he acts like a baby wanting to save his dad did made him bad but he apologies in an Optional conversation. I think Clem might kiss him in my Alternate playthrough though because I'll go down the Jane route so I can save the Alone ending for scumbag playthrough.

Sarah's character was a huge waste of potential. She had all this buildup and a chance to connect to Clem on a more human level, but she's just thrown under the bus and immediately forgotten about.

+PlanGretti As opposed to who? Bonnie and Mike who betray you? Luke who abandons his watch to have casual sex? Kenny in his increasingly violent state of mental instability? Every other adult in season two expects Clementine to move mountains on her own, while Sarah was just another kid looking for a friend in a horrible situation. Season one knew how to pick up on that theme with Clementine learning from Lee, while season two just drops it for nihilism's sake.

YorkJonhson The adults do that because they(Telltale) want the player to actually make more choices that matter with Clem being a child. Every other character added something positive to the group, while Sarah did jack shit. Of course the characters have flaws, that's what keeps the story progressing, but Sara did nothing that mattered, whether it had been positive or negative. That's why people didn't like Sarah because that was the first time a character was truly a liability. Hell even Ben added something that changed the story. Her deaths in both ways did nothing, nobody missed her. I do agree, that Sarah was waste, that's what TT wanted.

+PlanGretti In a story about people from all walks of life, making a character more competent with a gun doesn't automatically make them more interesting. Sarah gave Clem medicine against her father's wishes, showed signs of wanting to learn how to survive, and was one of the few genuinely nice characters in the whole season. Her story arc didn't have any satisfying closure whatsoever, but I blame that on the writers, not on the overall idea of her character.

The biggest problem in season 2 is definitely most characters having wasted potential. Even nick had it bad. He had so much potential to be man who everyone thought he lost it after Pete's death but manages to redeem himself in some way but he either dies in episode 2 or survives, doesn't speak in episode 3 and just dies off screen in episode 4

The most messed up part about leaving Sarah to die in the trailer is that she doesn't look scared, in pain, or even relaxed to be released from the hellish post-apocaliptic life she led. She just seemed confused, like "Uhhh, what are these things?" "What exactly are you doing?" "What's this red stuff?" "Why won't you let me up?". She literally didn't even know what hit her. Pain and fear only set in at like the last few seconds of her existence. All that time she's denying reality, smart move considering the walkers were already on her. Not so smart to freeze in a trailer swarmed with zombies, but sheltered teenagers. Not even that, some people speculated that there's something deeply wrong with her, my uneducated guess being PTSD... from the instant biters became a thing (Carlos was talking about her "ceasing to function" before anything really too traumatic happened, as if that was her condition possibly before the apocalypse). Being held hostage by the antagonist of season 2, being brought back in her old jail, forced to work, seeing a man get thrown off a roof because she didn't do gud and seeing her dad get shot and eaten alive tend to pile up.

I feel like the slapping option was there because it reminds Sarah of Carlos. If you remember, in episode 3 Carlos slapped Sarah to prevent Troy from doing it. I think she thought if it as her dad trying to protect from the walkers beyond the grave (?). Anyways, I agree with you. They should have made it so Clementine taught Sarah how to survive more in each episode so by the time episode 4 rolls around, if you keep her alive, she knows what to do and can be a useful character. Overall, they did have a opportunity to show progress (albeit limited) and how Sarah could have changed around Clementine.

the most disappointing for me was not taking the medicine from Arvo. First time i played the game, i did take the medicine and figured Alvo was pissed at me because of it. However, the next time I played I wanted to see if he would have treated me a little different by not taking the medicine. But..... no difference! Not only did I not take the medicine, I was nice to the little jerk, I even defended him against Kenny (who I love!) but still Arvo was dead set on hating me. i really dont understand why they offered that choice if the outcome would be the same. The dude even shot me! I was like, "what the heck! I was nothing but nice to you". the only thing i could think of as to why he hated me was because I shot his sister when she turned, but she was already dead! Why would he be mad at me over that! In fact, I even saved his life in the process. Ughhhh so yea, it really sucks when you make a decision in the game hoping it would affect something but it actually doesnt. I hope Telltale changes that a little for season 3. I still love the game though and am excited for season 3!

telltale games often gives the illusion of choice. What you do will change how things happen, But not change what ends up happening itself. Only rarely does a decision change the future significantly, Like when you decide in season 1 whether so save Ben from falling to his death.

Improper character development, probably. Some characters are written with an arc involving emotional trama. It's not really an appealing style of writing for a character arc but from a perspective of Sarah's point of view, she loses her dad--the one person protecting and giving her moral support. People who deal with emotional trauma suffer with social anxiety and the trauma in itself is not only painful but can be also psychological. It's actually a very complex character to try and understamd or relate to if you've never experienced trauma yourself. Point is, some people can't. They don't have the patience to deal with these kinds of character arcs.

This choice is semi-bittersweet, as while it’s more tailored to a first play through, it’s still a brilliant choice as depending on who you managed to get to come with you, then you can get lots of different dialogue, also, as it is tailored to a first play through then those who do cut Lee’s arm off do so in hope of his survival, not knowing that he will die either way.

That's the big problem of Telltale and The Walking Dead in Season 2. The characters motivation and personalities are so inconsistent that it feels really disappointing when you see that don't matter what you do, you can't change anything. Of course we know the game can't set paths too far from its original course of development, but in Season 2, you actually feel like all of your decisions were shitless to the story plot. Even the last one, that looked like a major choice, will not matter since season 3 will take on a time period that has passed several years and Clem is now grown up.

Another decision I really hate was in the beggining of Season 1 Episode 3 where Lee has to decide wether to shoot the bitten lady to put her out of her misery and get the walkers' attention or leave her to be eaten alive. Either way, the medicines Lee and Kenny scavenged will not matter and it would not save anyone. A good way that would make this decision matter is if someone in the group will get very sick like maybe Duck and if you didn't have enough medicine, he would die and someone would have to put a bullet in his head so he wouldn't turn and will basically follow up with Kenny and Katjaa going to the forest with him. And if you did collect enough medicine, you could save Duck and probably kill off Katjaa as she gets bit trying to protect him from walkers; this could be a good way to develop Duck's character and make him realize that his parents' protection doesn't make him invinsible and he would want to be trained along side Clementine.

Nothing changes with Lee's Arm being chopped off, except that he has two hands for the rest of the episode and slightly uses a broken glass. He still faints, passes out, and nearly dies at the same places no matter what. I think its best for him to keep the arm for a little Sharp Glass action

The choice to cut Lee's arm off or leave it is INTENDED to be disappointing. It's supposed to feel hopeless because he dies no matter what, so you have the choice to spend the entire episode struggling to fight Lee's inevitable death, or you can keep both arms to help save Clementine. It's depressing, but I wouldn't quite call it a "bad" choice. It's better than just killing Lee without a choice to try and struggle against his death, because then a player who wants him to live gets to make themself extra-miserable over the whole ordeal. Plus, to me, there's one reason this choice is awesome: the zombie hoard. If you cut the arm off, Lee one-arms his way through it; if you keep the arm, he has this edgy extra scene where he picks up a shard of glass, then you get to go through it dual-wielding the glass and butcher knife like a badass. I'm pretty sure it was intended for most players to try cutting his arm off just to see if they could save him. Telltale WANTED everyone to feel bad about that choice, so that it would increase the impact of the ending. There are a lot of redundant choices that should have had more effect than they did, but I think this one is good specifically because it DOESN'T have much effect. Also, the stranger doesn't blame you for stealing if you don't steal. If you avoid all the reasons he blames you, there are "default" things that you can't change that he'll start blaming you for. I would know since I've tried. But regardless, if you don't steal from him, he talks about how he realized you didn't steal from him, but then he learned about "all the things you did." It isn't much of a payout and it's honestly kind of annoying that the guy finds something to blame you for no matter what you do, but regardless, his dialogue DOES change.

Looking back on entry #4, I always pictured a "what if" scenario if you chose to teach Sarah how to use the gun, leading to two more bonus scenes: The first takes place during the timeframe between the cabin and the ski lodge, where Clementine and the six remaining survivors are at a campfire eating a quick meal. Clementine can talk about her past (mostly about Lee) while learning a bit more of the others pre-apocalypse lives alongside what they went through to escape (giving more details about George for example). After a while, Clementine goes to find a backpack left near a tree and notices the gun Sarah found inside it. Sarah would come over and spot a walker that`s nearby but not a threat (as its mouth is gone) and would try and shoot it as practice if she was taught earlier to try and show Clem she learned, leading to Carlos running over after Clementine snatches the gun. A choice of saying who killed the walker affects Clementines relationship with Carlos and Sarah (as saying Sarah did it leads to Carlos sternly forbidding Sarah from handling a firearm again, ending that arc there, while also having scenes that are a bit more hostile later on, while saying Clem did it has the arc continue, though Sarah will be more apprehensive at specific parts in the second episode, like when the walkers appear at the ski lodge near the climax). In episode 3, when Troy confronts the group trying to escape after Carvers death, the aforementioned choices come into play again: -Refusing to teach Sarah or revealing Sarah killed the walker earlier has Jane take down Troy like the original story. -Teaching Sarah and saying Clem killed the walker will have Sarah approach Troy before Jane does as the walkers close in. She starts to panic and tell Troy she doesn`t want to die, with Troy lowering his guard as he insults her. Out of nowhere, Sarah pulls out the gun from her pocket (revealing Clem handed it to her when she was getting walker guts rubbed on her) and tries to shoot him like Kenny did to Carver, only to shoot him like Jane does instead. If saved from the trailer park episode 4, Sarah will briefly comment on this as well, saying some inner anger kicked in momentarily.

Taking the food from the car. I took it cause I thought it was abandoned, all doors and boot were open. After what happnened at the Dairy the group needed food and supplies. That was my reason for taking it. The stranger at the end shouldn't have left the car open like that anyway. His fault the stuff got taken.

I'm so pissed Luke died. Originally he had an option to live according to unused game files. He was my favorite :/ Bullshit that you don't have more control over things. But Imo, there's always a possibility he survived in the choice where he's dragged under and you don't actually see him die. Lots of people have survived being trapped under ice in freezing water in real life.

Kenny's a bit of an ass at times... I still generally liked him, but he was/is insanely stubborn and often self-centered (not to mention racist and hypocritical). The smallest things can make him dislike you and blame you for everything! At least he redeems himself by potentially sacrificing himself for Clem and being all understanding if you shoot him, but still.

I really enjoy this video and agree a lot with the food van scenario and Arvo's medicine scene. Stealing his meds could'a angered the mob, while not stealing them could have resulted in Rebecca losing the baby, but it all plays out the same no matter what. I understand that some of the choices they give you can only have one outcome (Lee losing his arm could still cause him to turn because all of the blood loss, but keeping the arm, he definitely turns), and that it's the weight and potential guilt of choices (like saving Sara or letting her die, or going to help Luke or listening to him and staying back) that should make you feel bad (and is powerful in it's own right), but doing "the right thing" in all possible scenarios should show more consequences. Of course, if they did do more of this, they'd have to spend more money in voice acting and animations, and really go nuts with writing various outcomes and stories, and the adventure that the player and main protagonists may not make the most solid or moving story out there, so there's that.

the thing is, with telltale games, if you have a choice to save one out of 2 people, the guy who you saved will die later in the game anyways. if in a cutscene you have a choice of saving someone, and you do, the person will die later anyways. thats the problem with telltale games. theres no difference in whatever you do

Most choices in 2 did nothing tbh. Everyone still gets mad at you. Like Arvo shit. Arvo still says you steal...even if you didn't. Also, teaching Sarah to use a gun and then her becoming a liability does nothing. Sarah gets eaten either way...which sucks because I kinda wanted her to be redeemed and continuous with Clem as her friend. I felt Sarah could've moved on and done what she could to be better in memory of her father and a strong character with Clem.

Even when you had the chance to be mean to Sarah just to make get thicker skin it still didn't help the fact that she died. In my opinion it does matter. If you save him, it will be clear that you have forgiven him for all the things he had done which lead to losing the Motor Inn, Lily's breakdown (leaving her or she stealing the RV), Carley's (my favourite character apart from Lee&Clem) death, Duck&Katjaa's death. Also Kenny's disappearance would mean a lot of new things. If you don't save Ben, Kenny'll save Christa from walkers inside of a building. It may be reasonable as Christa was always nice to Kenny and Kenny might have thought she is a woman. Saving Ben is a completely different story. Not only you learn Ben' s pain when you save him, but when he faced his demise, Kenny was the first one to go help him. He tried to get his family's killer (technically) to safety although his family had died merely 3-4 days ago. Also he could've let Ben suffer there but no, he is a good man deep inside and he wanted to escape from all the pain he had, but with one bullet, he decided to let himself suffer, not Ben.

Yeah he was useless and didn't really seem to know what was goin on (Season 2 Sarah:P) but he had a character development which made me care about him, unlike Sarah. I knew she'd die in Season 4 although I saved her from the house, I was just glad to slap her bitch-face:)

In the end the whole group comes together (in Season 4, depending on your choices some will be with you and some will stay at the mansion, or everybody will stay or everybody will be with you) no matter what. It doesn't matter if you let Ben die or save him, he will be with you in Episode 5 (maybe not in the beginning, depending on your early choices)
