I love horn buddies and all but i have to skip. Usually i find reasons in shipping characters but Kirishima and Mina just don't have that chemistry to me. Kirishima kept comparing himself to his horn buddy and it made him feel so horrible to the point where he thought he was useless and he shouldn't go to UA because he's not a hero. Now, me loving Kirishima makes me upset with that. Kiribaku is where it's at. He's the only person to ever calm down Bakugou and is actually able to touch him without getting hit. Bakugou considers him an equal which is a HUGE DEAL and also calls him by his first name a few times(he also calls Uraraka by her first name but she isn't important right now since him and uraraka have no chemistry whatsoever lmao). Their quirks are compatible as well. Bakugou never helps anyone because he got a 1/5 on that scale you mentioned yet he tutors kirishima🤔. Bakugou lets Kirishima go mountain climbing with him on holidays which uhm mountain climbing is bakugou's favorite thing and sharing holidays together is shown as a romantic gesture i think. They also share matching outfits which sometimes hint at future romances. Kirishima protected Bakugou in the movie, Bakugou yelled his name and said THANK YOU!!!!! Kirishima blushed at that man. Bakugou lets Kirishima walk in front of him and also gave him his festival jacket because Kirishima didn't have one...shall i continue? There's so many reasons and evidence to support why they're perfect for each other. There's even reason in the smash manga and even though it's not official to the story line or whatever Kirishima literally got an indirect kiss from Bakugou. An i oop-

@TheAppleCat Umm... i see things differently. You see, Mina does not help Kirishima personally much at all throughout the anime/manga. The only helpful things she does is advise Kirishima not to look his usual gloomy self if he wants to change. She also, as a show of friendly support, says she will spread rumours of Kirishima being someone worthy throughout UA (which i do not really see the helpful impacts of throughout the anime/manga at all). Anyhow, I see this particular kind of interaction to be exactly the same kind of impersonal interaction Mirio had with Midoriya when he first helped Midoriya get an interview with Foresight. That is, Mirio's sole reason for helping Midoriya get an interview is because he felt it was a hero's duty to help anyone with anything, even if it means to help them with something as small as getting an interview. He also advises Midoriya to get Foresight to laugh. Hence, he helped Midoriya get an interview out of simple heroic duty. That is why i believe strongly that Mina's small supportiveness towards Kirishima before the UA classes began could also be seen as some sort of small heroic duty to just help him a little since she saw that he wanted to change. But, besides and after that, she literally does not do anything else. She does not encourage him, she does not challenge him to inspire him through competitiveness, she does not guide him or reassure him that he is a valuable person/hero. She does nothing after the small show of somewhat support she expressed before they started high school. The only thing she does is strangely request Kirishima to tell her the moment he finally overcomes his inner issues, which is a weird request as Kirishima's inner conflict is actually none of her business... This request would not be so weird if Kirishima himself was the one whom asked her to check up on his progress and judge whether or not he has overcome his own obstacles (kinda like a mentor). Additionally, you say that the way she makes Kirishima feel inferior allowed her to help him become motivated to become stronger. But, that's not really true... You see, it is ONLY Crimson Riot whom helped inspire Kirishima to try and become better and stronger. That is, ONLY crimson riot helped Kirishima to believe in himself and overcome the despair that he felt after observing Mina. Mina personally did nothing cause she knew nothing about Kirishima and was not at all a connection to Kirishima's comeback or newfound motivation whatsoever. Honestly, it was just a coincidence that she was the one Kirishima observed on both occasions being impulsively heroic. In fact, you could even replace her with any other talented and instantly heroic student (i.e. Asui, Tokoyami etc.) and it would most likely still have the same result on Kirishima, to feel unworthy to the extent where he believes he should quit So, in my opinion, Mina ended up unknowingly becoming the entrapping seaweed that dragged Kirishima into the depths of personal despair. On the other hand, ONLY Crimson Riot was the lifebuoy that saved Kirishima from drowning and quitting his dreams. The rest of Kirishima's motivation came from his own personal inspiration originating from his admiration of Crimson Riot, not Mina. And let's be honest, if Kirishima did not have any admiration of Crimson Riot before and after falling into despair from observing Mina, he definitely would have given up on becoming a hero, as there would have been no more inspiration acquired from the Crimson Riot inspirational interview tapes that Kirishima collected. Hence, there would have not been anything to help inspire Kirishima to not give up. Anyhow, The only other time Mina and Kirishima ever have any meaningful contact again in the manga is at the end of the Shie Hassakai arc where Mina asks if Kirishima is alright in front of everyone, to which Kirishima replies he still has not reached where he desires to be as a hero, to which Mina casually replies 'i see'. In my opinion, this interaction seems like the kinda interaction an alcoholic would have with an impartial sponsor that is provided by the well-known Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings. Specifically, it reminds me of when a sponsor asks the alcoholic how they are doing or have progressed - to which the alcoholic may reply they still have not achieved their goal just yet or are still not satisfied with how far they have come. But, the weird thing is, unlike the sponsors whom take action to support and help the alcoholics overcome their obstacles, Mina literally does nothing to help Kirishima overcome his inner conflict besides telling him not to look gloomy and spreading kind rumours about him LITERALLY only at the beginning of their actual interactions (nothing after...). Also, it does not seem that Mina is that deeply interested in Kirishima that much. This is, unlike Bakugo whom, for one example, surprisingly remembered that Kirishima casually vowed to not waver like a horse during his battle at Sports Festival tournament. Honestly, even I forgot that Kirishima vowed that.... Hence, Mina making Kirashima stronger is an opinion I disagree with personally.... ONLY Crimson Riot helped him as portrayed in his flashbacks, not Mina. But it's ok if you still believe things differently 🙂 In my opinion personally, Bakugo makes Kirishima stronger. Period. This is especially evidenced by the canonical moment when Kirishima flashbacks to something inspirational Bakugo says before he himself becomes greatly inspired and discovers his FIRST ultra move - Red Riot Unbreakable
