Honestly I'd call Kinect the biggest fail. It shattered Microsoft's relationships with their first and second party development teams and doomed the Xbox One (As long as it was bundled). Sure the red ring of death was a problem, but it didn't have as bad of consequences as the Kinect.

From Microsoft's perspective the Kinect was worse for them, losing their market lead from the 360, from my perspective the Kinect and Xbone pricing made the decision not to buy it for me. Net loss: Zero. The RRoD bricked two of my 360s though, one under warranty, the next not. Net loss: >Zero.

5:39 I'll tell you a story: Once, I went to a friend's house that had an Xbox 360 (I also had one). I realised that he was using it vertically, so I tried. As I moved from horizontal to vertical, everything went fine, until a tremor came (it happens always, so...) Everything was nice, until I wanted to play a game I left on the Xbox during the tremor. I'd say the entirety of the E3 2013 presentation should've been at #1. An incredible amount of bad decisions and policies, the super high reveal price, completely ignoring the gaming part of what is supposed to be primarily a gaming console, "Xbox One is the next water-cooler", etc. And of course, Sony swooping in a day or two later with the PS4. All they did was walk out on stage and go "we aren't Microsoft", and they completely blew the Xbox One out of the water.

Sure as hell last long though. I have xbox one and i use rechargable batteries. Before then i bought batteries that lasted my controller for 2 whole fucking days. Also, you dont have to play wireless you know. Xbox one controllers have a usb port that you can use. PS4 controllers are an absolute nightmare to play with.

What are you talking about? Most of Nintendo's products excel on the technical level. The only ones that have major technical issues are the Power Glove and the Virtual Boy. They just don't focus on using the greatest possible specs.

You know, build quality, controller design and quality, hardware feature design and quality, software design. programming quality, avoiding excessive and major bugs and glitches, avoiding hardware and software crashes, all areas where for the most part Nintendo has greatly succeeded while Microsoft has rated poorly in both the PC and video game markets for the last three decades. In addition to all the technical failures for XBox on this list, Windows PCs have always been technically inferior to Macs (except for software compatibility which is merely an expression of how popular they are despite their inferiority), Internet Explorer has always been technically inferior to FireFox and now Chrome, Windows Phone has always been technically inferior to other smartphones, Zune was technically inferior to iPod (despite the GotG2 plug), and so on...

The developers cancelled Scalebound. Not Microsoft. Go read about it. They build the game on the wrong game engine and it was too far ahead to continue. So they cancelled it and going to build it again from the ground up.

+Pure FeeDz And that's my problem. _You_ may not care for it, but I do. SR1 and SR2 was my favorite game on the system, and it's a shame that I won't get a chance to play it on the next-gen. I mean, people are sucking up to the two crappy sequels that came after it (Seriously, they re-released SRIV on PS4/XONE, and also Gat Outta Hell), and while I respect those who may like them, I just don't think they're entertaining to _me._ Call me selfish, but I want to play a game that _I_ want.

And Minecraft is now on the Switch. The issue is, when all you see is $ and nothing else... you tend to not make good games. Good games are games that gamers can play for months, if not years. If your game does nothing more than give a week of fun then you are probably not going to get far. Pokemon went through this, and Pokemon Black and White were the worst offenders... In high school, I heard some kids on the bus talk about how they beat one of the games in two days... Then I remember that it took me months to beat Pokemon Fire Red (and there was still more to do) and I still haven't finished Pokemon Gold, but I know its taken me a good two or four months of just playing for fun. I was very disappointed in how Pokemon Diamond didn't give as much as Pokemon Gold, and was more baffled at how Pokemon Sapphire was also strangely short but at least not as short as Diamond and not as short as Black or White. Glad Sun and Moon turned this around with adding much needed content.

Alright I have to strongly disagree on number 5 of Microsoft killing Rare, if you guys go and watch All your History Belongs to Us, Rare, you will see the full history of how and why Rare became the way they are today. Microsoft during the prior years before Kinect let Rare develop their titles without any involvement whatsoever, and that resulted in games like Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, Conker Live and Reloaded, and Viva Pinata. Literally after Viva Pinata, the founders left. Now you see the results of how Rare is today, well former members of Rare that created Yooka Laylee and you can see.....that Microsoft isnt the ones to blame, its the old staff themselves that killed Rare. We will see how the current people at Rare will do when Sea of Thieves comes out and hopefully, it regains that uniqueness that Rare is known for.....even though the games they made on the Xbox 360 were very unique compared to most exclusive titles from other Microsoft 1st party studios.

UniversalDude13 My PC cost me $500 and I can play most big name titles, including Overwatch (which still hooked on). I got my $60 steam..... OH I mean, FREE steam that allows me access to online MP for free. They seem to have regular sales too of anywhere from 10 to 80% off even the biggest titles. Sony has a streaming service on it too if you don't mind shelling out $60 for PS Plus for the "best experience possible." Does that PS Plus or XBL "enhance your gaming experience?" Did I build it myself? Yes. It is almost the same as purchasing the thing, but you can find better deals in parts. I can use any controller on it, even retro. My monitor is my TV. I use a USB wi-fi stick to connect and works perfectly, cost me $10 off Amazon. If it breaks down I just take it to any local computer store and they can fix it for little money in less than an hour or fix myself if I suspect a cause. Your console breaks, you have to wait over a month to play again (shipping back and forth). So far only had to replace power supply once after a year, and patches are the same thing as those for consoles. In fact, they are generally faster patching and updating than a console. For a console, if something is wrong with a game you might have to wait a week or a month or indefinitely for a patch. PC, if they don't patch it, you can download free fan made patches usually.

It's true that taking 1 hour to build your own PC is something only some individual can do.for all the problem you said,just don't go on fucking weird website to get virus,trojan and shit like that.Clean you PC once in a while and you will rarely see a game crash.I,m pretty sure you have more game crashing on your console than I have on my PC.And one last thing,framerate drop......dropping from 70-80 to 60 50 or 40 is not that bad.At least we can achieve those framerate.

Got the Red Ring about 3 or 4 weeks before Left 4 Dead was due to release. While it was shipped back a few days before L4D's release, even that was another misadventure as I apparently missed the UPS delivery and had to go to their closest facility to pick it up.

when my 360 has a red ring I just turn it off apply pressure on the part that has the hard drive connected to it while turning it on... wait until it starts normally, I don't release the grip on that Xbox until it makes the sign in sound. I don't know if it will work with anybody else; as long as it still works im gonna keep playing!

Xbox One failure was worst than RROD. At least RROD mistake was salvageable and Xbox brand didnt suffer. The Xbox One's 2013 "TV, TV, TV..." mistake was one of the most miserable flops in Microsoft's corporate history and it caused MS to lose an entire generation war before it even started.

Kinect's failure wasn't because motion controls were no longer in vogue. It's both because the darn thing has a reading accuracy comparable to a Nintendo Power Glove, and because motion controls are more immersive and fun to use when you have something tangible to hold and manipulate when using them.

Red ring of death didnt actually piss me off. Sure it was frustrating. Xbox ones launch is the worst console reveal ever. I was pissed off and legit felt insulted lol. What were they thinking man? I got an xbox one x when it released. Im an xbox guy(not a fanboy) but im glad sony destroyed them and humbled them.

The red ring of death issue was horrible early in the 360s life cycle. We bought two launch day systems, and between the two of them we ultimately went through SEVEN replacements before the issue was resolved and we had two consoles that would last more than a couple of months. Worse, during all this Peter Moore (a guy a really liked) released a statement, lying through his teeth, that the 360 failure rate was actually lower than typical electronic devices. For shame Peter, for shame.

+DevineAaron Personally, I never really saw the big deal over backwards compatibility. Sure, there are may be a tiny handful of games I wouldn't mind being able to play on PS4 from PS3 (CoD: MW3 being one), but I don't feel that means that it's *necessary* for PS4 / XBONE and any future consoles to be able to physically play older generation games on them. Wouldn't it just be easier to just keep your older systems and simply have one of those set-ups (not very tech savvy, so don't know what exactly things are called) where you can simply plug in each system, then if you want to play the older games, you can just press a button to switch over to the older system? I get that it may not be as fun given you're having to switch to older tech and whatnot, but at the same time, you would already have access to the older games instead of having to spend hundreds of more dollars on a modern console to be able to play those same older games while also risking things like system overheating and costing more due to having such options (a couple of the issues early PS3s with backwards PS2 compatibility had). And from what I heard on CoD: BO2's use on XBONE, it's pretty much exactly the way it was on PS3 / 360; not even any graphical updates or anything, so people are pretty much re-buying what they most likely already could have been playing before with the only real difference being a better controller. Just my opinion though. I'd rather overall be playing newer games than constantly going back to older ones. Now if there are remasters of older games (as in good remasters, like CoD4, not merely all but re-releases of old games with simply better running speed or whatever), I would gladly play those. Like if they completely overhauled Assassin's Creed 1 into a remaster based on a number of the lessons learned (game-play-wise) as the franchise went on, I'd be interested. Or something like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, or even older games like some PC games like Star Wars: Dark Forces and that storyline (Dark Forces II, Jedi Knight, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and such), Star Wars: Rebel Assault / Rebel Assault II, X-Wing / TIE Fighter / X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, and so on.

Why is everyone saying Xbox​ 360 is better than ps3 when it's one of the only consoles with free online multiplayer, can use Blu Ray discs, Has Rechargable Controllers, Can download certain ps1/PS2 games, has ps move which is a hell of a lot better than Kinect, and had great looking games like Uncharted 2 & 3, and The Last Of Us

***** Well it is more powerful than the 360, but since it was (and is) the only console with the cell processor, it was extremely difficult to develop games and thus a lot of people went to 360, only in later in it's lifetime the power of the ps3 was put to the max with games such as Uncharted 2 & 3, and The Last Of Us

Wii had free multiplayer, Dreamcast had free multiplayer, 360 had far superior online services i.e not hacked, fast downloads, if your console did die you didn't lose everything and could just pop hard drive into new console, batteries though replaceable was a bonus as meant just pop a spare set in rather than have controller cord charging for hours, ps3 if your internal battery died you had to take whole controller apart (same for ps4) And 360 did have specific backwards compatabilty just like PS3 did, you come across as a millenial who is easily brainwashed.

Why is their even a war between Xbox and PlayStation. They both have there ups and downs but do exactly the same thing, play games. The only differences really are design, specs, exclusive and UI. I prefer PlayStation because it has better exclusives and better UI, plus it's more gaming focused (my opinion)

I remember that those first 360's had a serious problem with overheating. You could spend money on a 3rd party device that acted like an intercooler for your 360, or you could buy the "Elite" 360 version which had dealt with the overheating issue.
