Always start your mixing only with volume and pan, then EQ and Comp. (Tip from Pensado)

I've always wondered if this was actually the way to go and it totally makes sense. I just didnt see any of the pros doing it but I am definitely doing this from now on

**LONG COMMENT ALERT** Haha I don't click everything that says top 10 LOL Man I really enjoy seeing your videos, your daily routine makes me inspired on keep pushing to get better. I saw the channels you got support on youtube, soundcloud and those are the channels I hope to get support in near future. Something that I find really hard is do what you are saying, automating and arrangment first, then after that, the mixdown. I usually re-arrange many stuff while I'm mixing (I try always with a reference track in the same time). For some reason it works better for me, and I judge that my best songs are made like this. (producing for 4 years now). I like the examples you said, for eqing in arrangment stage but also coming back to the EQ in context. That's what I do. The vintage verb is nice but I prefer the Room one from same developers. About the bass, yeah agreed, the parts which is not the kick and bass/sub (generally in the intro of an radio edit one or a simple break I try to keep the low end going for other elements, specially percussion ones if they are playing - above 100hz). The last tip is the best one. The room and headphones is the most crucial for mixing any kind of music. This music you used in the video is really cool man, I enjoyed it a lot. Now that Vanessa is out for 2 weeks hopefully we will se more technical videos like this one. Cheers man, first comment after enjoying your channel for some weeks.

A good way would be also to just always correct the worst thing in your mix until there is no more. I also go back a lot and change stuff while mixing that has nothing to do with mixing. thats all fine the result counts. will check the room one out. yeah might get a bit more technical we will see :)

Good tips! Do you have some advice on getting the stereo image right? That would be a good topic to touch on in a future episode :)

When adding EQ to the reverb it would make sense to put the EQ at the top of the fx chain example - EQ, Reverb
@Jonsine8 жыл бұрын
both works. eq first will eq the sound going into the reverb. having it after the reverb will also eliminate any low end the reverb could produce. it's just for safety. also a lot of reverbs have eq and low cuts build in.

Would also suggest to bounce down your midi tracks before mixing so you can save on CPU power and also see the audio tails and waveform which helps when adding fades and compression.

If most clubs have mono sound systems, why is it important to pan tracks, and work on the stereo imaging? (Given that the track will play only at a club)
@Jonsine8 жыл бұрын
a lot of clubs have stereo systems. it really depends. I would always go for a compromise between working in mono and stereo.

It's okay, but I'd opt for some production course from production music live, if you really want to get into Ableton for example.
