I’m from the UK I live near Alton Towers. We Brits enjoy this channel because we can only fantasise about the kind of Coasters the US has. Alton Towers have a restriction which says no coasters above tree height. The villagers are always trying to get AT shut down but Alton is a very posh sleepy village with huge estates.

Also from the U.K. My reason for viewing this channel is a love of coasters but sadly not many new builds in my country. We had Wickerman a few years ago and there is an updated version of colossus coming to Flamingo-land this year but we haven't had a new big fix in a while.That doesn't mean we don't have good coasters of-course they just come out at a very slow rate. Channels like this are how I get my fix whilst waiting for Thorpe park to finally do something. That and it's just nice to see different countries approach to coasters and put things on my bucket list.

Benjamin McCann true, it’s a bit rich from them to want AT shut down when they affect loads of people in stoke
@gladiatordragon92194 жыл бұрын
The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Here in the states, we get some impressive coasters, but we dream of the theming of Nemisis, Smiler, SAW, and even Oblivion. In the states for the most part, it's either a good thrill or good theming, with an occasional exception, unlike the consistent in-between found at European parks like Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, and Phantasialand. As for those trying to shut down Alton, as far as the law goes, they've tried, they've failed, tried again, and failed again. Alton doesn't seem to be leaving anytime soon.

Once I went to Alton towers, and my friend went on Rita but right as they were counting down she moved her hand to get her hair out of her face (bad idea) but then they ride started and the momentum pushed her hand backwards and she slapped the random person next to her in the face, but they were going so fast she couldn’t move her hand so it was just stuck on this random guys face for the whole time 😂 Let’s just say she left very quickly after it stopped. I went to Alton Towers the year 13 opened. We were staying in the hotel so got to go in early and knowing that 13 would be number one on everyone's list I ran straight for it through the park. Impressive considering 13 is right on the other side across the park. However 13 didn't start accepting people in the queue till the regular opening time. So I decided to kill time by going on Rita. What a hell of a thing to really wake you up in the morning, bearing in mind I was sharing the same room with my mum, dad and toddler sister all of whom snored their heads off that night meaning I didn't get a good night's rest. Rita is just the thing to gear you up in the morning.

Thorax Changeling it would probably be a difficult video to make. For example, nobody is sure if stealth has an acceleration of 0-80 in 1.9, 1.8 or 2.3 seconds. And does a coaster count if it starts the launch moving instead of from a standstill? If it was made there would be A LOT of arguments in the comments.

I just wanted to mention velocity in flamingo land. It is a launch coaster just like Rita and goes from 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds. This is what I fount on the internet about it: "On the UK’s first and only motorbike launch coaster you’ll get to ride at lightning speeds on the tallest and fastest creation of its kind in the world! Accelerating from 0-60mph in just 2.8 seconds and hurtling through over 2000 feet of hairpin turns, dramatic inclines and spine tingling falls, this is a real must for true coaster fans everywhere! Velocity features a unique restraint design created specifically for Flamingo Land Resort. This leaves your upper body to move freely." This was also manufactured by Vekoma, just like Kumali and almost all coasters in the park.

It's not even a fair contest between those coasters. Oblivion is a drop and then literally nothing else - just return to station. Griffin & Sheikra are full coaster experiences with bigger drops too.
@wr92092 жыл бұрын
@@drxym that’s what happens with progress and no limitations. Alton Towers has to innovate its rides because of the annoying height and noise restrictions, Alton Towers has built a few ‘worlds firsts’, the prototypes, but then other parks can come in and make them bigger without the restrictions. Still, I’ve been on Sheikra, and doesn’t make Oblivion feel any less good, and the queue for it is really quick these days. Alton Towers because it innovates has some amazing rides that stand up till this day, Nemesis is one compact intense short ride, and stands up to any inverted coaster I’ve been on, including the many in Florida I’ve been on which are larger and quicker.

As some from the uk oblivion and other B&M drop coasters don’t hold you at a complete stop before the drop but in fact you are on a chain that move you forward so slowly that unless you are looking for sings of it you don’t notice you are move. This is because the rides have a build in safety feature with the chain that can pall back the ride if there is a problem instead of sending you forward so that you don’t go into another ride vehicle

Funny story: a couple of years ago me my parents and my sister went to Thorpe park and we bought fast passes for any roller coaster. We used them to get on colossus bc the que was insanely long but the man checking the passes didn’t take them away from us. If you’ve been to Thorpe park then you know their meant to take them away and if they don’t get taken the fast passes are useless on the scanner thing. So anyway as a joke my dad said “why don’t you two try get on saw with the used fast passes and pretend that you were given the used ones instead of the unused ones”. We tried it and didn’t expect it to work but surprisingly the lady at the fast pass line let us in and we ended up skippy a three hour long wait 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂(we also did this on nemesis inferno)

However, there are some things you say that I don’t quite understand, most notably the term “credits” but a few other small things too. Are there any notable terminology videos for roller coaster enthusiasts?
@klaussstele4 жыл бұрын
a credit is whether or not you have ridden a coaster. so say you have only ever ridden 2 coasters, nemesis and smiler for example, you would have two credits, one for each. you do not get another credit if you re ride something so if you have ridden a certain coaster 15 times it is still only one credit. they only apply to rollercoasters, not flat rides such a drop tower or an enterprise

I can't imagine what Jubilee Odyssey would have been like if it was 265 feet tall. A 200 foot tall vertical loop sounds insane and I can imagine it would have been a lot rougher than the ride is now. It would probably have even worse problems with saddling due to the high winds of being located right next to the sea (which it already has in the cobra roll element).

My home town is Thorpe park, I like all the rides except Colossus because it is rough. I enjoy many of the coasters in the UK but I really want to visit places like Cedar point so I can go on some more thrilling and taller coasters. I am currently in Orlando about to go to Universal which has some great rides but I would like to go on much taller rides.

The saw is honestly one of the scariest rides I’ve ever been on and I don’t usually get scared of them

@@Fluster nice 🙂. I'm from uk and only been to Thorpe Park once, I remember looking at stealth thinking my god that's big 😶. But when I went on it, the acceleration was so great that I didn't even notice when I got up there lol

@@coolyoutubename16 Nice bro. For me, the only thing that I felt was the acceleration, it was so intense and I loved it. After the acceleration I basically didn’t feel anything, it just felt like I was going on a regular track. The short view at the top was also enjoyable. My second favourite after Stealth is Saw, the sudden drop in the dark and beyond vertical later on is so good, and the ascent after the beyond vertical drop has some really nice Gs.

People normally say that rides look worse then they actually are but stealth is definitely as bad as it looks 😣 but it’s amazingggg 🤩

Went on both rides in fantasy island, both really fun. The loops on purple one weren’t as intense as it looks,

anyone else know that sheikra was the first *true* vertical drop coaster?

I enjoyed Saw just purely based on how much I like the films, also made me laugh because my sister started crying on the coaster saying how she wanted to get off 😂😂 The Swarm is great, love it 👌🏼 I also wouldn’t recommend sticking your hands up on Rita before it shoots off as I hurt my arms when it shot off 😂 Oblivion pisses me off because every time I go on it, there’s always been camera problems 🙃

I didn't even know Fantasy Island existed?? I've only ever been to Thorpe Park and Alton Towers, well and M&Ds but that doesn't really count - probably soured me on trying to find any smaller parks, need to fix that now!

One thing the UK does better than US is theming. The US has some crazy coasters but some of them have absolutely no theme, some even built on car parks.
