But, no matter how you were eating before, most of the foods that are the pillars of a keto diet are things you’re already familiar with - we’re just helping you learn to use them in slightly different ways to promote ketosis in your body. Though there are hundreds of foods that fit into a keto diet, there are some that are the true rock stars of the bunch.

I haven't had sugar or carbs in like six weeks, cravings for them are gone, I'm learning more and more everyday and being in ketosis gives me the energy I need to keep up with my kids. I don't need as much sleep at night and fasting 16:8 gives me the mental clarity I need for our busy mornings. Lol I know this sounds like an ad, it's not. I'm just a regular mom. These videos give me motivation and help me when I get the late night munchies

I have been doing the same! Starting my 11th week on Keto. No sugar or wheat and my cravings are gone. I can watch anyone eat a cupcake or bread and I have zero desire for it. I also do IF, 18-6. Have more energy than I dreamed of. Sleep less, wake up refreshed. Clothes now fit. I’ve lost 23 lbs and lots of inches. It’s my way of life/eating from now on.

So does the weight com back once you stop
@RuledMe
@RuledMe Жыл бұрын
@@tayloradriene1 Some weight will come back - generally keto will shed a lot of water weight initially and once you eat carbs you will gain that water weight back. But any fat loss that happened should stay consistent as long as you are not eating a calorie surplus once you switch off of a ketogenic diet. If you eat a lot of unhealthy foods and in a calorie surplus, you will gain weight no matter what diet you're on.

Been on keto for years. AND for practicality I find simpler to just eat fish/meat, eggs, thick cream, lard, Olive Oil, BUTTER, coconut oil/mct oil, some stock cubes, curry powder, chilli, hard cheese. I stopped peanuts, cashews as they help put on weight as you can eat them by the ton. Only vegetables I eat - tomato limited, broccoli, cauliflower. spring onion. Lots of salts.

Besides the shellfish, I love all those foods, but crucies in moderation for me, that gas... This is the reason why a vegan approach is so much hard work, you are consuming way more food, which will generally mean more work in the kitchen, and hope you are one of the lucky ones that can assimilate and convert the poorer quality nutrients in plants. OR! Eat eggs beef, salmon and some form of organ meat to cover everything needed for optimal health. Highly assimilated and bio-available.

1) Extra Virgin Olive Oil isn't really good for high heat frying (great for salads though), use Avocado Oil instead since it has a much higher smoke point --- but if you're sauteing and keeping the temps under 330-350 degrees then EVOO is fine; 2) On keto you want fatty cuts of meat (just like fish), poultry in general tends to be too lean --- I mean of course you can eat it, but it isn't a "pillar" in Keto; and 3) Avocado has to be on the list.
@RuledMe

@@RuledMe Interesting study that would require more than just my 10 minute perusal to analyze it properly. That said the initial smoke points of EVOO and OO seem off to me and my experience cooking with both isn't reflected by the adjusted numbers after heating. This is the opposite of what I have been learning over the past few years. There is definitely controversial over this as opposed to high carbohydrate diets. I have been told that dairy and meat are killers. I do understand that because this diet stays away from breads, pastas and sugar that the body will use the fat as fuel, but I can't help thinking of the Dr. who gave the TED talk about all the yellow as he called it, "chicken fat" that he saw in peoples veins and arteries as he assisted in operations.
@RuledMe
@RuledMe 3 жыл бұрын
Human fat is yellow, and usually cholesterol deposits (which cause the fat buildup in veins and arteries) are what he would see. It wouldn't be stored "chicken fat". Keto has been shown in numerous studies to reduce cholesterol and if you use keto as a tool, can significantly promote weight loss. Keto is a bit controversial but with more and more modern studies coming out, it's looking to be like one of the healthiest diets out there as long as it's followed properly. Remember, keto is a high-fat, moderate protein, and low-carb diet. Your main focus is on dark leafy vegetables, some cruciferous vegetables, a small amount of protein (so you don't lose muscle), and the rest on fat. Most meals on keto are 1-2 veggies + protein + added fat on the plate. Salads are a great keto meal, using an olive oil/vinegar dressing. You CAN follow keto unhealthily (just as with any diet) with tons of processed meats and dairy, but most people following keto in the long-term are mainly doing it for health and will adjust what they eat as well because of that. Plenty of whole foods with much less focus on processed ingredients.

Super frustrated. 6 months and no loss. Bought a meter and found out that I am not in ketosis! I just don’t get how I can be eating only 15-20 carbs a day max and after six months, not only am I NOT in ketosis but I haven’t lost a pound. I’ve tried doing it at lower calories versus higher calories and it doesn’t seem to change anything. I have though cured my T2 diabetes and love this way of life. All the keto calculators tell me I should be eating roughly 1800 cal a day for my weight, height and age. I do follow the advice of several popular keto doctors and understand the whole calorie setpoint thing. But it just doesn’t seem to matter whether I eat lower calories or higher calories... I just go back-and-forth within a pound or two and always end up back at my starting point. I’m shocked. I actually gained back the 6 pounds in water weight that I lost the first week, so I’m back up to the weight I started at. Is that all fat now??? I’m even drinking 60 ounces of purified water a day, making sure to take my supplements and electrolytes. I’m lightly active ...like walking the dog and housework. I know it’s not a lot, compared to other people, but I have a broken vertebrae in my lower back, so I have chronic pain that keeps me from getting more physical exercise than I would like. My Fitbit tells me that I walk anywhere between 1.5 - 3 miles a day. I generally get in anywhere from 2,000-4,500 steps a day depending on weather and how far I walk the dog. Although exercise should not be a huge factor, as I’ve seen hundreds of stories of people losing 50-75 pounds on this diet with very little exercise. But I guess I’m severely insulin resistant. Or could there be something else wrong with me. I have a fatty liver and I had my thyroid checked last year -and it was fine. so the liver issue is the only thing I’m aware of. And supposedly, keto is great for a fatty liver. Anyone have any thoughts? Have you heard stories like mine where people are literally measuring and weighing and documenting everything and being extremely strict and still not losing? I do have some Erythritol/Monk fruit sweetener in some of the recipes and fat bombs that I make but it’s not excessive. However, I have read that some people are super sensitive to even the keto sweeteners and it can keep insulin levels up. Maybe that’s the problem? I’ve cut out almost all dairy and that hasn’t changed anything. Regardless, I’m not giving up. I’ve come too far!! I’m going to figure this out if it takes me another two years!!

1800 calories does sound a little bit high so maybe it's worth reducing it to 1600 for a few weeks to see if that helps. Do you track the calories you're eating or only the carbs? Have you ever tried introducing intermittent fasting into your diet? It also sounds like you should drink a bit more water - around 96 oz water per day.

Extra virgin olive oil has a smoke point of only 320 degrees Fahrenheit, making it unsuitable for deep frying. Light olive oil, with a smoke point of 460 degrees Fahrenheit, can be used to deep fry, but deep frying with olive oil does not make food healthier than frying with other kinds of polyunsaturated oils.

So, I just need a clear answer. Is Costco Rotisserie Chicken Keto? And are Tuna pouches like Starkist Keto? And if a Tuna pouch says that it has 1g sugar and 0g added sugar, can I still eat it on Keto?
@RuledMe
@RuledMe 4 жыл бұрын
They are all low-carb, but not exactly keto. Most of those will be more protein than fat and need some added fats for when you are eating them. Making a tuna salad (with mayo or some type of fatty condiment) or making a chicken salad (or a dipping sauce for the chicken) would make it more keto-friendly. If there's 1g sugar then it would still easily fit within your 25g net carb limit for the day, so yes you can still eat it.
