My wife and I do not eat sugar or processed food and we are 95% carnivore. The other day we made a fundamental mistake by eating chicken from a well known chicken fast food chain. We were sick for two days and the effect was almost immediate. I can't imagine what it must do to the body eating this food on a daily basis.

You’re one of the few doctors I watched almost a year ago when the doctors told me some of my organs were not how they were supposed to be. I couldn’t use the restroom, I couldn’t eat, I was always in pain, I thought I was not going to feel better or come back to my normality. I will never forget a comment a person told me: *the same way it took time for you to get like that is the dame way you are going to get better, it’s going to take time.* Fast forward a few months, almost a year, I have learned a lot from you. Thank you 😞 It’s still hard, I am still learning but I am so indebted. Please continue doing this doctor. Love from California ❤️

I have been practicing holistic for many years. At 65, I am healthy and take NO med's. Then I found you and now share your video's with people who desire better health. QUESTION: You stated in this video that some person had their microbiome checked after eating fast food for 1 week. How did they do this, what test was given to find this out, and how can we request one? To me, the microbiome is the foundation of all well-being and health. So I hope to receive an answer to my question. Blessings, Dr. Ekberg for sharing your incredible knowledge!

I know very well that artificial sweeteners are very bad because my body it simply rejects them. For example if I try to drink 1 liter of diet coke during a 24-48 hour period, I'll just end up throwing up until my body is fully cleansed of it. Same story happened with a coffee that a friend of mine served it to me. He used lots of some kind of artificial sweetener, and not only that I felt it taste disgusting, but I ended up throwing after 5 minutes and I felt bad for the rest of the day until my body was able to filter it out. Currently I'm on a bad path with sugars, and all that I can say is that it affects everything from muscles brain and digestive system and even blood flow. This video is very informative and I hope that people will get to see it because it sort of explains how much an average person poisons itself daily just by eating and drinking, believing that they live a semi-healthy lifestyle.

Thanks for all the great information. 💕 15:59 Kimchi is made of fermented cabbage or other vegetables. It does not fall under fermented soy. Examples of Korean fermented soy products are: ‘doenjang’, fermented soy bean paste (similar to miso), ‘chongukjang’ fermented soy beans (similar to natto, but eaten in soups), and ‘ganjang’, and “gukganjang’, soy sauces (unlike Japanese and Chinese soy sauces, it doesn’t contain sugar). 😊

Just like to thank you for educating me on how the body works, its helped me to make choices. After struggling with stress both from grief three times over, partner, father and brother inlaw, bushfire, and lose of income from covid in less than 12 months. My blood sugar went up, .6.7, I developed cortisol belly and round face, high blood pressure, and tingling and tremors in feet and legs, gallbladder and heartburn chronically...list goes on . The last three months after watching your videos, I went onto a low carb, low gi, diet with apple cider vinegar. I have no heartburn, very little gallbladder and liver issues, dairy sets it off mildly my a1c is 4.8 though stress still tips it, I'm loosing weight and I have energy. I still have tremors in my legs but restless legs gone. And my once low blood pressure has returned. Thank you for your help, and giving me back my health, life and empowering me to make small changes in my diet, medication, excersise. I knew cortisol was bad, my weight went up without me eating much. I even got scared to eat as it hurt my stomach my liver, and gallbladder, but all of us in the fire zones are struggling with this, resulting in pancreatic and stomach, cancer increasing and a lot of unwell people.

The chlorine in the public water system kills bacteria, but the reason it is there is to “detect” it. Typically, clean water is maintained and stored with 1ppm residual. If residual starts to decrease without explanation, it indicates contamination. This is the Beauty of CL2 it performs both jobs, disinfection and it is the most cost effective indicator of water contamination.

Thank you so much Dr Ekberg for this informative video! I have a suggestion for a future video. Could you please tell us about the preservatives, binders, and fillers commonly used in supplements and their effects on one's gut and health in general. A lot of us are taking at least three different types of supplements to aid in our health journey but little we know about additives and their impact on our health. We need basic knowledge to be able to differentiate between the ok, the evil and the less evil. I read a lot about these but like everything else there is so much conflicting opinions out there and I am no scientist. It can be very confusing for the average person. I am 66yr old, stage 4 kidney cancer survivor, type 2 diabetic on insulin, have diverticulitis, gluten problems and very high untreated (refuse to take statins) cholestral. I have successfully incorporated 24hr fasting once a week to help reduce my obesity. It seems like I live on lots of cabbage, eggs, my homegrown organic kimchi, mushrooms, with small amounts of 100% grass fed beef or lamb, fish and chicken. My blood work has greatly improved over the last year on this diet, but I am frustrated with my limited diet. 😪 I miss bread the most and give in to my craving for bread several times a week, from convenience and boredom.. Do you have any suggestions to help with a better variety of "safe" food I could add to my diet? Thank you very much for being a major contributor to my improved health. I am very grateful. 👍😁❤ kind regards from New Zealand.

I've found with diverticulitis it's crucial to keep fibre intake high. I can't manage 30g a day but find 25g achievable. My tip would be take that cabbage and turn it into some really interesting coleslaws, and you can make your own mayo to dress that with egg and olive oil. I flavour mine with apples, citrus, fresh herbs, red onion. The combinations are limitless. Also I've just discovered Rye bread, it's a bit dense but this video seems to give it the thumbs up. Plus keep your fluids up of course. Good luck with finding more joy in what you eat x

Sourdough bread is your answer. Because it's fermented grain it's already broken down a lot so your gut has an easier job to digest it. Use Organic flower and focus on ancient grain varieties like Spelt flower,Rye flower,Khorasan flower and buckwheat flower. I am making Sourdough at home and that's really the best way to make sure you get good quality sourdough bread. I have friends that have Gluten intolerance and they can eat my Sourdough bread without much of an issue. I have found trough my friends that if i use 40% Strong white bread flower,30% Spelt or Rye flower and 30% buckwheat works the best for their Gut. My advise to you is to learn how to make Sourdough at home.I can almost guarantee that you will notice the results straight away. Not to mention is the most delicious bread you would ever eat. Just a note- even though Sourdough bread is great you still shouldn't eat too much because of your diabetes. Still makes your blood sugar spike and because it's digested slower the Spike is more gradual. Which generally is a good thing but with your diabetes means that if you have Sourdough bread late in the evening your blood sugars will rise in the middle of the night which is not ideal. I know that because one of my friends also happens to be type 2 diabetic. Gluten free bread is not for everyone so i wouldn't say that's the answer.

Confirmation bias. The way learning about something like veganism through influencers and documentaries etc makes one feel, is a very intense feeling. You think you’ve found the truth!! In realty, it’s a bit of a cult and very damaging, to many who take on a new world and self concept because of these ‘feelings.’ Seems to be a bit of an epidemic these days, people being cult minded over how they feel, when how they feel was brought on by decisions that were made under false pretense. How painful to admit we are wrong sometimes.. for most they refuse to admit it ever. And that’s a tragedy we see occurring all of the world, in so many areas right now, not just veganism, although it sure help set the stage for the type of mindset😰

Wheat products like chapati/roti are widely eaten here, which is a form of food made from whole wheat flour and is different from the all-purpose flour used in the USA. I have a strong feeling that the Indian wheat variant has a relatively smaller quantity of gluten and I am sure a lot of Indians would love to know more about the effects of eating whole wheat homemade food like chapati for individuals who have been eating wheat since centuries and hail from countries which have less than 0.01% gluten intolerance.

I feel like it's the simpler stuff that makes the difference. I decline the cake, the biscuits, the sweets that people offer. I take the stairs and generally move a lot throughout the day. I ride a motorcycle instead of driving a car, which means I'm often pushing 200 kg around a car park. Small decisions and being comfortable outside of what people expect will often go very far

Nicely done. You are one of the very, very few who brings up dairy protein. I never had any leaky gut symptoms until later in life while using whey protein powder as a supplement. I got rheumatoid arthritis so bad I couldn't do anything without being in pain, and joints would throb just being still. After doing an elimination diet I discovered it was dairy, and I was having an autoimmune reaction to the proteins. That information was found on the internet but was so buried it's scary. After avoiding dairy for the most part for over a decade I've been able to partake of it with just a little more frequency thanks to daily use of apple cider vinegar which seemed to help tighten my gut cells. I now understand that to be the acetic acid, which greatly benefited me in other ways, too. This showed me I was low on stomach acid which explained a lot of other stuff, too. So now I'm taking HCl pills (750 mgs with each meal) and it's amazing! One thing I won't do though is drink raw milk, even if it's the difference between going back to dairy or not. After watching that surgery of the bodybuilder having to manually get hundreds of worms removed from his intestines I ain't touching it. lol

Excellent video and well stated information. The chlorine and fluorine put into public drinking water systems does present a "damned if you do and damned if you don't" situation.

I wonder if Stevia affects the gut? I have been on healthy Keto for about 4 years (mostly organic and grass fed). I had H. Pylori when I started on Keto I treated it naturally to get rid of it. I have recently had H. Pylori become a problem again. I figured it was all the none Keto friendly food I at eat over the holidays that cause the regrowth of this none friendly bacteria.

@@mandograssable I will have to try it. I do like Stevia, better than Allulose which took a lot to give any sweetness and gave me gas and bloating.

This about the gutbacteria was also the subject of matter in the book "Happy Food"* by chef Niklas Ekstedt and medicin journalist Henrik Ennart. It have quite some interesting finds that shows that there is a connection between a healthy microbiom and mental health. In research with mice where they reduced their bacteria levels to nearly sterile it showed that the cognitive abilities changed. They became less able to socialize with other mice, became less able to estimate risk (mice are small animals and would normally instinctly be cautious and sniffing and perking their ears when in an unfamiliar situation or place), and that was about at a scale of behavioural patterns from slight adhd to fairly serious autism. The behavioural pattern among the mice became considerable better when they recieved fibers and other food that increased the healthy bacterias that improves the ability to absorb the nutritients from the food.

The tap water thing is no issue in most of europe. I live in Germany and the tap water is potable in almost all places. Funny thing is, when I'm abroad in the US or UK, I order my drinks without ice because it is usually made with tap water, which tastes like a swimming pool for me.

Dr. Ekberg, thank you for so concisely explaining everything you do.Question - Can't have Sugar, can't have artificial sweetener. Is there a healthy, natural alternative? I have a hard time stomaching straight black coffee, and something other than water would be great to drink occasionally. Currently I use Diet Dr. Pepper, but seems that's not a good solution.

1. Zevia Soda 2. Plain or flavored Sparkling water/carbonated water 3. You can add Stur or another healthy flavor enhancer to your water 4. There are so many different types of tea to choose from. Fruit derived teas, desert style teas, herbal teas are different options. 5. Monk Fruit extract, stevia extract and erythritol are healthy sweeteners. Also, look at reviews online before purchasing a product.
