So, if the reason to prefer butter over margarine are trans fats, as dr ekberg is suggesting here, than this is nonsense. Margarint today has lower amount of trans fats than butter. Usually around 1%, often less than that, while butter has on average between 2-3%. Trans fats in margarine are just not a big deal anymore. They were a couple of decades ago when margarine would have 10% and more of trans fats, sometimes up to 25%, but modern production methods changed that drastically.

Lowest rates of heart disease , diabetes, etc and they don't have the obesity problems of western society. They age better than westerners. All staple carbs in western diets are unhealthy. That is the main issue and the hilarious root of this keto fad lol. It stems from ignorance.

We have now about 6 months for ketogenic life style with IF and time to time even longer periods. My record is 72h witch I reached surprisingly easy. But usually we do OMAD and 4/20 IF. Life is easy. So much more time to do things we love. Walking, photography, music, etc. I losted over 20kg. I’m 187cm tall and I my weight was 101,4kg before, but now it’s 80kg. And my strenght levels are still the same. I feel wonderful. I feel thankful! I’m turning soon to 41 and I’m now the same size than I was about 19 years old. So I’ve got about 20 years back!! I’ve never hungry, I eat all good stuff. And also with quality. I sleep like a baby. We’re a little upprörd how bad food recomendations we’ve given from ”normal” instructions. But do you think that they don’t know? ’Cos it’s quite bad if they know the truth but still throw these very bad guidelines. Anyway, we don’t know how to thank you all of these information. You are a lifesaver. And it would be wonderful to meet in person at some point in this world and shake the man’s hand who has all this courage to tell all this stuff! We live in Finland so maybe sometimes when you’re visiting in Sverige. Or you should come and held few lectures to the finnish doctors. Amazing content, Sir. Everyone should know these details. Thank you once again!
Thank you Dr Ekberg for your expert advice. I’ve been on this keto journey for about a year , from pre diabetic to now normal and 45 lbs lighter. I still watch my carbs and regularly test my blood glucose and pee ketones. I practice intermittent fasting ( 6 hr eating window) daily. Processed food high carbs and sugar nearly wrecked my health . I believe that the single greatest problem in our modern diet is that our food has been boogered with to the extent that it’s so nutritionally deficient and borderline poisonous for some people. In ancient cultures breads and grains were part of a regular diet,; however, what we all bread today bears little resemblance to what our ancestors consumed. Much of the time grains sprouted in storage due to moisture getting to the grain reducing the anti nutrients in the grain and increasing the nutrition of them. This added to slow natural fermentation (sourdough) in bread making provided much healthier food than the typical fast fermenting of commercial baking today. I say all this to say that I do eat some wheat bread from time to time . My own bread made from sprouted organic wheat home ground and leavened with a natural sourdough culture. Modest portioning and consumption doe not spike my blood glucose where I have observed commercially produced breads do. I think the glycemic index is probably much better in breads made the old way. You also spoke of wine. I lived in Italy for a time , with people who produced wine from their own grapes using the old ways. Totally different from what passes for wine today in your typical modern market. Our ancestors ate so much better!

@@andrewsilver7048 Proteins, carbohydrates, fatty acids are all made from the same elements. The body can convert these into eachother. So eat zero carb? Your body will convert proteins and fats into glucose. So just eat glucose(raw honey, fruit, starches). The body needs saturated fat so converting glucose into fat will be void of nutrients, so eat saturated animal fats daily(they 100% do no cause atherosclerosis). Eating protein is useful but if you eat enough carbohydrates the body will retain more muscle with less effort. Keto is a short term wieght loss that does alot more harm than good. Cells do not just store energy, they store everything. Vitamins, minerals. So being thin is not necessarily a sign of health. In fact you need a healthy layer of saturated fat or you will be very anxious until you eat enough nutrient dense omnivorous food.

Always question any information you get. Dr. Sten 'Avocado Lover and Fruit Hater' Ekberg also is just a human. I am sure he is very competent and gives us a lot of useful advice, but he is by no means perfect. Every single one of those nutrition experts is trying to make us believe they found the one and only 100% true answer to all our questions. The more confident people are with their own opinion, the less you should trust them. 😉 Also many things are a matter of perspective and Dr. Sten Ekberg is only seeing things in regards to health and nutritions. Our seas are already overfished, the Avocado is one of the worst fruits to grow on our planet because of its high water demands and meat also is extremely inefficient to produce. So how far do we want to go with your own health? Is going from "good health" to "great health" really worth destroying our own planet? What I am saying here is highly simplified of course. I am just saying that there is more to consider than just the stuff in those videos.

I know what you say is broadly true. But I think it's important to add that the quality of breads and cereals vary a LOT throughout the world. Being Australian and having lived in North America for 2 years in the past, I can tell you, the commercial bread and cereals in the Americas is SOOOOO much more processed and sweetened than the status-quo in Aus. I was amazed when I first tried commercial bread there. It was like eating cake!

I personally was unable to see weight loss with keto and gained weight because I myself can eat an abundance of fatty meats and go into a caloric surplus fairly easy even with OMAD (can easily eat like 3 lbs of ground beef or steak, fatty meat is a trigger food for me) Did keto for about 4 months and stopped due to it destroying me mentally. Eventually I was able to get down to 150lbs as an average height male eating mainly chicken, fruit, PLENTY of vegetables, jasmine rice, egg whites, and cut out all high processed foods and unnatural sugars. Whoever finds the time to read this, don’t be discouraged if keto doesn’t work for you, find what does and also make sure that it can contribute to your happiness as well as being a sustainable lifestyle rather than just a diet. Much love ❤️

Sten Ekberg is very structured and pedagogical as usual and it makes it easier to understand how everything is connected. My breakfast tip for those who eat oatmeal is to mix it up with something else. I always mix with coconut flakes and other seeds and nuts. The porridge also tastes better. I always have mixed berries that I put on top. These are berries such as blackberries, raspberries, black currants, gooseberries and strawberries. The berries taste best when they have the right acidity, not just sweetness. I do not remember when I was sick last time, but during the 30 years I have eaten a similar diet, I have rarely been ill, pepper pepper take in wood as they say. As a child, I also got a big lump of butter on the porridge, which I continued with.

I like eating the keto way so much, I won't even watch or look at any of the food networks/shows online anymore, and I used to be a huge fan of all of them. I'll admit I used to eat so terribly, I don't know how in the world I managed to reach the age of 67; now, after being on keto for seven weeks, I simply cannot imagine going back to the old way of eating, nor can my body handle it---I had an "emergency" meal two weeks ago from McDonald's, and while I chose the least offensive thing I could find on their menu, I had to throw it away after just three or four bites, it tasted so awful. I can hardly believe I used to eat that vile stuff several times a month!!! I'll continue to watch and listen to Dr. Ekberg, and to live the healthier, happier keto lifestyle as I watch my weight going down daily, my BP improving so hugely, my doctor is going to be stunned next week when I go to my appointment, and just feeling vastly better than I have in decades.

It does not make sense to claim that bread like rye bread is unhealthy. I understand that processed food and sugar in general is unhealthy, but rye bread, oat meals etc. are purely good for your health. Carbs are not dangerous 😑 It all comes down to having an active lifestyle and eating nutritious, balanced food. The fact that some healthy foods make your blood sugar rise it does not make it unhealthy.

I'm sorry but I don't trust anyone who claims that oatmeal or fruits are considering as worst food. Fruits might contain sugar but there are also antioxidants, vitamins, fiber, tannins which in compound are slowing down sugar absorbtion in time and some of that sugar won't be even absorbed due to them. As I watch your videos and agree with most of what you say, this is the part when I start to doubt. The only part I can agree with you here is that we should eat mostly vegetables.

Vegetable oils also cause extreme oxidative stress on the body. These polyunsaturated oils are prone to oxidization, and before its invention by Crisco, heart attacks were virtually unheard of or extremely rare. Probably due to the trans fats in the product, but regardless of that, there's still a consequence of using these oils in the body. This was also compounded by the amount of sugar added to our diets at the tail end of the 19th century. Olive oil and avocado (cold-pressed) contain at least 10% polyunsaturated fats and should be used sparingly in cooking. Butter, lard, beef tallow, and coconut/MCT oil should be your primary source of cooking oils since these oils resist oxidation in the body.

@@mcav22 That said - eating broad amount of foods ensure a more diverse microbiome. So the small amount of inflammation the fruit does cause, might be outweighed by the feeding. Obviously like you said, it has to be within a healthy limit. Not every day, or at the very least smaller servings. Plus not everyone reacts the same to the same food. Some get more spike in blood glucose than others. Some studies showed people not spiking from ice cream, while mega high from rice. And a second person in the same study have the flipped reaction. So we need to test and figure out what works for us individually. Even when there is a baseline of "healthy" foods. We don't react the same.
