Big shoutout to @RailfanIan1225 for suggesting this video! Also, I leave for college in four days so just be happy I got this out. We’ll see how my plans for the 20th anniversary of the Polar Express movie go. Also, I forgot to put this in the video, but: Inspired by Christopher Kovacs.

I have a suggestion: top 10 steam locomotives that were significant in history for preservation, but scrapped anyways. What I mean is 10 steam locomotives that played a big role, for example, PRR 1737, being the 1st K4, and being a stepping stone for the gresley A1. Or nyc 5344 for being the first official streamlined steam locomotive in the US.

@harrisonofcolorado88863 ай бұрын
I think there's a possibility of that happening now. There were crews that began repainting C&O 614 from Green, and there was some additional info that Ross Rowland intended to overhaul the 614 back to operation.

Fun fact about 722 is 722 actually hauled revenue freight on the muprhy branch during her active days of steam on the Southern, so she'll be the only locomotive running on her old home rails after her rebuild is finished.

You could collab with me on a video about the "The Lost Engines" which is something I know about that Is a bit of a touchy subject considering that the locomotives were deliberately Crashed for movies, Burned for hollywood, ripped apart for scrap, or worse of all, deliberately buried when they did not need to use them anymore, they were mostly buried burned or hollywood wrecked on what is now state and federal property (former timber lands belonging to lumber Companies) in Oregon & Washington state.

36:37 that’s a lot of accidents! It also turns out the 611 wasn’t the only J-class Northern to have an accident during its revenue service. Three other Js had also been involved in accidents! Those being 604 in 1946, 607 in 1948 and 613 in 1953, but unlike the 611, these three are no longer around and have only had one accident each.
@AndrewTheRocketCityRailfan40145 ай бұрын
The J's indeed were an accident-prone species of steam locomotives. I will talk about that when I redo my video on preserved steam locomotives involved in accidents. 611 will be no. 1 on that list like this and the original.

Nobody told me the J's were accident prone! 😠
@AndrewStewart545Ай бұрын
@@AndrewTheRocketCityRailfan4014 They may have been accident-prone, but that didn’t stop them from being reliable passenger locomotives 🚂 That’s quite something else! I’m thankful that the 611 hasn’t had any more accidents since the 1986 Great Dismal Swamp accident. I’m not trying to jinx it by the way!

Most wouldn't qualify. For an engine to do so on this list, it will have had to have been retired from excursion service atleast once in its life. 2816 sort of qualifies but the rest don't. The only reason I didn't include it is because it's Canadian. If I did a Canadian list, then she'd automatically be in its top 3.
