That’s the point, he’s seen ALL those stories, and who in the Seven Kingdoms would make a better ruler than an objective, calm, stoic man who can make good decisions based on his complete knowledge of the past??? Jon: Dany’s supporters would revolt and even if he ruled in peace he would make a dreadful king; no experience, he’s lost most of the battles he’s fought, and he couldn’t even control his own troops in the Sack of King’s Landing. Tyrion: He said it himself, everyone hates him Gendry: No experience WHATSOEVER and is it really a good idea to name the son of a man who started a civil war that killed thousands and tore apart the Seven Kingdoms? Doing that legitimizes violent revolution and is that really what you want in a place as bloody as Westeros? Bran has a noble heritage, the respect of all nobles who meet him, the greatest spy network in existence, (his brain) and he has no ambitions, jealousies, or vices that could threaten his integrity. In the end it comes down to this: do you want Westeros to repair itself and evolve in a positive way or do you just want your favorite character to wear a fancy crown and get to call himself king? PS: I HATED the way the ending was done, but Bran being King is the one thing I LOVE :)
@Erinya5585 жыл бұрын
@theconstruct67 so you actually don’t care if their entire world is destroyed if it means you get some crappy drama that ANY show can give? My biggest problem with S8 was that it was rushed, cliched, and too much like every other bloody show on TV, Bran’s rise to King was the only thing that properly surprised me and really made sense to me. Would it have been in character for the council to name anyone else but Bran king? Every other candidate makes no sense, he’s the only one who could ever repair all that destruction, and as for him sitting out the battle of winterfell, what the fuck was he supposed to do? You do realize he can’t actually see the future right? He just guesses the likeliest outcome based on his knowledge of the past (eg: When he says he doesn’t know if Dragonfire will kill the Night King because no one has ever tried it) he knew that Arya was there and he knew she had the skills and the opportunity to kill the NK so he guessed that was their best chance, because there was literally no other way to end the battle.
@Erinya5585 жыл бұрын
theconstruct67 well then why aren’t you writing for TV instead of dishing your wisdom in KZbin comment sections? You obviously didn’t actually read any of what I wrote because I already said and it is well established: BRAN CAN NOT SEE THE FUTURE, ONLY GUESS IT. And accepting the throne doesn’t mean he WANTS it, only that he sees absolutely no one better, and if you honestly think Sansa makes a better ruler than Bran then I must have missed the episode when she suddenly was able to see all of history and all things present. As for not caring about that fictional world, why have you spent ten years following a show all about the fate of said fictional world? I’m sorry if that came across as rude but maybe just don’t be so arrogant next time, and if I’m wrong, then prove it; write a screenplay, get it published, and you can spend all day telling people on KZbin that you know better than professional writers.

@@Erinya558 @theconstruct67 Guys, guys, let's get along, yeah? You both agree that the ending wasn't that great and it was rushed. We can all agree that G.R.R.M will construct the ending in such a way that would make sense. I personally prefer Jojen and Meera era Bran over 3 eyed Raven Bran by a landslide, but he doesn't become such in the books. We can all agree that G.R.R.M will have us all satisfied when the Winds of Winter and a Hope for Spring arrive. Maybe we'll also learn what "You Know Nothing Jon Snow" means. We all know that D&D did a horrible job writing and rushing GoT and while the ending is questionable, had it been written properly, I'm sure everyone would be happy with Bran as the King of the 7 (or 6) Kingdoms.

Here’s a solution. If you watch up until S6E10 titled Winds of Winter if I remember correctly, it feels like a complete conclusion to the series. Dany returns home to Dragonstone, Jon is named King in the North, Cersei blows up the sept and becomes queen. It does still leave loose ends such as the army of the dead and Cersei but just remind yourself how that played when it actually happened. In my head I just like to think that’s the true ending to Got and the books just continue on from there.

Once she had to lead free people who don't want to bend the knee only because her father was king the only thing left for her was to burn them as she did to all her adversaries the entire series. TheDraven125 as others have pointed out, remove the city ringing the bells and the refusal by Cersei to give in would be sufficient for Dany’s turn in that episode - then of course she’d have to recognise that in the next episode. They had 73 episodes and 5 books to help them, they knew when they were ending and the direction they were going and two years to plan and execute it. Countless other series maintained their quality well beyond that episode count and against network production pressures - there’s really no reason to argue that they’d have done better with more time (they were even offered more time by HBO), they just aren’t particularly talented writers on their own (as shown by their Wolverine: Origins screenplay)
@davereyez47215 жыл бұрын
BOOK SPOILERS BELOW If they wanted Dany to "snap" into madness instead of a slow descent, then they should've added in fAegon from the books. Have fAegon take over King's Landing from Cersei so he would be the final enemy that Dany will face instead. He will have a stronger claim to the throne and the common folk will love fAegon for taking out the corrupt Cersei so Dany will arrive at King's Landing with her foreign army and will be highly unwelcome and unloved by them. When the battle starts, Dany's dwindling forces will be outnumbered by fAegon's Golden Company and when she is on the verge of defeat and has lost everything and does not want to give up the whole reason she came to Westeros, she will go berserk on Drogon and turn King's Landing into ashes knowing that the people will never accept her over fAegon. No need for the bells and surrendering nonsense. And it would be a lot more interesting to see her actually rule over King's Landing for a bit rather than have her killed in the first 20 minutes of the next episode.

They could have had Missandei executed right before the siege, and had the people of Kings Landing applauding it or cheering it on. It would've made at least a bit more sense. But nope, they just throw it at you with no real rational basis, because oh she experienced two close deaths (even though her entire family was slaughtered as a kid and is used to experiencing death) and her position is slightly challenged by Jon. So disappointed such a great show betrayed its characters so much because the showrunners were just done with it.

I havent read the books in forever so i cant remember all the details but in Season 1, Cersei explains to Catelyn that her son got sick and died and she said that she would pray to the Mother to bring Catelyn's son back to her. for that shit of season eight we have to blame the screenwriters but I loved that: Daenerys is dead, Arya kills the Night King, Jon returns to the barrier and Bran climbs the throne, because if you think about it you see that for all these seasons he saw the future and he knew that all this was going to happen, but he didn't say anything and you know why, why he wanted power at all costs, so in the end the Night King was good while Bran was the real villain all this time.

Agree with every other scene but #4 Shireen's death was one of the most powerful scenes (albeit heartbreaking) and did set into motion the deserting of Stannis's troops. Add to that the depths of which Stannis stoops just to get Winterfell, Shireen's mother turning from her usual spiteful self (hating shireeen for merely existing) and actually wanting to save her in those last moments realising she was her only child.

What they did to Stannis in the back half of season 5 made me rage quit during the finale of that season but I pushed through telling myself it's part of a bigger picture and it'll be worth it in the end (it wasn't). Other rage inducing moments: Barristan Selmys death. Roose Bolton saying "The Lannisters" instead of "Jaime Lannister sends his regards" The connection between the Starks and their wolves being heavily underused and mostly irrelevant. Davos jumping to Jons corner after Stannis dies. The whole Dorne plot. Littlefingers death. And from season 8 The tactics of the defense of Winterfell The Nightkings anticlimatic end. The biggest thing that has ever made me rage on this show though is.. Greyworm, the unsullied and Dothraki letting Jon live and not destroying the 7 kingdoms after Dany is murdered. The whole scenario is ridiculous and betrays the entire point of the story. I can accept a lot of the shit that comes with GoT since when it's at it's best it is incredible but these are most of the points that take me out of the show completely and bring it down from a great story to a good one.

They should of justified all the forced emotions they were trying to throw onto her. Like her paranoia about Jon, why not have Jon kill the nightking and be seen as the hero by all the people, at least that explains her fears if everybody is praising him instead of it being his best friend being a good side man. Have Jon grow a personality and maybe deep down he does desire the iron throne. Have Sansa do some shady Littlefinger shit. Give Euron black magic like in the books to make him a more formidable foe to Dany (imagine if he summoned a kraken to grab Rhaegal out of sky and drag him underwater instead of using scorpion bolts) Have more scenes of Dany liberating the kingdom only for the common people to reject her. There's so much potential but the writers just decided to go with the easiest and simplest choice that required no effort.
@SavageRicktator5 жыл бұрын
@Typhoo Lannister I completely agree the writers took the easiest way out possible. Euron easily got the drop on Rhaegal despite the high vantage point in the sky. Dany should of spotted the Greyjoy fleet approaching. Instead of fleshing out the story and showing more of Dany's ruthlessness with a few more seasons. Shortcuts were taken and everything was forced it was unnatural and totally out of character

I actually think that Dany going mad made a lot of sense. If you rewatch the series there are actually plenty of hints. She’s power hungry from season 1 on. When she leaves Dario during the middle of the series she even says that she doesn’t “feel anything” in response to leaving someone she thought she loved.

Youlo King I had major problems with the series since season 5. I found that people who had previously overlooked/downplayed or defended choices by the writers lost all hope after episode 3 - so the continued poor choices had little left to protect them and they were subject to the full scrutiny of the audience. Such a waste. Such a terrible, terrible waste.

Have to disagree with the #1 slot. The murders might have had a small role to play in her swaying to the dark side, but it was John not returning her affection anymore, AND her knowing that he was the rightful heir to the throne, that broke the camel's back. Considering that she warned "Fear it is, then", after John was given one last chance at showing his love for her...and failing, her snapping at the Bell tolling (not to mention that she was also betrayed by Tyrion, and he's the one that begged for a stand down if the bell rings) was EXACTLY what should've been expected. Bran becoming King or Shereen's burning at the stake should've been #1.

I can think of two easy fixes off the top of my head. 1. Arya uses her faceless training to disguise herself as a white walker and stealth kills the Night King that way. 2. Danerys is some kind of direct provokation before she goes postal (eg. Cersei orders an attack on her dragon even though the bells have already rang) and Danerys flips out in response to that in the heat of the moment.
