@@GoldenSirius I honestly don't think the gap is that. I believe they do care, but, are not as comfortable with their passion as Tom, at least on "screen". I am being very presumptuous in making such suggestions, but, Sam is definitely, based on my watching him for over 5 years, not comfortable showing his emotions - call it typical male behavior, blah blah. And Zee is comfortable being blanketed in his effective sense of humor.

Chess was originally based on the concept of war. Chataranga is the earliest version of what became Chess. Comes from India and was a battle between 4 players. They worked (alliances) together to beat out 2 of their opponents, and then turn against each other. Yep, war game.

New Top Ten List of "Games That Brought People to Gaming"

Ran my BGG plays through the Pub Meeple ranking engine and got my current Top 10: 1. Pandemic Legacy: Season 1 2. Eldritch Horror 3. Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game 4. Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game 5. Secret Hitler 6. The Pursuit of Happiness 7. Clank!: A Deck-Building Adventure 8. Xia: Legends of a Drift System 9. Western Legends 10. Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia Like Zee I combined the Pandemics into a single listing under Pandemic Legacy (the best of that family). I like the new Arkham Horror 3rd ed but not as much as Eldrtich Horror, I prefer the world hopping setting in Eldritch and I like the wider variety and greater replayability of content with all the expansions (I don't think I liked the bag drawing mechanic in Arkham Horror, it kind of bogged things down.) Legendary: Marvel is my go-to solo board game. I can set-up and play a full game solo in about 45 minutes, and with all the expansions it's never the same game twice. Aside from wishing there was a digital version of it so I didn't have to constantly reshuffle cards that game is great, it's easily one of my most played games. (Clank! is also a really good deck builder, it's just now quite as good solo and I like the Marvel theme better.) Battlestar Galactica and Secret Hitler are close. I give Galactica the edge mainly because I like it about as much as an actual thematic cooperative game as I do for the social deduction aspect. Secret Hitler is solely a social deduction game, so while it's probably my favorite pure social deduction game I prefer Galactica overall since it's a lot more than just identifying a traitor. Pursuit of Happiness is just a fun game all around, it's essentially the Game of Life re-imagined for gamers. Everybody I've played this game with has really liked it and the expansion was a solid addition as well. The games above it are ones I play more frequently but when I'm looking for a game I can play with non-gamer friends or family this is up at the top of my list. Choosing between Xia and Western Legends was tough! They're both very sandbox games with some interesting mechanics and a wide variety of ways to score victory points. In the end I edged Xia up a notch in part because with the expansion it also has a really interesting solo/co-op mode that can be played as a campaign where you gain permanent benefits between plays, so that alone means it's more replayable for me as a solo game or if I play co-op with a friend. But Western Legends is a superb game, no doubt! Honorable mentions that didn't quite make the top ten: Ex Libris (another game that's fun solo), Argent: The Consortium (a really interesting worker placement game with a ton of theme and replayability, albeit a long one) and Nothing Personal (I don't get to play it as much as I'd like but it's a terrific negotiation game with a fun theme that doesn't get mentioned on Dice Tower much since Tom helped make it and I'm betting he doesn't like the idea of talking about his own game.)

I wish I've played 100 different games! I have been collecting games over the last 3 or so years, right after my friend opened my eyes to the world of board games. I assumed most board games came from Wal-Mart lol (Some sarcasm). Now I have a pretty fun collection so far, just under 20 games. So I will base my top 10 based on what I own, in no particular order. 1.Betrayal at House on the Hill2.Dead of Winter3.Scythe: I printed off the war track, so much better. I plan to get the expansion pack one day. 4.Terraforming Mars5.Imperial Settlers.6.Captain Sonar 7.Power Grid8.Mysterium9.Resident evil deck builder 10. Caverna (Bought it for my brother in-law)

I love the Others too Zee-"but it's not the game anyone expected", which is the 1st thing I always hear when people describe this game. That CMON discount was insane-I already have everything, but maybe now that more people got it at a crazy low price, they'll appreciate all the amazing things it has to offer. I'm not saying I recognize or agree with a lot of the criticism, but absolutely love so many things about it-how tactical the movement is-It's hard to understand that part of it without actually playing it. Also it's one of those games where being the heroes or the Overseer are just as fun. I love how 'disposable' the heroes are in service of winning the game and then you getting a new one, with the finite amount acting as 'lives'. There are just so many variables that change up the game: The Sin, The Scenario, The Map Variants, The Hero choices....I've heard all the criticism, but at the end of the day, I've grown to to like this game more and more. Very clean design. If you want to play a dungeon crawler-this is not that, but if you want to play Apocalyptic Chess-This is your game.

Buying a separate box for a game really depends on the game. I have the Ultimate Collector's Case for Sentinels of the Multiverse because it's a lot easier than carrying all of the expansions packed in five different boxes. Of course, I now need a hand truck to carry the Collectors Case filled with cards.

Re : deception murder in Hong Kong - I played with a group of 12 everyone had a ball and 3people didn't even have cards in front of them. I come with 'law and order' theme and sound bites to add suspence and humour - it's not my all time fav game, but it is the best game available for the style of play.

Not a whole lot of overlap on the lists. The only game to appear in everyone's top-50 was Blood Rage (including People's Choice). I might have missed something, but the only games I noticed on three lists from the top-50 were: Ticket to Ride, Champions of Midgard, Deception: Murder in Hong Kong, and Kemet.

Before Tom names his number 1 game I suspect Zee may have been thinking he was about to say the Extraordinary Adventures Pirates! game. It had a live play recently, it has a Kickstarter, is been mentioned in Board Game Breakfasts, been mentioned at the end of these lists as sponsors and even listed in several video descriptions of late when the video had nothing to do with it. 🙄 I think he was getting his face ready in case Tom said it was his number 1. 😁
