Wizard. Trick taking card game. My mom showed me how to play back in the early 90’s. We still play it once and awhile. She still wins.

My mom is a gamer, so she's usually down for anything. She's the one who got me into board gaming (Seven Wonders, Ticket to Ride, etc). Recently, she's LOVED Skull King cause all us "kids" go crazy and piratey. My Mother in law is less of a gamer, but I've gotten her to play a couple games (usually trick taking - fox in the forest, crew, etc.)

My mom started my love of games. She was the queen of Scrabble but would play ( and often win) any game any time! We were always trying new games: word games, card games and board games.She passed away a few years ago at age 84.

I can't convince my mom to play board games...yet, she's in her late 60's. My husband's mom who is in her late 60's as well has played Pandemic, Trekking the Ntnl Parks, and Pit with us and is super competitive 😁

What is the link between moms and spring? Perhaps the Greek myth of Demeter and Persephone is part of the answer. Hades has kidnapped Persephone and after some intermediation of (I think) Zeus, a settlement was struck that Persephone leaves for Hades (the underworld) in autumn and return to Demeter in the spring, which makes Demeter happy thus leading to the blossoming of nature (after the "sad" period of winter.

I almost got my mom a trick taking game last christmas, but then I opted out. We used to play a trick taking game all the time back in the day, so I figured she would like it. Turns out she just endured it to hang with our neighbours. At this point I have given up finding a game for her.

She's adding your youtube channel and she's a proud little 66 year old! My mom kicks ass in Blood Rage, and is generally prone to liking games with some level of combat in them: Unmatched, Champions of Midgard, Raiders of the North Sea, Small World, Kemet and Age of War. Her favorites, however, are Dice Throne and Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries. Contrary to the statement on auction-games being an appealing to moms genre, mine didn't quite dig Cyclades as much as any of the others mentioned.

Mostly play The Crew with my mom because of the trick taking. My mom liked base Carcassonne because of the jigsaw puzzle like nature of building the board. I’ve played Patchwork and Shotten Totten with her and she thought it was okay. I played Ticket to Ride and Karuba also and she seemed to like those. My parents favorite game is Racko and Rook.

I have introduced a lot of games with my mom, most have gone over well...one however will not be played again... Seven Wonders Duel. 😅 Your choices are spot on. A couple others that really worked great for me were Ohanami, Hanamikoji and Jaipur. Recently, we played the Red Cathedral. Not one to spring on a "new to games" mom. She got the hang of it on the second playthrough. One day we'll get to Caylus! 😉

Lots of great ideas in the comments. Definitely Takenoko. My mother loves the bamboo and the panda. Tried Wingspan. She really liked it but we would have to bust it out every month or the rules start to slip away. Ugh...that sounds depressing. Ticket to Ride is on the table quite a bit.
