Tomb raider is allowed to use rape rape as a character development tool, it is a serious thing that leads to serious emotional changes. The fact that people accuse them of stereotyping women is only suggestive that the critics are sexist, because rape really happens, to both sexes. Gaming is in a more positive light in the US than it is in the UK, so if i was to tell someone i was a games journalist, they'd give me that sort of look like 'oh well'. So not only is it an unnecessary job, but it gives the people in that area opportunities to sell out! which is despicable.

On the matter of Games Journalists: Does ANYONE take reviews on IGN or in Gameinformer seriously? I haven't given two cents what the big outlets think about games for years now and myself and most of my friends who are gamers get our reviews exclusively form people like Joe, totalbiscuit, and Yatzee. There seems to be a pretty universal consensus among serious gamers that the big "industry" reviewers can be bought and can't be trusted.

The industry pays attention when dissenting voices become widely known more trusted than their preferred 'reviewers' and don't like it. edit. Totalbiscuit exposed an example of this in his WTF is Shadow of Mordor? video where he told about the marketing firm paying youtube reviewers for favorable coverage. Jim Sterling too. Before that there was the controversy where MS paid youtube hosts for favorable coverage of the Xbox One. If you want to look that up look up "XB1M13", the code that was used for it.

In regards to Number #7, Platinum Games went to Microsoft and Sony but neither of them wanted to fund Bayonetta 2, and that's when Nintendo came in and funded the game, which means without Nintendo Bayonetta 2 would not even EXIST. That's reason enough for it to be an exclusive because SONY and Microsoft DIDN'T WANT THE SEQUEL ON THEIR CONSOLES

The Bayo2 exclusivity debate is a rather trivial one. When a new console comes out or a game comes out on a console you don't have like a Playstation or XBOX. You buy the console for the game without complaining. What difference does it make for Wii U? Franchises like Mega Man and Final Fantasy eventually switched from Nintendo to Sony. If you want to play Bayonetta 2 you will have to buy a Wii U.

Let's complain about MS for a few seconds... MS buying Rareware was f-ed up, since Perfect Dark and Perfect Dark Zero was exclusive for XBLA and XBox 360, respectively, AND that the games that they produced for NINTENDO were far more better than those that were being made. And their D-Pad on their controller sucks ass. And Sony... Sony has Tekken which is predominantly exclusive to Sony and its products. I like Tekken... And it sucks to see it mainly only on PS.

Arma 3 developers were completely out of their fucking minds for going into a island that has like a shitton of military bases, that is RIGHT ON THE BORDER with Turkey and Greece. Two nations that were about to engage in war 3 times in the last 20 years. The even stupider thing they though is creating a realistic MILITARY SIMULATION OF THE INVASION OF THE ISLAND. Now just hold of for a damn minute and think of this. Creating a game like this, on a place like this on a country that has REAL issues with their neighbours. If anything, they got off easy. They were forced to completely remodel the map, alter the story and change many names. Only and only then they were free to actually leave their prisons. The fact that the Chech Republic didn't go too serious with the whole ordeal was because they knew that the developers had fucked up on a whole other level, and if they took a side it would like going against Greece and pro-Turkey. Lesson of the story? Don't make a realistic combat simulation with location that are a spot on match with the real world on a place that is on a real "hot spot".

Uhg.....I really dislike Game Journalism. No one is happy with anything and everyone has the "I dislike your opinion so it is invalid" Mindset. Also some shady 'bribery' things and peoples biases don't make it any better. Yes I know we all have our biases, and it is very good if you state that you have one, but don't judge the entire game on your single gripe. An example is a review of GTA V. The reviewer stated he didn't like playing as the bad guy, which is fine, but if you rate the game on that one thing, then that causes flame wars and brawls. tl;dr: Game journalism shouldn't sway the ENTIRE industry.

How to resolve gamer-gate in four steps. 1. Recognize that both sides are talking about two different things. One side is concerned about gender inequality, the other about gaming ethics. Both are valid concerns that are not being heard because of terrible arguments and finger pointing. Discussion should be open and rational, not filled with childish name calling and tantrums. 2. Admit that gaming ethics should be inclusive of women in gaming. That means women are treated fairly/equally... not with a crutch because of their sex... and not with harshness because of their sex. This will produce mutual respect among male and female gamers and developers. Polarized anti-women and anti-male sentiments are ridiculous, as both are intricate and vital to the existence of games. Historically, men have contributed more, but women are interested and invested in contributing now and there is no reason why they shouldn't be able to. We need people with great ideas and discernment to weed out the garbage and increase our enjoyment as gamers. Yes, men and women are different, but in a wonderful way. Men tend to look for something to add to solve a problem, but women can find a way to reduce or conserve to solve a problem. Best example, Madeline Schroeder's contribution to Sonic. Everyone should have a fair shot and be judge on the content of their projects, not their gender/sex. 3. Acknowledge that ethical concerns can arise when intimacy is involved. No need to point at people, as that creates another conflict of ethics. Drawing attention to specific people can harm them. I think we should all just agree on this and say, maybe it's not a good idea to create any situation (sexual or not) where there is a conflict of interest. 4. Don't create problems where there weren't any. This is of the utmost importance. Don't over analyze a fraction of something and misrepresent the whole. This seems to be what keeps picking at a healing wound. Feminists are now looking for any inequality in games and inventing these massive inequalities when they aren't present, instead of addressing the real inequalities we do see; which for most people (men and women alike) aren't as terrible and offensive as feminists are proclaiming. Likewise, there are anti-feminists who continue to attack characters of individuals and are creating entire conspiracy theories to validate their offense. Neither side is helping nor contributing to resolving the problem. Just stop.

***** I'm actually in the same camp as you Leon. I'm a 360 gamer, but I don't whine because the PS3 gets tons of great exclusives like the Last of Us or Journey. Instead, I accept that fact that it's part of the game industry. I don't own a Wii U, but I think it deserves some good exclusives just like every other console out there. If you think about it, Bayonetta 1 was exclusive to the 360 and PS3, not the Wii, so the tables have turned. Maybe it's a different audience, but I think it's silly to whine about.

Well, seeing how terrible the WiiU is doing and has been doing, i wouldn't rule that i out. I could really see Nintendo go the route of Saga and pull out of the console market. Maybe stay in the handheld market as not really enough on offer in that department anyway. If PS3 and X360 Bayonetta fans really supported the game then it wouldn't have been a wii U exclusive. One of the reasons Bayonetta 2 didn't get funding was because the original sold like crap and publishers were too afraid to fund it. So Nintendo was the only one to actually fund the game and they have the right to make it an exclusive. So without Nintendo the game wouldn't even exist.

Tomb Raider: I think some people overreacting. The arrest in Greece: Greece's army is modeled after USA's and just like in USA and the rest of the world it's illegal to photograph army (vehicles, personnel, buildings and even its ground). Whoever do it, without special permission is automatically charged of espionage. Greeks had to arrest them even for the eyes of media (they let them go after a while) or else they would have to answer to others. For example, some army bases (and technologies) there are USA's, and they don't want to disappoint such strong allies.

the xbox and PS players are the reason the sequel was even made, only to have themselves alienated by it jumping to a different console then either of the original 2 completely cutting them out unless they buy it.
