I’m in California, been trying to land a help desk position for last 2 months. I have my CompTIA a+, ccna r/s, ccna Security certifications but still having trouble. Any recommendations?

It sounds like you're doing the right thing. Wes also suggested if there are local networking events that are IT-centric, this is a good way to get your name out there, LinkedIn is a great place to post your CV and associated skills as well as searching for recruiters. Try to market your skills to the widest audience, this can help to get your foot in the door.

Check out meetup.com and eventbrite.com to find groups/organizations near you. On Meetup at least(haven't used Eventbrite too much to yet), just set up an account and it will help introduce you to groups you may be interested in joining. From there, look for events and sign up! Congratulations on all those certs! I've been working on A+ reading Meyer's book and gesh it's tough. Not complex, just A TON of info.

Try a different state. California for some reason is very picky. So picky that they actually overlook qualified people. Go to Arizona, Kentucky, etc. Just think about moving. You will thank yourself later.
