I've been a long time Adobe user and I'm competent with photoshop and premiere Pro. I've always avoided after effects ... But I'm determined to learn it during lockdown. Watching your skills is highly inspiring. A definite subscribe .. going to have to work out how to get some of this stuff into my channel lol!!

Exact same situation, skilled in Photoshop, Illustrator and PR but I have always been intimidated with AE but things are changing now (not competent but being familiar is a big part of the process), I guess AE is the equivalent of Photoshop when it comes to videos
@AllTorque4 жыл бұрын
@@hadrielvalentino interestingly enough I spent the past 24-hours playing around with after effects. I feel like I've started to get to grips with it a little. What I understood that the section to the left of the timeline operates like lawyers in Photoshop it made it easier to grasp. Then it's been a case of learning the tools. I cut a car and created explosions this morning, with sound. Motion blur etc. Quite reasonable quality for early attempts. I guess we will all get there!!
@hadrielvalentino4 жыл бұрын
@@AllTorque By any chance is there a link for that one? I have been trying to do the car explosion effect too but haven't really started yet just watched a few tuts on it
@AllTorque4 жыл бұрын
@@hadrielvalentinoit wasn't a single video tutorial as such. I watched videos on how to use the roto tool. Then downloaded some free explosions and sound effects. Added some smoke and dust layers that I downloaded. Built them up in AE and added motion blur to the car that I cut out. If I had planned it in advance I would have been able to shoot the static shots of the scene without the car which would have been easier to edit.

6:22 you cant key with just one keylight, that's the illusion that after-effects sell you(mistakenly), more advanced tools like nuke are way more flexible & effective for despill & getting all the details like hair, fur & blur-defocus scenarios. Even grain its a deal-breaking. the fact that you cant fully work on the alpha channel in after effects make it harder to get a perfect key with no crazy edge colors or blurry details

The only thing you really needed to work on in the dust storm scene was having the dust interact with the persons body as it blew. He wasn’t disturbing the dust/smoke at all so it just looked like it was only blowing right in front of the camera but he wasn’t in the dust at all.

And what lenses would you recommend - was going to get the FE 35 1.8 and the 55 1.8 - but see a lot of content creators with zooms such as the Tamron 28-75/Sony 24-70 and the Tamron 17-28?
