Don't worry! It seems really daunting as you hear from your seniors, but as long as you understand the requirements and try to find enjoyment in what you're doing, you will do the best you can :)

It was definitely a bit tricky at first, as you probably experienced, but I think the IB prepared me pretty well for the pressure of uni! Hope your studies are going well :)

Yes in fact I did A LOT of sports on the side, having training nearly everyday whilst working on the weekends 😂😂😂 luckily my sport seasons around the time before mocks giving me some more free time before the actual exams so I carried on playing 😊 if this doesn't work out the same for you then consider how much time you need to revise. do homework and also RELAX and SLEEP!!! Try it out, if it doesn't work then do what's best for you 😉

Hi! im about to start ib in 2 weeks and im really starting to have doubts about subject choices :s I'm currently signed up to do HL Art, Physics and Maths and im reaally scared that i might not be able to handle the workload- Is HL maths really worth it?! considering dropping it

Hey! it's perfectly okay to be nervous! I actually had exactly the same HLs as you, yes HL maths requires a lot of attention outside of school as well as HL maths (HL physics too depending on which you find easier!). You should be alright but I'll let you know it can seem like a lot of work sometimes 😆😆😆

Also whether HL maths is worth it or not just depends on your UNI course, like engineering and economics require HL maths so then you don't really have a choice unfortunately 😞😞😞 but if it's not required like architecture (some require HL tho) then you only need to take SL maths which is way less stressful 😅😅😅

No offense, i just wanna make sure if we really need to only follow everything syllabus ask us to know? I mean is that enough for exam? I am taking ESS but i think syllabus questions sometimes are just a small part of the book knowledge, could you please answer my question?? Thanks a lot!

I think it's super crucial to know the syllabus points, as these are the majority of the questions that will be asked in the exam. Ofc the high level 6-7 questions will take these points a step further to test your understanding so it's super important to do enough pastpapers to see the question types!

They are actual exam papers that were examined in the years before. If I remember correctly, there are 2 sessions one in Nov and May so there's plenty of them out there! Reddit is a great place to find them and try asking your teachers/tutors for them :)

Hey!!! Awesome which school you going to?? Yeah SL Physics should be okay to take even if you didn't take it in GCSE. If you wanted to do HL then I'd definitely say no! 😂 There will be some basic thing you won't understand yet but others will, but don't worry! It might take you a little extra time to understand it 😊

well in both cases for HL you have to learn more texts than SL and in the exam you have to write a comparative essay, whilst SL just write an analytical one (which can include comparisons but is not necessary to score high marks!)

hey!! you should be able to get most of your past papers from school if you ask your teachers! they may not print it for you so you'll have to do that at home, so they'll either send them to you or if your school has a webstie then you could download them from there! if you want to search online you could try typing in HL maths past paper may 2013, or part of the past paper code which starts off like MATHL/5/..../M13 (this is on the top right of exam paper) if you add /M on the end it should give you the markscheme hahaha 😄
