The soundtrack of Avatar was my favorite. It was different from "typical" movie soundtracks, yet very beautifully written and memorable and it suited the movie perfectly.

Servals To me Avatar always sounded like an ethnic version of Titanic's score, at least when you compare the main themes. I guess that worked for me because my 2nd favorite James Horner soundtrack is from _Avatar_ lol
@JorgechorcxPappy
@JorgechorcxPappy 9 жыл бұрын
Gundamn Mechahunter The score to Avatar has recycled elements from the score of Apocalypto. If you compare the chanting of Eywa with the opening of Apocalypto with track is From the Forest and the ending To the Forest... it sounds exactly the same with minor modifications.

@FranticAnimations 10 ай бұрын
@@JorgechorcxPappy Horner recycles himself a lot but so do most composers. Horner at least gave it an interesting ethnic flair with the vocals and some instrumentation.

@@FranticAnimations yes I agree that James Horner did a great job in making Avatar a more friendly and magical world where as in Apolalipto its more dark but what you say it is the same for both. I encourage you hear the theme from Apocalipto, "From the Forest" then tell me your opinion on the matter.

I'm glad Cocoon made this list. It's one of his most overlooked and underrated scores. I was an 80's kid and Cocoon always stood out to me even when I didn't have any understanding of film. It was really because of the music. Horner's range and expressiveness is a delightful match for the unusual mix of drama, comedy, science fiction, and fantasy. Along with Flight of the Navigator (which also took place in Florida and involved benevolent aliens on majestic ships) they are permanent guilty pleasures of mine.

There were tears watching though this whole thing. My favorite musical artist. Own 26 of his soundtracks. Was out driving to Aliens score earlier. Nothing gets me more pumped than his 'Futile Escape' track. Though not listed, think my all time favorite work of his is Journey of Natty Gann. Was so disappointed growing up an official soundtrack was never originally released on the film's launch and added resentment towards Disney for that. But thankfully few years ago a beautiful limited edition was released. Also the score to 'Legends of the fall' is one of his most emotional pieces. My musical tastes were always 'Beatles, Horner or GTFO'. Nobody moved me more emotionally than you did Horner. Thank you for making up the soundtrack to my life.

No feedback criticism to Mojo because I love all James Horner's Musical Score from the 80's through 10's. His legacy becomes a classic masterpiece of movie musical experience from the theme, the score, and the intention of being hype for listening more orchestration. So here's my top 10 favorite James Horner Scores of all time: 10. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) 9. Braveheart (1995) 8. Jumanji (1995) 7. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) 6. The Pagemaster (1994) 5. Balto (1995) 4. Aliens (1986) 3. An American Tail (1986) 2. Titanic (1997) and... 1. The Land Before Time (1988) As for honor of James Horner, we wish we would give him rest of peace of all his hard work of making musical scores in movies. I wish the Academy Awards will dedicated him for his last song of "My Heart Will Go On" for his last score. Farwell.

James Horner made a brilliant genius mind of musical and brilliant soundtrack movies. I remembered his work on The Pagemaster, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Jumanji, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and more. He also composed Once Upon A Forest. Of course, he’s the best man of all beloved movies. Like Titanic, Avatar, The Land Before Time, An American Tail, Braveheart, Aliens, etc.

Seriously The Land Before Time has one of the best scores ever composed, how is it only an honorable mention! Still do a Top 10 Danny Elfman scores (Batman would probably be #1 though).

The lack of recognition for The Mask of Zorro's music in the video, comments, and poll is absolutely disappointing. To anyone who's a fan of film scores, you owe it yourself to listen to that soundtrack. Or hell, just pay attention to it while watching the movie. IMO, it's easily one of Horner's top three best compositions along w/ Titanic and Braveheart.

I think the one film score of his career that will always be overlooked is the score for An American Tail: Fievel Goes West. The score for that film is in a way a tribute to the western musicals of the 1950s and the 1960s. It is a lot of fun and upbeat. When I think of James Horner I think of that score.

Horner is one of my favorites of all time. Personally, I think Glory should be number one, but it's a solid list. Rocketeer and Braveheart are particularly brilliant, Land Before Time is beautiful, and Casper deserves at least a mention, but overall the guy was a genius.
