Titanic would have had one less death if Rose wasn't hogging all that wood...
@jamesd4719 жыл бұрын
That's what she said
@shona55129 жыл бұрын
Judging by Kate Winslet's height, the door looks to be around 6'x3'x5". The door, in Freezing salt water, would have a buoyancy of 2490N when multiplied by the density of the water. At the time of the movie Rose weighed around 125lbs (549N), Jack weighed around 161lbs (715N). There were three types of wood on the Titanic, Teak, Oak & Pine. A Teak door that size would have a buoyancy total of 2440N (which would barely float on it's own, never mind with Rose on top.) Oak would have a total buoyancy of 1147N, and Pine would have a total buoyancy of 617N (But we can tell it's not Pine because in the movie, it showed Jack attempting to get on the door, which started to sink.) So, add the fact that the oak door would be an additional 1147N and you would be close to exceeding the 2490N limit. And while the door wouldn't become completely submerged, would still cause for both Jack and Rose to sink into the water. Meaning that even if they had managed to get the balance perfect, each of them would have died of hypothermia due to contact with the freezing water before being rescued.

Darryn Witzgall Actually, if Rose had stayed on the lifeboat, then Jack could have found his own way to survive, perhaps by getting alone on the same door.

Jack Hatcher I don't know why people give Man Of Steel so much crap for the few dozen to a couple of hundred people who died! Sure, Superman could have done what they showed in HISHE but then the movie would have been boring, and if Superman hadn't fought Zod's group then millions of people could have died as well. Plus, a lot of superhero movies now have scenes where innocent people get caught in the crossfire these days (remember Green Lantern, Spiderman, and the Batman films?), and for older films even if they didn't show it, I'm sure people still got hurt/killed off-screen (remember the original Superman film?). Finally, as CinemaSins pointed out, the Star Trek Films, Terminator, Avatar, and Pacific Rim had WAY MORE people die yet no 1 seems to talk about that so give Man Of Steel a break about the deaths since in actuality that film's death count is lower than many others.

Jesse Torres I don't remember ever saying the death count was a bad aspect of the film..? This comment and my reply is in direct response to the recent Batman V Superman trailer where a part of it depicts a newspaper headline that says 'Dozens die in Wayne Tower collapse', stupid because it's an entire building.. and pretty much the entire city got leveled dunno why that was on the headline. Either way, I never said it was a bad aspect..
@tylerkeller88696 жыл бұрын
The scene in Titanic, after the ship has fully sunken below the waters surface, the camera pans out to show all of the screaming, terrified passengers in the water. I can't imagine how it must have actually felt to be there that freezing night, but I also can't imagine a director more able to portray the terror and sadness on screen. No pun intended, but it gave me chills.

Kinda surprised Return of the Jedi isn't on here anywhere, considering that the Battle of Endor ended with ~2,757,783 casualties... That number is just the Death Star II, Executor, and that one Mon Calamari cruiser that blew up too... all of which were on-screen. If you add everything else that got destroyed (countless rebel AND Imperial battleships, cruisers, frigates, destroyers, fighters, etc)... that'd bring it up to more like ~3.5 million.

Tyrion Lannister Though i cannot confirm or deny this statement have a bit of faith Tyrion. To quote a theory "Think back to season three. Remember when Arya and Gendry ran into the Brotherhood Without Banners? Beric Dondarrion and The Hound get into a fight, and Beric ends up with a fatal wound. Instead of dying, Thoros of Myr, a priest who worships the Lord of Light, brings him back to life. As it turns out, Beric has died and been brought back multiple times, but each time, he loses a little bit of himself. Conveniently, Melisandre, aka the Lord of Light's biggest fan, is at Castle Black when Jon is murdered. Now that Stannis, who she thought was Azor Ahai, is dead, she may be looking for a new "chosen one" to follow. She and Jon did have some crazy tension over that burial fire that one time." Why else would Melesandra rode to castle black to suddenly. Its cause she saw my death in the fire and rode here to bring me back.

My favorite? Star Wars.Maybe not onscreen, but Alderaan supposedly had several billion inhabitants (this could well be number one on a "Most Evil Act in Cinema History" list. The novel Death Star had a whole chapter dedicated to the guy who pulled the trigger, and how wracked with guilt he was over the atrocity. Speaking of which, how many Imperials were killed during the Battle of Yavin? Well, it had two survivors total, Darth Vader being one of them. (Aside from a few Imperial defectors.) One count puts the number of Imperial casualties at two million. In addition, every X-Wing and Y-Wing pilot perished, (two survivors being Luke and Wedge).And that was small potatoes compared to the Battles of Hoth and Endor, which came later.

Was gonna say.. but at least you included one John Woo movie in there, even if it is an honorable mention.. But you gotta remember, all these were pretty much 'epics' and war movies, with the exception being like Titanic, but that's there for obvious reasons. Only Woo's "Hard Boiled" seemed to make it up there where the body count was the work of just ONE MAN(or two, if you count Tony Leung). IIRC, hard boiled/the killer had like around 100~(or just under), and most if not all of those was the work of Chow Yun Fat and his Dual Berettas. Have you guys already done the most kills in one movie done by one person/character? If not, then i suggest this topic for one of your future videos.

I love movies showing someone shooting a machine gun single handed and being accurate. Experts using two hands use 3 round bursts because full on auto causes the gun to lift up and you are shooting sky or ceiling.

What happened to Star Trek Into Darkness? When the Vengeance smashed into San Francisco it practically demolished a quarter of the city... that's a lot of people...

Braveheart, transformers: dark of the moon, Star Wars episode IV: a new hope, any terminator movie, the day the earth stood still, or fury all would've been great contenders for the list

Ah, glad Starship Troopers got a nod at the end. I was going to say "Hey! What about Starship Troopers?!?!?" They did destroy Rio de janiero after all and the screen shows a skyrocketing count on that. Then there's all the battles and slaughters. Yikes! -Die Hard 2 might be worth a mention. Lotsa gun play and two downed airplanes; that's gotta be a couple hundred dead.

The differance between titanic and the 2nd and 3rd lotr films was that the lotr films had many death scenes of stupendous amounts to enjoy.

One other to consider is Terminator 3. Judgement Day did occur, and that was said to kill 3 billion people.

Star Wars IV -- millions dead on Alderon, Star Wars III - the whole Jedi order, plus all the clones that died in the War, Star Trek (2009) -- millions on Vulcan, plus a FLEET of starships all had more death in them then Titanic

This raises a question....who ACTUALLY counts how many people die on screen? Not sure if that's accurate either.

Dr. Strangelove- literally everybody on the planet dies. Star Wars Episode IV- a ship full of rebels, 2 criminals in a bar, just shy of 2 full fighter squadrons, 2 farmers, a bunch of aliens, everybody on the Death Star (a hollowed out moon sized military base), and an ENTIRE planet

Geostorm 2017 should've been on this list.With so many natural disasters that NASA literally loses control off because it gets hacked by the orders of a well-intended but ruthless assistant of the US President in the movie(spoiler alert),many lose their lives due to ice storms,hurricanes,and even tsunamis.Don't know the exact amount,but I can tell it's deadly!

Starship Troopers should at least have an honorable mention in here for the disastrous Battle of Klendathu.

Top ten casualties needs to redefined. After a certain point, in any film, sadly, and in real life, the death count just becomes a statistic. A death count based on the number of main characters killed should be tabulated. Of all the films watched, the one film that is the most disturbing in the number of main characters killed has to be The Departed. I thought Martin Scorsese didn't have the visceral directorship to make another cut-throat film... I was so wrong. Almost everyone dies in the film. All your left with is supporting actors. No villain, no bad guy, no good guy.... really nobody important.
