You missed a HUGE DETAIL!!! It was a complete slap in the face to "True Matrix" fans who watched the originals, played the video games, read the comics, and this is the best Wachowski can do? And the ending was understandable in Matrix, with Neo flying off. But an exact copy of that and ALL THE OTHER LINES/SCENES! Stop kissing up to WB Daddy and call it what it is: a wasted opportunity to bring life back in the world the Matrix created in the summer of 1999, not this pile of 💩💩💩

@@tinnilesculpepper2431 because it's a meta joke from Wachowski and her co-writer. It's honestly a slap in the face of those of us who are true fans. This movie is garbage. Great cinematography, great use of lighting, okay on the CGI, and then where in the living hell was the good story to go along with it? And I swear to God if I hear mets one more time I'm going to go nuts!

Hmmm perhaps Trinity and Neo being "the one" together also goes back to the Greek mythology where humans, that had two faces four arms and four legs, were too powerful so they were split into two- looking for their other half all their lives.... I'm pretty sure you're wrong about any pandemic reference. "The Viral Agent" is clearly Agent Smith who like a computer virus spread and took over the entire matrix. "Knuckle Up" is a war cry used in the original trilogy. And lastly face masks have always been common in public spaces in Japan before the pandemic.

I'm sure we all rewatched the trilogy leading up to seeing M4. The whole "only dangerous when together" point is clear to see in the three films. We see the lengths they go to for each other. It should have surprised no one and if there isn't any more films after this one it is a much better ending to the whole story than Revolutions.

I have to admit that I'm fine with the new take on the story, making it meta-self referenced. I think this approach is a lot more original than trying to carbon copy the 1st Matrix and make a direct , linear continuation of the story which inherent concepts were based on a cyberpunk commentary on end of the century corporate America. 20 years have passed and the world, culturally and socially, has changed, so the writers had to adapt and come up with something new, based on the old. Fine with that, HOWEVER, the Matrix 1 is, and will forever be, a milestone in the art film making, whereas Matrix 4 is just a pasable, fun film, but that's about it. it's as if the parodic, self-referenced approach, brighter tone and excesive over-exposition prevent the film from becoming more than just a revisionist exercise.

*here's what I liked:* - the cinematography - Keanu and Carrie Anne's chemistry - the cast was really great - the concept - the action scenes - the nostalgia of the original matrix movies - Keanu Reeves *dislikes:* - pacing is too quick near the end - storyline isn't that great compared to the original - didn't have the original vibes from the movie - talking parts kinda boring - action was cool but not as good or iconic as the original - nothing too memorable in this movie - the plot of just saving Trinity seems too simple for such a complex movie - not as good as I was expecting it to be but still fun to watch - villains are weak and the new agent Smith isn't as evil or as iconic as the original

Unpopular opinion: I thought Jonathan Groff did a pretty decent job as Smith, the only problem was that he was cast under Hugo Weaving's shadow and that there wasn't much of a point to recast the agent when Groff could've played a different character. I feel as this is a huge disservice to Hugo's performance in the franchise, to Groff and the iconic villian.

I think it was a call for people to wake up. The message I got from the movie - people are giving up on fighting for freedom. We allow to be controlled because either we are scared or we want to keep living in our comfort zone. We don't like to make an effort. We sell our freedom to avoid complications in our live. You can see it now. It happens very slowly... but eventually we will also loose our comfort zone.

Too many things bothered me to say this movie was great. I'd say it was top 2 of the series, the Matrix being the best. Problems were, Why was Agent Smith back? His program was purged at the end of 3, aka, deleted. If they can just be brought back then why was that woman program whining about losing her parent's programs? Neil Patrick Harris's character had the power to rewind time, yet he only used it once? I thought Agents were these OP programs and only Neo could beat, yet the random human goons take some out like they are nothing. And the new "Swarm mode" was very stupid as well. The swarms was just cannon fodder for the humans. How is a swarm ever better than a handful of Agents? lol. Rant over, I don't want this response to be super long. It was still better than the 2nd Matrix.

To be really honest with you, I have enjoyed every second of The Matrix Resurrections with their references, easter eggs, incredible acting and amazing narrative including a trip down memory lane. Also, the thought that Lana used the film to be a videogame has a lot to cover from The Game Awards where Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss introduced the demo of Matrix Awakens which is cool. The problem, however, is that the future of this film is uncertain because it's not a movie, it's an event but a movie nonetheless. I know that some people will beg to differ with my review here but the secret for these films is not just to watch them, it's to feel them and emphatize with them, take the liberty to find the meaning of the whole story. It's just my legitimate opinion. All i'm offering is the truth. Nothing more.

@@knives6683 Actually, Agent Smith should have not been in the 4th movie at all. At the end of 3, he was purged (That means deleted). And the person playing Morpheus wasn't really Morpheus. It was explained in the beginning. Neo did a experiment where he made a program that was half Morpheus and half Agent Smith and put it in a old modal on a loop. Overall, he was a decent character, but that cross arm shoot thing he did, was terrible. But, after watching it the second time, seeing it as a continuation of the original story, it made so much more sense, especially all the flaws and non-sensical stuff pointed out by the critics. here's the one thing i don't get about the movie: why do they get in and out of the Matrix using mirrors now? i mean, i get that they needed something to replace phone booths, AND that it ties into the 'Alice In Wonderland' themes that the series has always had, but I mean from a technical standpoint. with phone lines it makes sense because they're a literal connection to the computer, but mirrors are just surfaces that reflect light.

They wrote it when they were going through a sad time and someone read it and forced them to make it the new Matrix movie. I wouldn’t dig too deep into thinking this is some existential masterpiece. It would appear that Trinity and Neo are now collectively 'The One,' perhaps mirroring Lana's own transition, as some muse, but something is still missing. We can't see it, yet, but it's there, like a splinter in our minds. Reloaded and Revolutions showed us entirely new layers to the larger world that was The Matrix (original). Clearly, Resurrections was designed to do the same, but what if the entire film was not as it appeared? Might Lana have placed us all in a Matrix within a Matrix in Resurrections, to dream Neo's dream, ending as it began, like a dream? Because it was. Perhaps it's not that "Tom" created the Matrix films and a popular video game called The Matrix, as Resurrections wants to show us - it's that his newly revealed "real life" is a dream program still running within the Architect's "measure of control," and overseen by the Analyst, who very well might be the Architect himself playing the role of Tom's analyst within the Modal. This would mean Trinity is still dead, and Tiffany/Trinity is nothing but a "resurrected" NPC within the Modal, giving Neo purpose, but an empty one. Perhaps the Machines are testing out various Modals to see which version could never be escaped by anyone, including Neo, with the Architect still attempting to create the perfect Matrix overall, as it were. The line in Resurrections where Neo says, "I've had dreams that weren't just dreams," as well as what the Analyst tells him about his current "reality" are strong clues. This would explain the strangely disjointed, campy, dream-like theme to Resurrections itself. The entire film is not a prequel, but a computer-generated dream (that we each experienced) designed to expose the Anomaly's weaknesses so that all future "One's" would never expose the Machines own weaknesses, as Neo did. The Machine's knowing Trinity was a strong factor in Neo's power, would of course seemingly "resurrect" her to test Neo's abilities, hence the film's name. The Machines would be in need of an answer as to how Neo manifested in power to the point he did, if only to prevent another Anomaly from ever challenging the Machines to the extent he did. I heard there won't be a sequel, but if there were, we may find out the crushing reality that the Matrix is still a dark, cyberpunk world, where Morpheus and the Oracle still exist and are still trying to find Neo, as Neo slumbers somewhere deep within the Machine world being unwittingly experimented on by the Architect. Indeed, this sounds exactly like the thinking of a machine to me... ... ...
