I concur on the good old days sentiments, as a whole other generation felt exactly the same about the original Cannonball races, 1971-1979, car guy adventures continue, and it's great to know many still share the spirit.

I remember feeling like I was going to be in trouble for even watching one of those movies. My cousin had one and he even kept it on the hush. There's no way to describe those times to the younger generation. Late 90s, early 2000s, pre online media is an Era to behold.

That Mx6 is an Icon! I remember my friends arguing about whether it was some 240 variant or a. rX7. We were playing the game and the little video thing played and I was like, “that’s a Mazda dude, like the one my mom has!” I tried to talk my mom into lowering her MX6 and throwing some ridiculous body kit on it. Eventually she did put a set of Koenig Theory wheels on it, tinted the windows and when the clutch was replaced my dad bought an Excedy stage 2 clutch to throw in it . We had that car for a long time until around 2004-ish and it got traded in on a Pontiac Vibe Gt which the whole family hated. It got traded in after a year on a Blue WRX wagon.

Dude Michief was my education. Our friends and I would buy the digital versions online because the DVDs were not widely available. I worked at blockbuster video at the time and they stocked Michief 2 I think it was. I rented that film like 20 times and eventually bought it off blockbuster for like 7 dollars. Since then and I found the website I was hooked. Me and my mates would get on the beers and watch them all back to back and the next day go out and do crazy shit haha. This was early 2000s and in Australia so a lot less cop trouble back then. Hope you bring them back or start a new series soon...if you need a crazy Aussie I can be there :) .

@@A500-g6g yeah, they were now that I think about it. Those were high dollar cameras back then. I miss the crazy videos from back them. And he was right, you really can't do this anymore because of social media and modern cellphones. The 2000s was the last decade where you could get away with this stuff and not be traced within days. So many good videos of people and cars doing things they shouldn't back then.
@A500-g6g

@@joshuaholman7760 yhh man I'm actually only 20 myself lol. But I notice how things from back then were much more raw unscripted and just fun, now everything is too restricted and nannied. Like the gt2 in the video for example which rob is driving. First we'll probably never see a video like that again, and second the car itself 996 gt2 porsche, last one with a manual and no ABS or electronic aids, I love that. I'm into motorcycles a lot and the last of the 2 strokes came from that era also. Now cars are too heavy and uninvolving however there are some good ones I must like the t50 and zonda Cinque.

Why didn’t the group just bring a civil rights case against that municipality? You’d be in federal court, so no good old boy judge. Your attorney can recover fees in those cases. Illegal search, deprivation of property w/o due process, etc. and, you’d get good KZbin content. A good court record might even shame the paper to do a retraction.

This is amazing video concerning an amazing part of your life. I only wish I had been aware of your videos so that I too could have purchased copies. It does however remind me of a story which I hope you will find amusing. I made my living as an OTR owner operator. Sometimes I would be gone for a month or more so after discussions with my wife at the time it was decided that I needed an inconspicuous car that I could leave where I parked my semi when I went out so that I would have a way home when I returned without having to call her in case it was late. We decided on a new 1998 VW Jetta which was blue. Unfortunately, I can never leave well enough alone so during a period of the next six months it spent a considerable amount of time at my local foreign car facility called "Northern Motor Sports" I knew the owner and his chief mechanic (his brother) and since they were involved with the restoration and maintenance of a local collector 's fleet of Bugattis I had complete confidence in them as they turned my mundane Jetta into a European pocket rocket complete with Recaro bucket seats, 4 point racing harness, 2 inch ground clearance, stainless exhaust and a proven 160 mph top speed. Needless to say I no longer left it at the yard when I went out. In fact, I never even drove it in the rain and I spent all my money (I had a little under $130,000.00 so far by then) and free time on it. Much to the chagrin of my wife who had come to dislike the thing. I even won a couple of trophies with it at car shows as far away as Virginia (I live in New Hampshire). One day while I was out on the road she decided to take it outto run some errands. I don't know maybe her car was out of gas, it nearly always was, my wife was not a car person. You probably know where this is going. Before she returned from her errands she had been stopped twice and had a beauty of a citation to remind her. The car had to go. She was afraid I would kill myself in it. So the day I returned home it was traded for a new yellow Doge pickup. I think they gave me a little over $16,000.00 for it, a fraction of what I had invested for sure. I had told some of my friends what was taking place and one of them immediately went to the dealership and bought the car laughing at the idea that the dealership had no idea what they truly had. Unfortunately, two days later while street racing it near Hartford Connecticut he hit a curb, flipped it and lost his life. The car was totalled. Which goes to show you that you've got to know your limitations, in the cars you build, your relationships with your wife and the friends you tell when you go to sell your dream. I missed that little car for a long time but my wife was probably right. Eventually I would have done something really stupid that might have cost me my own life with it.
