I just got into the hobby this summer. I'm still getting an idea on how far I can go on the heaviness scale. I haven't tried a Lacerda yet, but when I first heard about the theme of The Gallerist I was intrigued until I learned about how heavy his games usually are. I still haven't tried it yet and plan to, but I always figured that's probably the heaviest I would ever want to go in a game even though he has several that are heavier than that. Now I hear about this Weather Machine from you all and all I have to say is let's hope I enjoy really heavy games. I'm a meteorologist and there's no way I can go without playing a game called Weather Machine. I'll be eagerly awaiting the updates on its development and watching closely.

I'm also new-ish to the hobby and I feel that the heavier games I play the more lighter games become almost too easy for me. I feel like playing heavier games is like working out a muscle the more you play them the more you enjoy them and find it easier to do.

What would you say it is the heaviest game you have played?
@izlude92833 жыл бұрын
ohhh you should try Lacerda games. Try his most well known games like Lisboa, The Gallerist, Vinhos and Kanban. On Mars is a bit more for heavy players. I've taughtLisboa and The Gallerist to my friends who are just casual players and they loved it! His games are not for everyone but if you liked it, they are all winners. ;)

Most of the designs I am happy to see being released this year (hopefully) are reprints, or new editions of older designs. I already own some, and have played many, but I am glad that they will be more widely available for others. Ra - Reiner Knizia - I could put many other Knizia titles on this list, so I will just use the biggest as a placeholder. John Company 2nd edition - Cole Wehrle - Mr. Wehrle made a fantastic game even better with Pax Pamir 2e, so I am hopeful he can do the same. It also does not hurt that this game will be published by him and his brother and not Phil Eklund this time. Dominant Species Marine - Chad Jensen - Chad Jensen’s final design, that in itself is enough to support it. Horseless Carriage - Jeroen Doumen, Joris Wiersinga - I am glad Splotter is starting to get the attention they deserve, and I will be interested in any design they have. Iberian Gauge & Trans Siberian Railroad - Tom Russell - Winsome games by Tom Russell. While there are not changes to the earlier designs, I think the market will be more receptive this time, if for no other reason than coming in a box instead of a plastic bag :)

Imperial Steam (from Capstone Games again I believe, same designer as Lignum) Other games include Carnegie, Stroganov, Sleeping Gods, Merchants of the Dark Road, Tabannusi, Arkwright: The Card Game, The Transcontinental, Cape May, Theme Parks, The Adventures of Robin Hood, Darwin's Journey, the deluxe versions of The Castles of Mad King Ludwig, Pax Renaissance, and Madeira, the expansion to Grand Austria Hotel, Golem, loads of 18xx games mostly from All-Aboard Games, and fingers crossed a few GMT P500 preorders!

Games in common on my list M: 5 N:1 , but it was very cool to hear about so many different games that didn't originally peak my interest. I think Arkwright the card game will be something that I will be looking into when it is released. Bad news about Weather Machine though, they announced that the Kickstarter is in November of 2021!! Booo so far away! Fingers crossed they send you a prototype copy to showcase for the Kickstarter. Other games coming out this year that I'm excited about in the world of expansions, Draftosaurus has two expansions that were just released, Fantasy Realms has an expansion coming out, Photosynthesis has one as well and finally Teotihuacan has yet another expansion that I'll be snatching up as soon as it comes out. As for new games, Cubitos, which is not my typical style of game, has made my list because of the fun aspect, but I'm hesitant that it might not be enough because it's a dice chucking game. I guess it would be my Honourable Mention. I'm very curious to know more about Golem when that comes out. I've got Namiji coming to me from the Kickstarter that is exciting as well as Adventures in Neverland. Darwin's Journey should come out by the end of the year, but you know all about that one already. I think my most anticipated game is Carnival Zombie. I first saw it played on BGG's Game Night nearly 5 years ago and it took years before the Kickstarter they mentioned in the video actually came to be and then there have been many delays in the production, so HOPEFULLY this is the year that it actually comes to the backers.

Horseless Carriage is easily my #1. I know Naveen had a poor experience with Food Chain, but I'm convinced if you did a Splotter series, Lacerda would go down to your #2 favorite designer :)

My top entry is undoubtedly Divinity: Original Sin - the board game. It is an adaption of the video game with the same name (more like the second one) and unlike many such adaptions, it is developed in-house, so the writing team for the video game was used here as well. It is a co-operative RPG, with mechanics resembling quite a few dungeon crawlers, in the sense that you get ability cards that you can upgrade or add new ones as you level up, as well as gain new equipment cards that can affect your abilities, etc. It is a story-heavy game, though, so not Naveen’s thing, if I remember correctly. Other than that, I am also looking forward to Oath, which I backed on Kickstarter. I don’t believe I need to explain why, Cole Wehrle is an incredible game designer and all of his games leave a mark. There are a couple of other Kickstarter games I am expecting this year, like (hopefully) the new edition of Carnival Zombie, a co-operative survival game, where you need to survive a zombie apocalypse set in Venice during carnival. The game features asymmetric mechanics among players, as well as a dexterity mechanic (!) that could make your game easier or more difficult. It has great art and incredible miniatures and the game is much deeper than it may appear at first glance. Another Kickstarter game that should come out this year is Intrepid, a space-themed co-operative game, with a dice assigning and manipulation mechanic, very similar to The Red Cathedral, by the way. Speaking if the latter, it hasn’t arrived in our local game stores yet, so I’m looking forward to that, too. Veiled Fate, yet another Kickstarter game, looks very promising, a combination of worker placement and social deduction, where you can move all player pieces on the board, but at the same time you don’t know which ones belong to the other players. It looks a lot of fun. ISS Vanguard looks very interesting so far, but I decided to stay away from its crowdfunding campaign as I have a lot of projects backed already and I’d like to see more impressions before I make my mind. But it looks very well thus far, so I will be following its progress. Other games on my list include the new edition of Hugh Rise, whose Kickstarter campaign I joined because of your video :) Also, while technically not a game, I am looking forward to the 3D tiles add-on for Terraforming Mars, which I believe will truly enhance gameplay as they look gorgeous.

@BirdieMoonEDU3 жыл бұрын
@@BeforeYouPlay Hi! In Caretos you’re playing as two Portuguese monsters hunting villagers around the game board. Each monster has its own unique action set. There are also two other monsters that are on the game board trying to thwart the player’s plans.
@BeforeYouPlay3 жыл бұрын
@@BirdieMoonEDU Oh wow that sounds really cool! I assume that the monsters from Portuguese mythology since MEBO is a Portuguese publishing company. Love the prospective of being the monster and not the villagers trying to run and hide lol.

It's not a boardgame top 10 if people don't sneak in 2 games before they start. haha Sounds like N is picking a lot of co-op games to have a fighting chance. BTW, if you put stickers on cards you should also add sleeves, keeps them safe.
