I agree, I'm actually in my second year of my early childhood education degree in canada and I'm fortunate to be in one of the provinces that pays their teachers the most (alberta), starting salary for a teacher with 4 years of education is $59,054 cad and this goes up each year for 10 years and the end salary is $93,912 cad, however if i decide to do an after degree that is 1-2 years my salary would go up to $62,514 at the start and reach $97,372 for 5 years of education and then for 6 years it would start at $66,475 and reach $101,331

If your planning to become a highschool/middle school teacher there is still some hope! Some US States pay a considerable amount with every year you gain experience and if you get a Master's at some later point (in the subject your teaching) it's even better. Another option is international teaching which also pays quite well considering often your housing is handled by your employer. However, if you work aboard for an extended period of time, your teaching experience won't be considered back at home when you return unless you work at an international (IB/IGCSE) private school (which is also a viable option depending on which country).
@lebra834 жыл бұрын
@@thjolemsodopplbbcch Yes, in some states teachers are paid well, but this is because of the high cost of living. For example, in NYC rent could be upwards of 1.5k a month.

I think that the Teachers used to use that as a threat when we were on school. "If you don't study, you'll wind up as a garbage man!" I think a lot of the kids thought they would become rock stars, or movie stars, or professional athletes. Not many kids thought they would become accountants, or corporate lawyers or something. In reality, it seems like being a sanitation worker is a great job! It usually pays around $50,000 a year, it's meaningful, and there is low/ no stress. You clock in and clock out. Hey, man! A video topic that may interest you is the investment to payoff (financial and happiness) of comparing Physical Therapy / Occupational Therapy with their Assistants (PTA/OTA)! Two years of school instead of getting a masters or doctorate, about 2/3 the pay with little to no school debt, and in the field itself you spend more time with the patient than the PT/OT as they do all of the paperwork and assessments and you do treatment. They’re the best jobs in the medical field for those who want to dip their toes and not have to get a doctorate to see if medical field work is for them. PT(A) is more motion oriented, stretching, exercises, range of motion, etc. OT(A) is more daily task oriented, teaching someone to use a spoon again or walk or get out of their chair, shower, drive, etc. Very similar and yet vastly diverse. OTAs have a little more leeway than PTAs but there are more PTA jobs out there. Pay is great for both for a 2 year degree and job growth is 35% or something if I remember correctly. Worthy topic perhaps! They’re some of the best jobs out there in my humble opinion!

Just wanted to put there in here. My father pushed me into pre-med. Asian immigrant parents, he was a doctor back in his own country. Was very strict on which universities I could apply to and which classes I could take. I did not do too well in my pre-med classes (chemistry, biology, physics). I did much better in social science classes (international relations, political science, ect). That being said, I had a horrible undergrad GPA, I would take social science classes to help my GPA and finished with a political science degree, bachelor of arts, not because I wanted to but because I was in my 5th year and had to graduate with something, never ended up really "using" the degree. I say all that because if you want to go into healthcare or medicine just for the money, it might not be the best ideal. This list has great careers in healthcare and there's many others that can pay you very well after you finish all of your education, but please don't do it just for the money, especially for the ones that require grad school, it's a lot of schooling and time and studying. So I hope you have some sort of passion or interest in healthcare and not just looking at a paycheck. I found my passion in tech consulting. Had to teach myself to code and all that and became a project manager at Microsoft after working at a few tech startups following graduation, I now work for pricewaterhousecoopers (pwc) as a technology consultant and really love it!

I'm almost finished nursing school (undergrad) now, and I am so happy this made the list. Not only can you be a "regular" RN, but you can eventually be a nurse manager, nurse practitioner, or even an educator at a nursing college. There's a ton of different specialties you can work in, as well, so getting that baseline BSN and getting RN experience can open so many doors to those other career paths in the profession, because you aren't stuck doing one type of work forever; there's a lot of freedom with career choice as a nurse.

I knew teachers that after 10+ years they made $50k and others that after 20+years they made $50k-$70k, the oldest ones in my school 30+ even made close to $80k. So if teaching is your passion do not listen to anybody, if you are persistent and are good at it or are teaching a very important subject you can make a really good living from it. Consider other factors like grade level and cost of living in your state. That information comes from teachers in the State of New Mexico.

I'm surprised speech therapy isn't on this list, but great video! Thank you for these.

For future reference if you talk about ikigai again, it should be said ee-kee-gah-ee or ee-kee- guy, you got about 1/2 way there. Nice to see a different approach but I find your channel very helpful and wish it was around when I was told I need to go to college years ago!

OT and PT is a 4-6 year degree. OTA or PTA would be 2 years. Great content though.

I was pretty confused about PT. Now I know there's PT which is about 6 years and there is PTA which is about 4 years

I broke my wrist and see OTs. They don't always see you all the way through as care is rationed. I'm only allowed 60 visits max. You have to get other treatments like massage therapy & accupuncture to make a complete recovery. I really enjoy your videos, you're a smart guy, keep up the great work!

Ogunleye Ayomikun really? It’s pretty cool just knowing about it. There is a hospital in New York that treats patients using music therapy techniques.

what about nutritionists and dietitians? i think it's a good major where a person can help people lose/gain weight and change their life physically and psychologically, they also help ill people with diseases to heal and to reduce their health issue. i think nutrition is a great way to help people and impact the society as a whole to build a healthier life. people should look more into it as it's growing more each year where people are recognizing the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

So, I just graduated with an Early Childhood Education AS Degree/ Child Development, since I have close to 20 years in the field, but I would like to go for a BS in Social Work because I enjoy working with children and families. I know the pay is not so high, but like you mentioned in the beginning of your video, it's not all about $, but also job satisfaction and passion. Hope all goes well for me! I'm a devout Christian and have faith that it will! 🙏

Really great list. I just find that the list is missing a huge component, especially that most of the degrees are healthcare roles: most of these degrees are expensive, need a graduate degree (PT, MD and require licensure that may take a few years, so return on investment might be stretched. I'm looking into clinical psychology and therapy (marriage and family therapy/counseling), which I find super meaningful, but the time it takes to become licensed can add up to 3+ years post-grad school. Would love your thoughts on that!

I am a special education teacher and mother to a small child. I find my job(s) incredibly meaningful but to get to that 75k salary point we are going to need many more hours added to the day and years to my work life :(
