They're more of a intergalactic army then a secular team like the Avengers or the JLA, which are comprised of a few individuals whereas the Corp is comprised of about 5000 members

Original members of the Defenders all joined the Avengers on TV show the Super hero Squad. Also in the Defenders and in The Avengers also were Valkyrie, Nighthawk, Hawkeye and Yellow Jacket. The current roster of the Defenders is less powerful and consist of Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil and Jennifer Jones.

There is something about DC. I used to love marvel more, it had relatable stories but to be honest Superheroes are not relatable and have Insane stories. I like DC more because instead of being relatable, you look up to them. They give you hope and inspire you to be good. Although it depends. Its not for everyone. DC is far crazier than marvel at times so its your choice.

There are a few teams that I think would at least be contenders for the list.. .The Invaders: WWII team featuring Captian America, Bucky, The original Human Torch, his sidekick Toro, and Namor as the main core of the team. With other members coming and going the team had a roster of powers that would put them on par with later teams such as the Defenders (see below) The Justice Society of America...an alternate dimensional counterpart to the JLA they had a number of similar core members to the including their Earth's version of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Green Lantern, along with others. With the addition of characters like Dr. Fate and the Specter this team had sufficient power to take on anyone in their day. The Guardians of the Galaxy. Not the current team from the movie but the team form the future that appeared in the 70's consisting of Vance Astro, Charlie-27, Yondu, Martinax, Starhaxk/Aleta and Nikki. These characters have been known to hold their own agains both the Fantastic Four and the Avengers on separate occasions. The Defenders. The core of this team was Doctor Strange, Namor, Hulk, and the Silver Surfer, four of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel Universe. Add to them recurring members such as Valkyrie, Hellcat, Moondragon, NightHawk and Son of Satan and you have a team ready to face anyone you can throw at them. Teen Titans. This team was originally comprised of the sidekicks of several heroes, with the core of the original team being Kid Flash, Robin, Wonder Girl and Speedy. Aqualad would be a recurring member of the team and they had a umber of other members over time in all of their original incarnations. Adding in characters like Cyborg, Raven, Starfire and Changeling in the 80's reformation of the team and they could have easily been as powerful as other teams on the list and the 80's version even fought the Justice league to a standstill at one point. Any of these teams would have been as qualified for the list as the ones that were on it.

yeah, but mutants have a similar enough basis for technological power blocking to be an option. and while the FF, spiderman, and the like may be a lot like mutants, Thor is a god, iron man has an advanced technological setup, pym uses advanced physics, superman is an alien, the flash draws on the power of a cosmic force. bring in the others and we are talking magic artifacts, alien superdevices, and all manner of extranormal stuff.

+mephosto Mutants are just as diverse as the heros in Avengers. Its just that mutants are born with their powers (although usually not activating them till they're beginning puberty), and don't get them from serums or suits or being an alien race.

in ability yes but not source. it all comes from the x gene, and as such all are vulnerable to similar things like the legacy virus that outside of one case was only mutants or the sentinels that could detect mutants specifically. also most of the xmen had a common background of recruited as teenager, were as the avengers and the justice league had a much vaster skill set and individual experience level.

They are no avengers but if you dig a little into their back story's you will see there is a bit more to them than meets the eye. Like how Starlord isn't completely human or how Groot is actually very intelligent, when his race of people talk it only sounds like, 'I am Groot" when really there are subtle differences in each line.

For me: 1. Legion of Superheroes. 2. The Defenders, but only as long as Silver Surfer is among them. 3. JLA. Especially when you consider that multiple Lantern Corps would be involved with mutual aid. 4. The Avengers. The comic version because several mutants were also part of their team. 5. The Inhumans. 6. The X-men. And this isn't even considering groups like the Nova Corps, the Celestials, or the Sinestro Corps. Great topic for debate.

Aquaman has super strength, super speed, tough(although not to the extent of Superman), telepathy with sea animals and possibly with others also and can breath underwater. Weakness is weaker and slower, etc. the longer he is out of water.
