Maybe, I'm being too analytical about this, but I believe Bella was manipulated by a lot of men in her life. Jacob couldn't take "No" for an answer. When she didn't respond to his personal efforts, he enlisted his friends & family to try to change her mind. Yes, I believe inviting her to the council meeting in "Eclipse" had an ulterior motive. Her father tried to blackmail her into leaving Edward, so he could have his fairytale (my daughter marries my best friend's son, there's doves & rainbows at the reception, & we all live happily ever after). He seemed to forget that she was 18 &, technically, didn't have to listen to him anymore. And of course, there's Edward, but to list all his issues would take too long. Any way one slices it, certain men tried to force Bella to behave in a certain way, & complications arose when she didn't follow their wishes. As much as I loved the story (I own the "Breaking Dawn" book & all 5 movies), I had a huge problem, over how Bella rarely stood up for herself with the central male figures. Whenever she tried, it came out as weak/half-hearted. Thank goodness, she learned more self-confidence, when she became a mom & a vampire.

They were not raised together, they are not related, nothing. Actually, the thing that disturbs me just a little is the four year age difference, because normally that wouldn't matter but when the girl is barely sixteen and the guy is twenty something, that's a little uncomfortable. There's a big maturity level difference there.

Josh challenges Cher to be more than what she shows, because he knows there is more to her, and Cher helps bring the joy out in Josh. The ridiculous thing about Bella and Edward too (in both the books and the movies) is that they have absolutely ZERO common interests or activities they enjoy doing together, nothing to make them genuinely bond as a couple. They literally do nothing together except be together and talk about how obsessed they are with one another. You never see them going out and having fun together as a couple, enjoying a favorite movie for the 100th time as couples do, a fun day out in Seattle, laser tag, visiting a zoo, surfing, making a goddamn piece of pottery together, ANYTHING.

And yes, he is noble and kind and she falls for him because she sees those qualities (like him dancing with her friend to make her feel less embarrassed or him dropping everything to come to her rescue). And he loves her not for her beauty but for her character (her helping and caring for their dad or her misguided attempts at helping her friend).

I think maybe Anakin and Padme were SUPPOSED to lack chemistry. A guy who spent the first ten years of his life as a slave, and the next ten years in an organisation where any sort of attachment is forbidden. Ashley Joe honestly the 3 main cahracterrs had some serious issues, Bella was too selfish and codependent. Edward was just plain creepy and not suitable with a human ALSO HAD NO EMOTIONS, Jacob was childish and cocky way too self absorbed to love another. NONE OF THEM WOULDA WORKED.

Seriously, Neo and Trinity (Matrix) and Harry and Ginny (Harry Potter) belong on this list as well. These two as-called couples were only painful to watch. Say what you will about Bella and Edward, but at least they talk about about their relationship, its consequences and where it may take them (nor was it love at first sight, which at least made me find their relationship a bit interesting). Neither Trinity/Neo or Harry/Ginny ever do that. And not to mention the fact that we barely get to know anything about Harry and Ginny's relationship - not even in the sixth book! Nor do we ever see them develop together. So, seriouly, what kind of a "love story" is that? Also, Ginny only worships Harry like her hero instead of liking him for who he really is and Harry is merely obsessing over Ginny. In short: Harry and Ginny make Edward and Bella look good. And as for Neo and Trinity: zero chemistry. Enough said.

+MadamPluto every time a romantic moment between Harry and Ginny occurs, I literally can't help laughing. It's just so awkward and misplaced. The funniest time is definitely when Ginny ties up Harry's shoelaces at the Burrow and they make her hunch to be the same height as Dan Radcliffe. That whole subplot cracks me up every time i watch the series.

Jaycie Victory Actually, I didn't like book-Ginny that much either after book six because of her lack of character development and the fact that she didn't seem to grow up. When I read the OotP, I was really pleased when Hermione said that Ginny no longer was obsessing over Harry and had moved on with her own life - and that's what I really had want to see Ginny do after I had read the second book, because I prefered Harry and Ginny as FRIENDS after the forth book, and not a couple. Instead, I wanted Harry to end up either Fleur, Tonks or (when I read the Deathly Hallows) with Hermione, because, in my opinion, these three combinations felt much more realistic and interesting, also Harry ending up with Ginny = "the hero marrying the damsel in distress he once saved"-cliché. And, yes, Ginny was a damsel in distress in CoS.

If Benjamin and Elaine had broken up in "The Graduate" we would have missed one of the most classic film endings ever. The main characters in "Knocked Up" did end their romantic relationship and were apparently friends afterward since they were shown with their child. Bella and Edward really never made sense since he was cold and she hated to be cold, not to mention that he was like granite. She should have preferred Jacob, but she was kind of a head case-right? She made a pretty cool vampire, though. If Anikin and Padme had not been a couple there would have been no Luke and Leia.

I agree with The Tourist. It killed the movie for me. Disagree about Josh & Cher. Ignoring where the inspiration came from for the movie, Josh opened Cher's eyes up & made her a better person and she taught him to be comfortable with himself and to relax. Plus they had good chemistry. Bad couples: *Jennifer Lopez & Ralph Fiennes in Maid in Manhattan (no chemistry) *Christian Bale & ladies in the Batman movies (Who was the casting director? I felt like all his love interests had zero chemistry with him. And I know he's a good actor, I've seen him in films where he's in love and pulled it off well...) *Sandra Bullock & Ryan Reynolds in The Proposal. (I love them individually but I just couldn't buy the whole suddenly-they're-in-love thing. It was painful to watch) *Will & Elizabeth in the Pirate's franchise (Liked them in the first movie, 2nd movie was so-so then by the third one I really wanted Will to ditch her. I found her so annoying...) AND *Mulder & Scully from X-files franchise.. (I love them separately & love the series... but since the show made them a couple I felt like the stories and their chemistry went away. I think the writers/producers didn't know what to do with them).
