Sleepers is a fantastic movie. Have it on DVD. At one point it was fairly easy to get hold of, But don't see it that many places anymore. So definitely not getting rid of my copy. Can't understand if it's a rarely seen or overlooked movie, because it is an absolute masterpiece. It's clearly not a feel good movie, but neither is Sophie's choice, Deer Hunter or Schindler's List, so I think everyone should see it anyway, because in my opinion the movie is on par with them.
@AVAPopCulture2 ай бұрын
I agree...it is one that is hard to find and while not a cheerful movie at all, it is filled with stellar performances!
@Allan-Thubten-Sherab2 ай бұрын
@@AVAPopCultureIt's kind of funny, never thought it would be a rare movie that was hard to get hold of. Originally had it in a Scandinavian version with Danish subtitles (not that I need it), But it was easily accessible then, so i then sold it, thinking that I can always buy it again if I regret it. Of course I did regret it because it's a great movie. When I then wanted to buy it again, it was only possible to find it in a UK version. Now when I check in stores or online, no one has it. You cannot guess which films will one day become rare or difficult to obtain . Could understand if it was an obscure low budget b movie. But had never guessed it about a good film like sleepers with a decent budget and actors like Robert De Niro, Kevin Bacon and the others. All give oscar worthy acting performances. But certainly happy to have bought the film again before it became impossible to get hold of 😉👍.

I’ve only seen about half of these. My 2 cents: “Burnt Offerings” - a haunted house movie with Karen Black, Burgess Meredith, and Bette Davis; “6 Souls” with Julianne Moore; “Haunted Honeymoon” with Gene Wilder, Gilda Radner, and Dom Deloise

Oh, man!... So many thoughts! Ok, thanks for the Kevin Durand film, never heard of it but it sounds cool, I'll have to look for it. Also, thanks for the reminder on The Order; I never saw it but planned to go back at some point . I just looked it up and saw the director is Brian Helgeland, who also did A Knights Tale and a lot of my other favourites...probably why Ledger, Addy and Sossaman were cast again. Odd Thomas was great, as I recall, I need to revisit that...Anton Yelchin was a terrible loss. Sleepers is Amazing, if anything on this list needs a 4k, it's this! That movie is so good...in the early 2000's, I worked baggage at the airport and on downtime we watched movies between flights. I brought my copy of Sleepers in and I remember people saying they couldbt believe they'd never heard of it. That tape must've been rewound and replayed for at least a week straight because everyone kept trying to finish watching it after being interupted by work everytime a plane arrived.🤣🤣🤣🤣

That Kevin Durand film is really good! You'll enjoy it! The Order is one that kinda faded in the background for a lot of people....Sleepers has so many amazing performances and it kinda gets forgotten about! - it is a hard one to get interrupted and pulled away from lol

Odd Thomas and Pleasantville are awesome. I got Sleepers on DVD for Christmas and have watched it a few times, also very good. I once tried to rent the order from Blockbuster but it was the Jean-Claude Van Damme movie with the same name from 2001.

Thanks for the video. Sentinel is an awesome film. I need to get Ghost Town and Dark night. The others not so much. Here are two for you, 1971's Blood Thirst, mostly a slow-moving detective story with some magic and a goddess that drinks blood and a monster. 2.1961 Bloodlust. Robert Reed is the hero (Mr. Brady) kids go to an island and are hunted by the owner like animals (gee that's never been done before) Question: In the early days of DVD is it true that old films were just put on disc without any work done to the prints, seems like a lot look like vhs rips or worse. There must have been no QC some compilations were so dark and pixelated that they were unwatchable. Thus the hate currently for DVDs.Great Job.
@AVAPopCulture2 ай бұрын
hey thank you! I am not sure on the early DVDs but if they were just ripped from VHS it seems like there would be a lot of obvious "ghosting" in the image and other issues that would have been very obvious...I have a few DVDs from the VHS preservation society that I was given years ago at a movie convention I was guest at and they are VERY obvious that they were ripped from VHS but honestly I dont know for sure!

PCU is a movie not many people seen. it almost like Animal House. sadly it a hard to find movie and not been on blu ray yet. Loverboy is a fun movie. sadly it only on DVD. never been on blu ray. pretty much a bargan bin title Johnny Hamson starring Mickey Rourke. it worth checking out. he place a deformed criminal who got set up and brother was killed. he was offered a chance of a new life with a new reconstructed face. it an underrated movie. sadly I don't think it evern been on dvd and blu ray. Pleasantville is an interesting movie. it also I believe it was the last film Don Knotts been in before he passed away it an interesting and created idea for a movie.
