There was a woman in our neighborhood that let her yard become unkempt. People started harassing her. Come to find out her husband who had been taking care of the yard originally came down with cancer and she became his caretaker. She wasn't able to balance everything and keep the yard pristine, too. Sometimes you never know what people are going through. Leave others alone unless you're willing to be a good neighbor yourself and offer a helping hand. These people harassing their neighbors ARE the bad neighbor.

Everyone please remember this. Interfering with another persons ability to leave an area is Criminal Detainment. I would certainly press charges on the lady blocking my ability to leave the area to go to work. I see a lot of these videos and it has to end. No one has ability to control your movements, but since you can’t physically remove them, and they will sue you, you are detained. When I was growing up this was never a thing because people knew they would get knocked out. Now they just laugh at you. We really have to stop this out of control behavior.

I was a new member at a private golf club (I am of Latin Decent). I was taking a shower in the women’s locker room after playing 18 holes in 98 degree weather. A woman suspected that I did not belong there. She introduced herself to me, but I did not respond. My silence drove her crazy! A few days later, I found out she went to the main office and described me to the officers of the golf course. To her embarrassment, she was told that… YES I WAS A MEMBER AND A 22 year Army Veteran. A few weeks later I saw her again… and I acted like she did not exist!!

That depends on who is on the HOA or condo association and what’s in the covenants. You have to read everything closely and decide if that’s what you want or not. I live in a condo because I don’t want to do yard work or outside maintenance and that comes with a condo association, so I pay attention to what is and isn’t allowed and respect that because I chose to live here. The one family that moved in here and didn’t want to respect the rules and stop throwing their trash everywhere, blocking other people’s driveways, etc. eventually moved out.

My parents are living on an over-55 residential area like the one on here but in the uk. Most of the people are pensioners and my dad ran the board for a bit but became frustrated and stopped his involvement with it because it was just people whinging about things that were irrelevant and just bitchy and it got really cliquey. I don't take after my dad. He's really kind and courteous, whereas I call a spade a spade, which is why I'd never join one of those kinda things. It's just people sitting around, sticking their noses into others business.

That is how people get killed.. not being able to just mind their own damn business.. and leave other people alone! There is an old saying.. "Good Fences make Good Neighbors" and it is absolutely 100% so very true. Historically people have been feuding with their neighbors for hundreds of years and killing each other over things like property lines, land disputes, trespassing, jealousy, disrespect, and even over parking. It's great when you have good decent neighbors.. but most people actually suck and you are better off ignoring people than trying to be social and friendly with them.. as by doing so you now open the door.. and allow them to even have that first contact with you.. which in return will make them feel very comfortable knocking on your door at anytime over any little thing. As a black man I live in a neighborhood where my family is currently the oldest family on our street.. and people got along way better back in the 60's and 70's than they do now. The world slowly changed.. you used to be able to leave your doors and windows unlocked.. if kids got lost they were helped and didnt end up on milk cartons.. there was no such thing as "Karens" as we know them today.. and people minded their own business, worked hard for what they had, and got along just fine.. and even though there was still racism.. it was sometimes well hidden and not so openly blatant like it is today. Today my neighborhood is filled with crime.. and all kinds of immigrants have moved in.. along with racist Karens and racist white men.. and I strongly dislike almost everyone in my neighborhood with exception to 2 other families who have lived there for almost as long as mine has as we are still very good neighbors to this day. I do not talk to, greet or say hello, wave to, or even smile with around 98% of the people in my neighborhood.. they do not know me and I am seen as the anti-social big scary "angry black guy" in the neighborhood and I prefer it that way.. even though I am actually a cool friendly out going and respectful person.. I like the fact that people tend to just stay away and leave me alone.. I like that.. as I really do not want to have to go to prison. Security cameras.. and big ass high fences.. make for good neighbors - when they cant see what you're doing.. they have no urge or need to ever come f_ck with you.

My first interaction with a neighbour was to tell me to cut my grass. Not hello, not my name is...but just "your grass needs cutting". Calm down. I just moved in and the grass wasn't long, it just wasn't cut as short as he wanted it. So how do you think that helped our neighbour relationship? IMO you shouldn’t throw trash in other neighborhoods’ bins, but harassment isn’t the way to handle it either. Back when I lived in an apartment complex, if we’d had an issue with the dumpsters getting filled with stuff coming from outside the complex to where residents couldn’t use it, I would have complained to the apartment management office and ask them to put up a sign making it clear the dumpster is for residents only and/or if the whole complex is private property, asking for better signage to make that clear. That way in the future if someone thought they could use our dumpster it would clearly be marked “for residents only.” No harassment of people needed.

That's a very old clip, and the context is crazy - the girl filming was a minor, and the crazy flipping about wifi was the wife of her brother who lived in their basement apartment. The mother of the young girl and the husband of the Karen was evicting the couple, and had changed the wifi password and wasn't home. The minor (I think 14?) Was there by herself! She was saying that to a literal child over a wifi password she had nothing to do with!

Over 20 years ago I heard a story about crazy neighbors on NPR. I think it was "This American Life". The woman who submitted the story cited a survey where 40% of respondents said they had experienced neighbors who were so crazy the police had become involved, often called by the crazy neighbor. But the same people who said they had experienced with a crazy neighbor thought only 10% of people had crazy neighbors. If the same survey was run again, I'd expect an even higher percentage would report having dealt with crazy neighbors. Social media has only helped expose these lunatics.

Unfortunately most of the Karens are narcissists with some other extras thrown in (a lot are racist, but there are other reasons Karens are Karens). There's not a ton that can be done about Narcissistic Personality Disorder. They think they are perfect and everyone else is just in their way. They literally think they're right "because I (the narcissist) said so". There is also no arguing with them because there's no reasoning with them. So, yeah, getting out of the situation is the best plan, but in that first video, for example, she blocked him in. He wasn't raising his voice, which was good. There obviously was no communication from the white lady. She clearly made up her mind he didn't belong there. He had no other choice but to call the police.

So, context about that second video. It's an older video, taken just after George Floyd was killed. I think that lady really was scared and frustrated, and I think the white lady stated her case as well. I think a HUGE part of the problem was there was a lack of communication. But context is huge. It was during a time that was extra tense.
