I grew up around farming and wanted to be doing it. I’m buying my first farm at age 53... having survived cancer I am concerned with ways to make life easier. I’m in the market for my first tractor! I appreciate the information I get from your channel! Thank you!!!

HEY! No need to get personal! I've added a left side step, Mudd handle and mirror/bracket (also left side). And a cushier seat cover. Just ordered one of your SpeeCo quick 3-point hitch devices (that will save much energy and reduce the nautical language necessary to change implements . . . I hope). And a 2" receiver, chain hooks and bails on the bucket. What would have made life easier would have been to be smarter when I was young. But, alas, I have to work with what I have that still works. I departed from my beloved '56 Ford 640 (which I loved . . . but yet she clamed a fingertip on my right hand that a very nice doctor put back on). I also added a magnetic 12v utility light. Normally rides on the brush-guards around the ROPS lights, but I can move it anywhere I need it (like field dressing a bow-killed deer well after dark). My wife, THE ADMIRAL, actually insisted I get the JD1025R after conspiring with the local dealer. I didn't argue at all.

I kind of think the Ventrac would suit someone with mobility problems. Once you are in the seat the machine can be operated with your right hand. They are expensive for what they are though.
@jimmcknight30213 жыл бұрын
@@kdegraa I would just add that with Ventrac and Steiner I would definitely go with the better seat option since people that have mobility issues also have back issues as well. I've heard a lot of good things about the upgraded seats on them. I know that the other tractor manufacturers like John Deere also have upgraded seats and I think they're worth the money.

For anybody thinking about wheel spacers they really do work. I have a Kubota B2601 with Rim Guard in the rear tiers and 3" spacers. I can mow on 35 degree banks with very little pucker factor, absolutely none on 30 degree slopes. If the ground is wet my R14 tires turn the ground on 35 degree areas. I have 1.5" spacers on a BX2380 and they also make quiet a difference.

If you want to be really quick, although probably for the compact, & up, rather than sub compact, but look into loader quick hitch from 'OilQuik', its a quick coupler that couples the hyd & any electrics at the same time as connecting the implement or attachment to loader arms, from the tractor seat. For the rear 3pl, look at both 'Gangle' & 'Siwi' , couples 3pl, pto & hyd couplers, from the tractor seat. Some of the 'Siwi' models can also q/c the drawbar too. Worth the money if you're changing attachments a lot

I would like to see your thoughts on the Lock-N-Lube grease fitting couplers .I've been using them for a few years now since a friend told me about them. Makes is so mu easier to lube my machines.
@scottritchey749223 күн бұрын
I never used a quick-hitch but it looks like it would interfere with connecting the PTO. Opinions? Experiences? My Kioti (DK45s) has telescoping lower arms (plus lower arm control on the back) so I only need to park close to connect lower arms; but I do need to climb down from the seat. I find it easier to connect the PTO before the top link (better access) but the quick-hitch does looks convenient if a PTO isn't used. I agree that a step is great, if not essential in my case.
@Noah_E2 жыл бұрын
Another useful thing is an off the shelf 2" step bumper receiver with a set of grade 8 bolts and wing nuts so you don't need tools. Most have at least two sets of slotted holes that will match up to the pre-drilled holes in the bucket. It only takes a minute to install/remove and makes moving trailers a breeze or you can use a receiver tow hook and have a solid mounting point that won't damage the bucket like looping a chain around/over it can.

Just watched your video and saw that you’d asked for comments on custom equipment ideas. I’ve been looking for a quick attach 3 point mount attachment for my front end loader. I’ve seen other companies make combo version with a pallet fork base, but they’re too expensive because I have to buy a second pallet fork attachment which I don’t need. I would like to have a front mount 3 point mostly to assist in loading my flat bed without having to back m tractor on and off for multiple rear attachments. Secondary, I would like to use a lightweight 3 point landscape rake/pine needle rake to get into areas where I can’t back into easily, if at all.

I've been using my 1025-R for pulling up roots using one form, or another, of brush grubbers. Sometimes there's not enough traction when the root spreads in different directions. My cordless reciprocating saw with a pruning blade or rough wood blade is good at separating them into manageable sized pieces. It's a bit slower than the chain saw, but I wouldn't want to put the chain saw in the dirt. My reciprocating saw fits nicely alongside the seat on the right side. Once in a while, it hits the lock for the FEL stick, but it hasn't been a serious problem.

Hmmm, my JD dealer and his mechanic both said I could step on the mowing deck to get on and off it wouldn’t hurt a thing. But I’ve had incredible difficulty with getting the deck attached. I don’t have a flat area in any part of the yard and the rather long driveway is sloped with a crown. I do have a question on the quick attach which my dealer didn’t want to sell to me…if I keep it on all the time, does it interfere with mowing? I’m short and cannot see the three points to adequately back the dang thing up and hook up my implements. Currently I use a 2x4 notched out to keep the arms spread to get it connected, then I either use a cheater pipe or the 2x4 to move the implement. Another question, on the gizmo that bolts on to the ROPs, can it hold the toolbox that comes with the JD1025R? It’s part of the problem of not being able to see the arms when I attach, or will the Spee Co fix the issue? Once again you’re successful in adding to my wish list! I need to either stop watching all the eye candy or save more of my allowance ROFLOL…

Myself instead of using wheel spacers, I use spinout rims. Also you might want to add that the American Society of Agricultural Engineers and International Organization for Standardization did not agree on the Categories of the 3-point hitch system until 1994. So when using a quick hitch some implements will not connect. I did not know this until I was given a quick hitch for my Ford 861 Powermaster my Bushog from the mid 1980's will not hook and neither will my Ford blade from the mid 1970's or my 1950's disc. But my neighbors disc from around 2015 hooks just fine. Myself I still prefer the Snap Coupler system for a hitch so much easier
