Idk anything about boxing prior to like the 70s and I don't really know what I'm talking about until the 90s (I'm 33 so basically when I was alive is what I know), so I really enjoy these because they teach me a TON about the history of the sport. Thank you, Rummy. You're the man.

Very nice list, although I would have Sam Langford a lot higher. He beat Joe Gans for a non-title fight, he was robbed against Joe Walcott, and he beat Stanley Ketchel for a non-title fight (however that was in 1910). Not to mention the fights he had with Joe Jeannette.

You obviously know what you are talking about, and Sam Langford is truly the G O A.T. and T.B.E. He is, however, almost completely overlooked, as your comments show. To add on to what you said, he also gave Sam McVey at least one ass-whooping and also took on the huge Black Panther Harry Wills. Jack Johnson beat Sam when Langford was just starting out, and since didn't want anything to do with him. Same goes for Jack Dempsey, who openly admitted that there was only one man that he feared and that would have flattened him, and that was the "Boston Bonecrusher". He, like the great Harry Greb, fought a good part of their careers blind in one eye, with good old Sam actually being led to the ring by his entourage; he was that blind in the twilight of a stellar but overlooked 25-year career. Props to you for your boxing knowledge. Nuff said. ✌️

Sam Langford fought Harry Wills a record 22 times, having 6 wins, 2 losses (both by knockout) and 14 no-decisions. Harry held the Black Heavyweight title 3 times, and Sam Langford twice.

Surprised Jefferies was ratted so low, aside from his forced come back against Johnson he has a perfect record. Was more shocked with Langford being so low, I rate him for above Johnson who gets far to much credit. Especially since Johnson some how pulled the color line to duck Langford. Glad to see Gans get his due credit.

If I had a time machine, first thing I'd try to do is film all of the Ezzard Charles vs Archie Moore bouts, and then go back a bit further and try and get some of the Gene Tunney vs Harry Greb fights, so yeah - I'm in total agreement. To be able to see what boxing looked like 100+ years ago (not including the usually limited mediocre film we have from that era} would simply be incredible.

I think Sugar Ray Robinson should easily come out at #1 for the 1940s. He had a record of 101-1 in the 1940s. I can't think anyone else who comes close.

This is among the hardest decades of great fighters and the fact that you have Gans Langford and Ketchel in this era proves it is hard because of very little film and many questionable judging like newspaper scoring from perhaps biased journalists .

Wonderful! Still to address the darker side of Boxing as we are witness to similarities today whether those of you wish to admit it or not. Black fighters were discriminated against no matter the culture, ethnicity, language, or nationality. Long as they had brown skin and certain features- they were widely discriminated against. Threatened and assaulted even. Right here in the USA. This cannot be said for those belonging to a mexican, Italian, European-Jew, or filipino identity. Soon as the racial barrier which was overwhelmingly an *Anti-Black* barrier, largely fell down, we bore witness to amazing feats of Boxing. How does it relate today? Well even in the past 10yrs we've witnessed it. There's no way so many people defended canelo refusing to fight Andrade at 154, when Andrade was a champion and was calling him out. Then so many people defended canelo when he himself stated he wanted to become undisputed at 160, and only needed to beat a mandatory (Jermall Charlo) and the Andrade who held the final belt to collect. There's no way that people have defended golovkin who refused to fight both Andrade and Jermall Charlo for 6yrs straight despite both of them relentlessly calling him out. Well there is one way: discrimination. The same people defending those actions would then scream "why don't [they] fight each other?" *We* always knew they meant "why don't the two dangerous Black guys take each other out?" The media and ranking system never put them at the top that's why, they were gunning for the ones placed at the top, and were much more proven than the competition those two chose to face instead. Hell Andrade even signed with Dazn and was on the same network & in the same division as those two for years and they refused to fight him. Racism aka the anti-Black barrier isn't a thing of the past. It's still alive in the present. Andrade and Jermall aren't the only examples. Devin chased Loma for years, even becoming his mandatory. The same people defended loma refusing to fight him, claiming "Devin hasn't done anything" & "Devin doesn't deserve it." Yet mocking Devin at the same time. YET, those same people praise loma for fighting Ortiz who hadn't achieved a sliver of what Devin had achieved. And commey who honest fans know is a walking punching bag who will never make the hall of fame. The goal is to see the best fight the best. Only discrimination would make someone disagree with the necessary matchups. When Teo had the belts the same people were saying Devin didn't deserve the fight. When george had the belts the same people were saying "george is already undisputed Devin has an email belt he doesn't deserve the fight." Now years later they are making excuses for why Loma will lose to discredit Devin. The fight could've happened years ago had Loma not ducked. During those years of them discrediting Devin guess who they said he should fight instead? "Devin and Tank should each other, why won't they get in the ring if they are so good?" Which once again simply meant: "the two dangerous Black guys need to take each other out." They wanted the guys that media and rankings put at the top, that's why. They were clearly superior competition to the people Loma and Teo had chosen to fight instead. I could do this across several divisions. *Racism aka the Anti-Black barrier isn't a thing of the past and it is egregious to pretend otherwise.* I'm a fan of Boxing, I love Boxing. Doesn't mean I don't have eyes, common sense, and can't see what's clearly been happening. They'll make a million excuses why they hate Floyd and don't count his wins, yet praise canelo who indeed tested positive for PEDs. Thanks to the testing that Floyd fought hard to implement. Hell the same people spreading false rumors about Floyd being on steroids are the same ones saying he's pillow fisted. They are also the same ones calling him a coward and blaming him for the manny fight not happening sooner, DESPITE knowing that manny refused to agree to steroid testing and that being what held up the fight. Freddy Roach is ON CAMERA, stating that the fight not happening was their fault because manny didn't want to be tested. Floyd is American, yet right here in our own country they slandered him despite knowing all this and rooted for a foreigner. This is thee historical Boxing channel. It's work will last for as long as the internet is available, and many future generations to learn from. I must leave this comment here so that people of the future can learn what's going on here in modern time, and do their best to banish this ugliness from the sport in their future. The truth of the matter is all this discrimination is what's been killing the sport. An undisputed champion at 160 when all those names were there would've brought more attention to the sport. Oh and before anyone retorts "Floyd was never undisputed" in response to the canelo failing steroid testing piece of history. No Floyd wasn't but he should've been. Not enough Boxing channels have covered that, I don't even think Rummy has covered it but I could be wrong on that. It seems like something he would've a least brushed through in a video. Zab Judah was the undisputed welterweight champion before Carlos Baldomir upset him. Judah fought 2x in 2006 losing initially to Carlos and then to Floyd. Carlos fought 3x in 2006 beating Zab, then beating Arturo Gatti, before losing to Floyd. Floyd fought 2x in 2006, beating Zab and Carlos back to back. Floyd beat the to champions back to back. Behind the scenes shenanigans are the reason Floyd was accredited his well deserved undisputed status. Which would be another accolade amongst his very long list of premium accomplishments in the sport. So long Boxing fans, until next time.

I personally would not include Jack O'brien. Most of his fights were in fact no decision, had little punching power and was involved in some very questionable fights. He lost to other "greats" such as Langford and Ketchel. He was given a very generous draw against Tommy Burns. And as for his Light Heavyweight "KO" against Fitzimmons who happened pass out in his corner between rounds seems suspect to me. Also Ketchel over Langford? Please. In their short six round bound to promote a potential mega fight it was apparent in most accounts Langford had the far better of this fight and backed off to not make Ketchell look to bad .
