The Popeye movie is the reason why I don't want to see The Emoji Movie. I'm a big fan of Popeye, and I've been into Popeye ever since I was a kid. When my sister told me that the filmmakers for this movie were previously working on a Popeye movie, but then cancelled it to make The Emoji Movie instead, I was angry to hear about it, and I decided not to see it. Those filmmakers should have done that Popeye movie instead, and I was not happy when I was told that it did not seem like Sony would continue making it. Actually, the story is a tad more...involved than you think. See this one thing where this sloppy excuse of a movie was simply in a “wrong place wrong time” scenario, when gendy (I just know I misspelled that, sorry sir) showed the trailer he had reserved no criticism from it. This was a bad sign so he directly called the head and asked what was wrong, he was told that they loved his work, but hated Popeye. During all this, Sony was already shopping for new ideas, but they all but said to him”hotel Transylvania or gtfo”

There was a mini-series called ''The Mojicons'' that aired in Nickelodeon Greece a few months before this was annouched, so technically this is the Mockbuster. I remember very few things about it, but it is has the same style as Killer bean, and now that I start to remember it, the subject was actually pretty dark. It makes no sense that they didn't let Alexander Romanetz (the creator of the shorts) direct the Emoji Movie based on his miniseries, think about it: No one would remember a killer bean styled minsieries that aired in like 5 countries, he can easily easily copypaste the story and develop it into movie quality, which would way less than coming up with a new story even if the new story is completely atrocious, and even if it doesn't become a ''good movie bad concept'' type like the Lego Movie, at least make it way less bad than it is now.
