One thing I think RE7 and RE8 have dropped the ball on is doors. The first person view was a brilliant way to add physicality back the worlds but the doors are still practically non existent with the exception of a few standout ones. I don’t need much just a hand to push it open or being able to see the knob turn.

I think that the door with the knob almost falling apart on the first floor of the mansion in re1 is one of the most memorable, you have to calculate how many times you can go trough that door before you brake it, it's pretty cool.

Growing up playing Resident Evil it never actually occurred to me that the doors were loading screens. I just never associated it until it was pointed out to me. It’s such a great quirk, and gives the series an iconic look and feel. Also, I feel you on the noise the lab doors make. So weirdly satisfying.

The best part is that the RE2make even made a shout-out to the double zombie door by having two nearly identical zombies bust out of the door leading to the room where you get the club key in Leon's campaign. Also, can I say that I just _love_ the sound the RPD doors make? It's a shame they never reused it in any of the RPD's appearances beyond _Nemesis,_ because that sound is just total ear candy.

The original RPD front door is my favorite. From serving as the sign of the start of the adventure of Leon and Claire to Nemesis trying to break it down and failed. Its green paint and design make it so unique and iconic that its heartbreaking it was replaced by Gun Shop Door.

I like the gold Luger door! Entering the hidden part of the mansion in Code Veronica was pretty creepy. I would LOVE to see a remake of Code Veronica X...! 5:28, I don't think this is the 1st time that Capcom does that. In the original resident evil (not the remastered) where the stars team went into the mansion and I specifically remember that if you walk around the mansion long enough and decided for whatever reasons you open the mansion door you came into the mansion, a loading screen will appear, then suddenly, a zombie dog jumps Infront of the player scaring the living c*** out of me when I was a kid. Correct me if I'm wrong, it could be that the last time I've touched OG RE1 is wayyyyy back in the early 2000s

I'd like to give a brief honorable mention to the Chapel Door in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis ( the one that leads to the Save Room that Jill is in after she's infected with the T Virus and you take control of Carlos ). We all thought save rooms were safe. But Nemesis is here to prove us wrong. While running the vaccine back to Jill, Nemmy shows up to hassle you again. If you screw off too much and don't stop him fast, he breaks down the door to the save room and kills Jill, resulting in a INSTANT Game Over! The worst time for it to happen, too, right outside of a save room! This poor door is the only save room door in history to be penetrated by a monster. And how iconic of Nemesis to prove to us that not even save rooms are safe from his wrath.

these door loading/animation will be missed, even though it's time consuming, the memories, first time I saw someone else playing RE2, I saw door loading and my first impression it sets my impression of the tone and atmosphere, it's a horror game which was the first time ever horror game I've seen. by the way remember the door in RE2 after you defeat Mr.X the first time the next door you enter, it shows him getting up, now that's is kind of scary

One of my favorite doors is in Resident Evil Directors Cut; on your way back to the mansion from the garden, the game cuts to a first person view but it's clearly not the player. After some intense running we see the hand of a Hunter open a door to the exact area we're in before the camera slows and comes back to us.

That double zombie door is a good one, catches you off guard if you don't know what's coming. And spekaing of the R.P.D doors, going through them in the RE2 remake and seeing the new R.P.D hall was pretty special too. Though I particuarly like a few of the door/stair loading screens in Code Veronica, usually before something scary/intense happens and the animation is really slowed down and you can hear your character's heartbeat, as if to emphasise they know something bad's coming and they're taking the utmost care.
