"North and South", "Cranford", "Return to Cranford", "Jane Eyre (2006)" and "Lark Rise to Candleford" are some period drama shows (with varying degrees of romance) that I enjoyed that weren't included in this list. Emma (2009) will always have a special place in my heart. Romola Garai and Jonny Lee Miller's chemistry is fantastic. In the beginning episodes, they really captured how these two bicker & openly talk about everything, with no filters. You really get to feel that they've known each other all their lives. And omg that confession. And then them cuddling on a bench confessing to each other how they realized how they knew they had feelings. The 2020 version is nice, too, but I like Romola & JLM's version more.

Sisi (2009) is a two part TV movie while Sisi (2021) is a so far three season series with the fourth currently filming. All three series take vastly different approaches to Elisabeth's early years as empress. Sisi (2021) is for the people who love spicy scenes and constant drama while Sisi (2009) is for the romantics. I don't know if an English translation of Sisi (2009) exists, but Sisi (2021) has been picked up in many countries across Europe but also has an English translation that was definitely availble in Australia and Canada but I also think the US.

Does anyone know the name of the period drama set in India? A British guy went, the Indian servants got storylines, I think there was a baby without parents which was a mystery, an Indian princess came to visit who's father the guy had saved. The evil East India company was featured, there was a plot with some sort of a carriage heist of an ornate clock, there was an English female teacher...SOLVED: Beecham House
@treesab5 ай бұрын
I want to blurt out the King and I. There was a widowed English teacher who went to Siam to teach the King's son English. The English teacher was played by Jodi Foster, it was made in the 90's (very late 80's maybe) if I remember correctly. There were ongoing skirmishes with men from the East India Company and the people/King of Siam. At the end, the royal family is sent to a defensive position to be protected from slaughter. One of the betroathed wives to the king was in love with another before given to the king to marry. This wife was one of many wives, along with countless royal children. She ran off, disguised as a monk. When she was found, the king felt obligated to behead them both in a ceremonial public fashion. I remember something about the baby but it was a long time. Now, there isn't much in my description that matches yours, but for whatever reason The King and I came 13:40 to mind, even though you described the setting of India. Even though our descriptions arent matched, I wanted to toss this movie out there just in case! Good luck!

I'm sure it's fine for some people but a warning would be good for some others.
