yeah can't believe he listed the addition system as a flaw, it's the best combat mechanic in an rpg. i guess if i were incapable of doing the additions i would think of it as a flaw, but i think most can with a little patience. just like anyone else some of them seemed impossible to me at first, but i kept at it, began getting it occasional, then more and more frequently until i very rarely missed it.

Just a word about Lost Odyssey: it was exclusive to the 360 because it was financed by Microsoft, like Blue Dragon. The game didn't have bad sales for a new JRPG IP, quite the opposite. It was a best-seller when it released in Japan and sold close to 1M copies in its lifetime, accounting for physical copies alone.

I'd love to see a sequel to Crystalis and Guardian Legend. :D Legend Of Dragoon was beautiful in so many ways and while no game is perfect, it still had a great story, mechanics and characters. Refinement? Sure. Too bad they won't make a sequel, and it's their loss. Regardless of how great some of these games are, they probably didn't get sequels because they didn't meet sales expectations. Some of the later games especially were made when money became a greater reasons for sequels. If the public reception of possibilities for sequels doesn't meet expectations then games will be scrapped for sequels as well. This is why Dementium 3 still hasn't happened.

Lost Odyssey was a game I wanted to play when it was announced, until I heard it's X-box exclusive. They could release a remake as they did with The Last Remnant which was released around the same time. The only title I would like to see a sequel of is Tokyo Xanadu. The mixture of Falcom's Legend of Heroes and Ys series makes a concept with great story and gameplay.
@christianappel19984 жыл бұрын
I want a sequel of Tokyo Xanadu (ex+), too, but with (romantic) bonding events like in Cold Steel - because of the 5 girls - instead of friendship events.
@davidtimmer5963 жыл бұрын
@@christianappel1998 I also wouldn't mind a Tokyo Xanadu sequel. That one was quite the gem. The only character I didn't like in that game was Shiori. She was honestly kinda useless, and the only reason she had any semblance of relevance is at the end. Rion is best girl, because her back and forth with Kou never failed to make me laugh, and I loved her story about why she became an idol. I also like that it didn't have your typical annoying high school tropes like, the whole perverted misunderstandings, overabundance of teenage awkwardness. While there were some here and there, it never got annoying. One thing I really loved about it is that if you finish a chapter, you get some side stories focusing on the other characters. Maybe have the XRC graduate and focus on lives going forward from high school, like Kou joining Nemesis, Sora becoming a martial arts champion, Yuuki forming his own tech company, Shio working at an orphanage, Rion continuing her career as an idol. Also, hopefully it has an English dub too.

I would like a Rogue Galaxy 2, especially if they fixed some of the issues in the first game that annoyed me, but if given a choice between Rogue Galaxy 2 or Dark Cloud 3 I would choose the latter. Skies of Arcadia, Nostalgia, and Infinite Space would also all be on my list. And I don't know if you're familial with it but you like Skies of Arcadia so IMO you'll probably like Nostalgia which has gameplay a lot like I suspect a Skies of Arcadia GBA, or DS game would have had. I would love to see that game get a remake before it got a sequel, I think it would make the sequel that much greater. Another game I would love to see get remade before it got a sequel would be Xenogears but there is no way that can ever happen unfortunately. But could you imagine it getting a remake which didn't lose its funding and stuff by the second disc.

I missed Radiant Historia the first time around and only picked it up when it was released on the 3DS. I loved the game so much while playing it. There's just one thing that bothered me with it though and that's that it really doesn't have any replay value. I kinda felt forced to redo every timeline and search everything not that it wasn't all necessary. It's called Perfect Chronology after all but I didn't like the feeling that there just wasn't anything else to see. It's odd to say that as there's plenty of games that don't leave anything else to see yet I still replay them so I don't know why it bothers me about this game so much. It was just too easy to do everything perfectly since you have infinite time and chances to redo things. Maybe that's my problem. It seems to present itself as a game that needs to be played multiple times to get and see everything since it deals with time travel but then almost forces you to do and see everything the first time through. It's just my preconceived notion in regards to an RPG with time travel mechanics. Amazing game though. On a side note. Just before playing Radiant Historia I was playing Sands of Destruction on the DS. I find it funny that in two back to back games, I was fighting to stop the world from turning to sand. It's not something that comes up often in games yet two very different games on the original DS had such similar concepts for the destruction of the world. Sure there are plenty of games that have the same overall destruction method but these stuck out as it's a very specific thing that you don't see often even though they're caused by vastly different reasons. I just wish Sands of Destruction didn't just look like Xenogears and maybe took more than just the visuals from it. I need to go back and finish it though so maybe the game picks up a bit and I just haven't reached that yet.

For Legend of Dragoon....I think they could remaster/remake the game for some great success. Give it the Action RPG facelift that popular at the moment, many of game mechanics would transition very well, similar to the trials of mana remake

The difference between Zelda and Crystalis's different paths seems fairly obvious to me: the first Zelda came out four years before Crystalis and had already sold millions of copies before then. Crystalis was released shortly before the Super Nintendo, and Crystalis suffered the poor fate of many late-console releases (it didn't help that Nintendo released the phenomenal Link to the Past not long after Crystalis, either). In this case, it's like wondering why Grand Theft Auto is more popular than Saints Row; it's not a mystery. As for these games, I can't say that I'm sad that any of the ones I played haven't received a sequel. I don't think that every game needs to be a series. That said, I'm glad that davidvinc isn't enamored with Legend of Dragoon, which is one of the worst RPGs I've played, and I agree that a sequel probably could have been much better.

Rouge Galaxy was great but I liked Dark Cloud 2 System better. Skies of Arcadia is a goodie too

We'll never see a Lost Odyssey sequel. Sakaguchi has a hard focus on the Terra Battle series... That being said, we could use a Radiata Stories sequel. I think that had a lot of potential.

The Golden Sun games are more or less spiritual successors to Beyond the Beyond. They all use the same battle engine as Beyond the Beyond minus the active play system.

Why is xenogears not eligible? Xenosaga is not officially connected to it.
