The reason why Sega hasn't made a new Phantasy Star game outside of online is supposedly because they entended for 4 to be the final game in the series since it concluded the "Algo saga". Part of me respects that decision and another of me think that they could just create more Phantasy Star games set in different galaxies.
@stefanswiss37604 жыл бұрын
They still thought about making a 5th episode but could not come up with ideas. I would also like to see a sequel, I think we could still go with the Algo solar system, but you are true, it could be set on another solar system, they hinted at it with phantasy star Gaiden on game gear, that is not canon and not that interesting to play but it is definitely a possibility.

10: I would throw all of the money at Shadow Hearts getting even just remasters (I'd even pay for Koudelka, because I am a crazy person.). 9: Also would pay some dosh for more Golden Sun. As long as the art style is kept (Looking at you Tony Taka and what you did to Shining.). 8: Yeah, I got the PSP game and got to the final dungeon, fantastic little JRPG, loved it. 7: You keep naming things I want to throw money at, Grandia is a series I love, I am one of the few who likes 1 over 2. I liked Xtreme as well, because again I am a crazy person. 6: I would throw all of the money at this one......Problem is, I trust Konami to do so competently as much as I trust Todd Howard not to lie right to his customers' faces. It's one of the Few JRPGs That actually kept to a single setting and kept building on it, making the setting grander and more impressive with each game, you know until some dumbass at Konami went "Hey, what if we did a new setting despite this one not being complete?" and them actually greenlighting the dumbass's idea. We still don't even know what the world map looks like or what all 27 True Runes are. Or What happened to the Sindar. Or dealt with Harmonia. Why yes, I AM quite upset with Konami about this. Oh well, we might actually get something given what I hear about the current generation in Japan not caring about Pachinko nearly as much as the other ones did, which is why I think that new Contra exists. 5: Oh Lunar, a classic little series..........They should be required to have Gag Dubs in the style of Working Designs/Gaijinworks though otherwise it just wouldn't be the same. 4: Still haven't picked a series I disagree with yet, Wild Arms is another I'd love to see another one of. 3: We got to one I don't care that much about, But yeah It'd be nice to see it back. Who knows, maybe a reboot might make me want to care. Wouldn't be the weirdest way I got into a series (I got into Metal Gear after seeing gameplay at E3 for Phantom Pain, learned I could STEAL THE ENEMY TROOPS (I take great enjoyment from any game mechanic letting me recruit enemies.) and proceeded to preorder it, BINGE READ/WATCH LET'S PLAYS FOR EVERY METAL GEAR (Sans the AC!D games, couldn't find one of those til recently.) in preparation for it.). 2: Another favorite of mine, Breath of Fire 6 is a game I desperately want........there was no Mobile Game, that's Heresy. We keeping getting fucking Neptunia, but I can't get a RPG where I can turn into a dragon. 'Is shown Pathfinder: Kingdmaker as a Dragon Sorcerer' A JRPG 'Shown that recent Shining Game.' TONY TAKA GAMES DO NOT COUNT! 1: That's a series with potential that hasn't been touched in.....Shit how long? Yeah that'd be nice to see back, I'd like a few mechanics from all 4 of the games. 'Which would you l-' Star Ocean, not a question, I would have said Suikoden but that was already mentioned. A Few years ago I'd have said Ushiro (A Horror RPG for the PSP that was being co-made by Level 5 and Studio Ghibli where you play a creepy weird Ghost dude (Go look up the Ushiro E3 trailer, it's fucking CRAZY, I love it.) That got Canceled.)......buuuuuuuuuuut Level 5 has restarted Development for it for the Switch so.......That wish got granted (I was ecstatic when that news dropped.). As for a few that I'd like to see, but were made in the West and at least one of needs HEAVY alteration in terms of gameplay; Shadow Madness (That being the ones with heavy changes needed, though not everything.), Septerra Core, Anachronox, and Odium/Gorky 17 (It had 2 different names based on Region.). All games either JRPG in terms of gameplay and mechanics, or at least influenced by them in some way. Edit: Ogre Battle, we need this mature no anime bullshit game series back, Ogre Battle 64 is my favorite game on the 64 and one of the most interesting and unique Strategy RPGs I've ever seen.

There's a common thread here. Round the ps3 era, turn based combat fell out of favor. Most of these games would have lost there identity without it. Look at FF15. I think there was a feeling in the development community that turn based combat had been pushed to its limit, and people wanted more action. It's a shame. Golden Sun doesn't need a reboot, it just needs a 4th game to wrap up the story. Seriously, if Camelot can't guarantee a sequel happening they shouldn't end on a goddamn cliffhanger....been like 10 years since Dark Dawn ffs, just give us Golden Sun 4 already ( sadly, having Isaac playable in Smash would have helped push for a 4th game but alas Sakurai would rather throw a generic Piranha Plant on the roster and keep Isaac an Assist Trophy... ). If any Nintendo RPG franchise needs a reboot it's Paper Mario since after Super Paper Mario it turned to garbage....just go back to what made TTYD such a classic ffs, it's not rocket science... also with Wild Arms, it's fate is sadly shared by a massive chunk of Sony's IPs. For some crazy reason they just give up on their franchises, no matter how popular and beloved, after a while. Wild Arms, Jak & Daxter, Legend of Dragoon ( 1 game? really? ), Legaia, Arc the Lad, Ape Escape....hell even Ratchet & Clank at this point. Sony really doesn't even HAVE an RPG franchise going currently as far as I've noticed ( any exclusive RPGs I've seen on Playstation have been 3rd party )

After 10 the series went down. Sure we had some Sin Offs and Remakes. But if you look at Bravely Default for example you can see that they can make a good traditional Turn Based RPG. So why is it that final fantasy changed that much? Also Final Fantasy Tactics would be nice to see again. Other Games i would like to see again(some may or may not fully count as RPG however): Dragon Quest Monsters, Alundra, Boktai/Lunar Knights, Megaman Battle Network/Starforce, Paper Mario(like it was on N64 and Gamecube), Mario RPG, Blue Dragon and Legaia. My all-time favorite game that I would love to see a reboot is Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age. I love those games so much and it's right up there with Chrono Trigger IMO. And no, don't get me started with the Steam version of the game with interaction bubbles that pop up when talking to characters or interacting with objects and treasure chests. The original Chrono Trigger for the SNES did not have that. And I almost forgot: Lufia: Sins of the Sinistrals. That game had me so emotionally attached to the story and the characters just as much as it did for me in both Chrono Trigger and Golden Sun games. I would love to play Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, but because this is a DS/2DS/3DS game, I can only focus on one screen at a time.

Personally, I'd much rather see a new sequel to Valkyrie Profile than any of the series mentioned in this video, since I like the original Valkyrie Profile a lot more than any game mentioned here. However, I think it's for the best that most of these series have essentially died out, because I don't believe that true revivals are even possible for most of these games, as many of the original teams have moved on. A proper Lunar 3 or new Grandia would be great, for example, but Game Arts (the company responsible for both of these series) hasn't made an excellent game in ages, and I don't think they're even capable of it any more. Konami, of course, is similarly pathetic these days, and Suikoden lost a lot of its driving force in the middle of Suikoden III, when key staff members left the company; I think we were fortunate enough to get Suikoden V after the failure of Suikoden IV. Konami's subsequent attempts at continuing Suikoden were terrible, and it's no surprise (again, it's much more amazing that they managed to make one last good game in the series). Then, we have had sequels, or reboots, to some of these games, like Breath of Fire, and they were disasters to make us wish that they'd stay dead. That's why I prefer to let these series stay dead. I don't need new games to carry on these brand names, and I'd rather see entirely new intellectual properties enter the mix. Also, throughout this video, I kept thinking that I really want to see the Final Fantasy series get a reboot. Maybe that was against this video's rules, but I haven't played a mainline Final Fantasy game that I really liked since all the way back to Final Fantasy X, which came out ages ago. Since Final Fantasy isn't going to die any time soon and the series' peaks were higher than almost any other franchise, in my opinion, Final Fantasy is the series I most want to return to form. It sickens me to see duds like FFXV tarnish the Final Fantasy legacy.

I loved Lufia 2 so much... rented it on a whim back in the day and never wanted to return it.

Suikoden 6? Wild Arms 6? Lufia 3? Breath of Fire 7? Phantasy Star 5? Not to mention the others? If even half of these were continued, JRPG fans would be immensely happy! So many of these would sell, and I believe sell big!

Star Ocean 2. If I could remake any single game in modern HD, it would be FF VII. Since we're already getting that (supposedly), I want a remake (not port like the PSP version) of SO2. Especially with the mediocrity of 4 & 5.
@ShadowWolfRising5 жыл бұрын
The PSP version kinda was a remake, it added another playable character (Whose slot should have gone to another character, there's already 2 in the game that'd fit.).

Gotta be the Ogre Battle series for me. OB64 is one of my very favorite games, and I'd love to see it make a triumphant return.

Thank you for #1. The third game was my favorite. There was a collection game for the first three games on GBA and the fourth on Virtual Console. And FF Legends needs help too, with third one being my fave too (it was the first I played).

Man I love Grandia, both the first one as well as the second one. The first is more the typical colorful adventure while the second is a bit simpler in terms of combat and darker in terms of story, but I've played both of them multiple times and enjoyed them both. Suikoden is another one that I'd welcome with open arms, I love 1,2 and 5 while 4 was still good and 3 was ... I don't even know what to say as it isn't really bad, it's just not really my cup of tea. I like my games with a certain structure and having multiple protagonists that can all become the one and this chapter structure? Not bad, but not my type either.

Yo David! Which version of Lunar would you suggest? Among these 4 of course, PS1, PSP, GBA or DS. Also don't be so hard on Lufia GBA, I played it and loved it for some reason, the monster mechanics was fun. Also Secret of Mana 2 is getting a remake for Switch!!

At least PSO2 is finally coming to the west, so there's at least a chance for the series to regain relevancy. The others on the list, I'm not so sure, unfortunately...

Shadow Hearts. For my money, Shadow Hearts Covenant is the best PS2 RPG. No other game managed it's balance of drama and humor. I loved the engaging characters. Well, okay, I don't like Gepetto and Kurando is kind of blah too, but I love the rest of them. Even now, it's only game that I always replay in it's entirety every year.

I'd love a remake of Breath of Fire III. Seeing Ryu's Dragon Forms with modern graphics would be amazing! And Rei's Weretiger form. I still remember his scream when he transformed! Wild Arms and Phantasy Star also need to come back. Those are two sides of a coin to me. Ones a Western RPG (like wild west) and the others a sci-fi RPG. Two AMAZING combinations that work so well!

We need a new Wild Arms game or reboot/remaster of the series (preferably both). Oh and Legend of Legaia, it's battle system updated with a remaster, it doesn't get the love it deserves either.

You forgot Growlanser and La Puccelle from the games I really like but got most of them. I only know and have played Phantasy Star Online 2 on the X box... but yeah that franchise in bolth what I know and what your screen shots have shown needs to be revived. I like the "monster hunter" like Online version I played and having a traditional RPG Storyline mode would be great also.

Good list it taught me a few things. Konami needs to back Vandal Hearts and Suikoden. Breath of Fire had a lot of potential. Part 3 on ps1 was my first experience with the series and it didn't disappoint, haven't played in like 20 years.
