Sylvester Stallone is the most realistic screen fighter in world movies history ; the passion,the stamina, the tension, the physical exertion, the emotional involvement ,the combat vibes overall ,all that stuff you never get to this extent from any other guy's fights in blockbusters of the genre ; no wires assisted fighting, hardly any audovisiual effects in the full contact fights, no supernatural kind of wrestling performance like in Scwartzeneger's movies where he hardly ever bleeds, but blood ,sweat and tears in the most convincing way like in real life ; Sly to me is the ultimate deal.

8:16-12:05 gave us a real look at PTSD... I can't believe this was filmed in 1982!! I have friends who experienced this from war and their episodes vary in degrees, but I appreciate how they captured this. There are so many vets, some homeless, some in jail, some rich, some poor, but the PTSD is no stranger to any of them. I go out of my way to acknowledge all vets and conversate when I can. Much respect - war is real. Soldiers have no political agenda, civil, racial, nor sexual agenda - they fight for ALL of us... salute my brothers and sisters. Thank you for your services.

I think the realest and most relatable part of the ptsd scene to me is that it’s a monologue. I’m a Marine Vet btw, it just really struck me how his meltdown is him asking frantic questions for an explanation to him reminiscing of better times, to the turning point. I definitely understand trying to hold down a job and being out of place, especially so with Rambo being a Vietnam vet. My major point really, is that he gets no response. There’s no answer fitting or satisfying enough to answer those kinds of questions. There’s not much you can say to people in a perspective like that, however what can be done is supporting and checking on each other. Feel like I’m rambling but wanted to point that out 💯

Rambo's Meltdown might be the most iconic moment of the entire series, if not one of the most iconic in film. not may movies (hell, not many people) were willing to acknowledge PTSD back then, let alone talk about it. and you gotta wonder how many veterans of previous wars, Korea, WWII, hell, going back to the beginning of time, suffered in silence and drowned their sorrows in drugs and alcohol because it wasn't socially acceptable to talk about the horrors, to acknowledge they were scared, because they'd be ostracized as a Coward. Even men like Audie Murphy, the highest decorated US soldier of WWII, suffered from what they saw for years afterwards. a shiny piece of metal and a fancy ribbon don't make the nightmares go away.
@essaqueta61954 жыл бұрын
... if you then consider that pain, be it psychological pain or physical pain anchors even in our genes and gets passed on from generation to generation, if its not dealt with, you can imagine what types of films some people must have in their head all life long. trauma does not end with the end of the trauma.

First Blood is a great movie. It highlights PTSD in a way that was unheard of back then. I like the novel it's based on, but I feel like Stallone made a good choice in making Rambo more sympathetic. In the novel Rambo kills almost everyone he runs into. I still love the novel but the movie was better for highlighting PTSD. Which was especially important considering it was the early 80's and Vietnam was still fresh in peoples minds. Vietnam vets were treated terribly for a long time.

Great video! I love the Rambo series and these fight scenes were definitely some of my favorites. I especially enjoyed the scene in Rambo: First Blood where Rambo takes on the entire police force by himself. It really showcases his combat skills and determination. However, I do think it's important to remember that Rambo's experiences in the Vietnam War and the PTSD that he struggles with are a big part of what drives him to be such a formidable fighter. So while these scenes are certainly thrilling to watch, they also highlight the devastating effects of war and the challenges that veterans face when they return home.

I wish the sequels were more like first blood. Remember when he had to surrender after being surrounded by cops instead of taking on an army of tanks and a helicopters without a scratch. Rambo felt real because he took damage, it wasn’t like Arnold’s commando and the rest of the movies from the time where they would walk in a battlefield and no one would land a shot. He would get tired, he needed clothes for the weather, he had to steal his guns and hide from the enemy since he was just as vulnerable to bullets as anyone else. But after first blood he can take out armies with a single bow arrow and his ridiculous arsenal of weapons. His knife which used to work as first aid just became a comically large knife made to look cool when stabbing people. He used to have ptsd and tried not to kill people if he saw no need to, but after first blood it’s just a war and everyone he meets is an enemy so it’s ok to kill them. They really just made a new franchise after first blood and while I still enjoy most of it they don’t really compare
