While I love all these moments, I think the one that hit me hardest was when David told Stevie he was engaged. Her reaction showed so much honest love and happiness for David and Patrick, but also the realization that David was moving on and she wasn't. I think that Emily Hampshire was amazing in that scene. Also, to find that Patrick had gone to Stevie for her blessing just was the candle on the cake.

@@hafsamumtaz1 That Stevie was stuck in the same town that she grew up it, stuck in the same job that she had before she met David. David found great love and was getting married and she wasn't. I was sad that Alexis and Ted couldn't make it work in the end. However, that was the beauty of the show: it showed that sometimes it works out (i.e., David and Patrick), and sometimes, it doesn't, just like real life. This show was so well done! ❤️👍🏻👏🏻
@Lupin7884 жыл бұрын
I choose to believe the writers left open the possibility of Alexis and Ted getting back together in the future. Although they knew they loved each other, they also realized they weren't at the right stage in their lives to be together permanently. In season 5, Patrick wondered how things would have turned out if he and David had met in high school. David replied that they met at just the right time. If this show comes back in the form of a movie, I hope they revisit the Alexis & Ted relationship. Maybe Ted gets inadvertently caught up in some international intrigue and Alexis has to use all her skills and contacts as a global traveler to rescue him. ;1

I literally cried through Stevie's entire solo in Cabaret, TWICE. Being a huge theatre nerd, seeing a normally reserved person blossom into a performer is going to punch me in the feels every time. And come on, the way the song perfectly encompassed everything that was going on in her real life...all the raw emotion coming out word by word...it was amazing! Even the little moments of her looking back at Moira for reassurance and David/Johnny's faces throughout the song...and of course David proudly exclaiming "That's my friend!" to everyone around him during the applause ; what more can you ask for with good character development??

About 20 years ago or maybe 30... I brought a musical to a choir I sang with - and suggested quite strongly that it was worth doing. i wasn't going to be singing in it, or directing or anything important but over the years I think i had earned the right to be heard. So they listened, and we talked about it and the decision was made to go with it. The musical was "Rent" - a very potent setting of "La Boheme", set in New York's "gay village" at the height of the AIDS epidemic. the relationship between David and Patrick brought back so much of what "we" were going through at that point... I like to think that Rent helped pave the way for shows like this episode, that loving, regardless of who you love, is the most important thing. THank you for this.

Two of my favorite happy cry moments were: 1) When they're at the Hawaiian themed party and Johnny mentions David being pansexual. Roland Schitt thinks it has to do with a cookware fetish (🤣), but then he very lucidly says - while he STOPS EATING (big moment for him) - that *we need to allow our kids to love who they love.* Then he says, "Who said that?" 🤗🤗🤗 2) When David says he loves Patrick and then sits in his lap. Something about that made my heart sing because movies and TV usually act like they can't show beautiful, intimate moments (non-sexual) between men. It was exactly what a woman might do with her man and *it's about time ALL relationships are given the freedom to be expressed in loving ways.*

Filming the reaction of the audience at the open mic first was brilliant.
