@@maddi294 Yep. I understand people (and Miranda) being mad about the bagel scene, but not about sending Aidan for help. Carrie tried to tell Miranda over the phone that she might not be able to come immediately. Miranda hung up the phone mid-sentence instead of listening and working for a solution together. If it was Carrie who had done that, people would be raging "Carrie just expects her friends will drop everything for her." Carrie has her bad moments and tendencies , but what bothers me, is that people allow the other three to have their selfish or annoying moments, but if it was Carrie doing the same thing, it's baaaad.

You forgot the scene in the "Freaks" episode where Carrie has a string of bad dates and then meets a decent guy with a Tweety tattoo. But she's so convinced that he's hiding something that she tries breaking into a locked box in his apartment after he leaves her alone. He returns and catches her trying to break into the box. He silently opens it and it is full of completely innocuous memorabilia. She knows to leave immediately. That scene was so painful to me that I would have put it as number one.

That was a hilarious episode. I think they did that on purpose to show how women can sometimes go crazy when a man seems 'too perfect' we have to figure out what's wrong with them. Then, when Carrie finally meets a normal guy she becomes the 'freak' and ruins it. So funny!

She could have (1) sold her shoes (2) stayed with Aiden, a good man, so she never would have had to move in the first place (3) moved to a different apartment. She turned down a perfectly nice place due to lack of closet space. Does she really need that many clothes? She could also move to Brooklyn for a more spacious apartment. (4) worked out a deal with Aiden to give her more time to buy her apartment. In the meantime, save up her money and get a second job. As a columnist, she could try freelancing for more writing work other than just her column. She doesn't cook at home at all and she takes cabs everywhere in a city with ample public transportation. (5) taken the offer from Big

I'm SOOOOOOO HAPPY that you guys made the No. 1 spot not just Carrie cheating on Aidan with Big but the fact that she insisted on CONTINUING A "FRIENDSHIP" with Big after getting back together with Aidan, which SHE wanted!!! In what demented-ass narcissistic shitty-ass person alternate universe do they do that?! Big calling her house late at night to discuss his "relationship problems"?! (And not even having the DECENCY TO HANG UP when your man answers the phone!), and the slew of other ways she disrespected Aidan and their relationship after they reconciled. She wore her engagement ring around her neck, buried it under a million pearl necklaces, then FORGOT to share the news of her engagement with Sharon Susan IN THE PRESENCE OF HER FIANCÉ!!! Just typing that I feel my blood pressure rising! I can't watch that scene without wanting to slap her through the screen! And let us not forget that in order to buy back the apartment that AIDAN BOUGHT FOR THEM because her broke and financially irresponsible ass spent $40K ON SHOES, she then turns around and borrows the money from the SAME MAN SHE CHEATED ON HIM WITH!!! 🤯🤯🤯 Carrie's selfishness and her level of disrespect toward Aidan during their second go-round is simply astounding and, in my opinion, worse than her actually cheating on him.

the Episode "The Freak Show" in Season 2. Carrie is dating this really nice guy she met in the Park and they have witty banter about why the opposite sex are so freaky and weird. They spend a wonderful night together at his apartment, and in the morning, he meets up with some old writer friends of his for breakfast. With Carrie all alone, she ransacks his apartment, wondering what his "hidden/freaky" secret is. She finds a small, wooden locked box and in the process of trying to open it, her new beau walks in on her trying to open it. He shows her that it's boy scout badges (if memory serves). She never sees him again...

The funny thing about the bi episode is that Ally McBeal (which was also about a neurotic single woman and was popular during the late 90s) had the exact same plotline around the same time where Ally gets involved with a guy who she learns is bisexual and can't get over the idea of him being with other men.

@@raraavis7782 it was the "Pursuit of Loneliness" episode in season 3 (just months before SATC season 3) where Ally is interested in a handsome man but learns he's bisexual and suddenly is unable to take him seriously because she believes he's going to run off with another guy.

@@nah....6151 Ohhhh.....right. The cute barista/judge! I totally had a thing for that guy 😅. Can't believe, I forgot! I even remember puzzling, about how I would have reacted in her place. I mean, it was the late 90s and I was just a teen, so what did I know about bisexuality? Which, btw makes me really resent people being so damn judgemental about these old tv series and their characters. These were different times. We didn't have access to all the information young people have nowadays. You couldn't necessarily talk about stuff like that, even with your friends, either. And there was no damn internet, yet. Or not really, anyway. Her reaction would seem narrow minded and judgemental to most of us today. Of course, it would. But so many people fail to understand, that they would have made the same decision, if they had grown up back then. You can't say, a series was 'bad' for having a character react in a realistic way....even if the reaction is off-putting to us now. And I know, both Ally McBeal and SatC made me think A Lot. About friendships, relationships, my attitude towards 'class' and money. Precisely because the characters did and say questionable things at times.

Currently re-watching the series. And Carrie really is one of the most horrible people ever. She's selfish, entitled, and judgmental. She makes everything about herself. In reality, her three friends would not stay friends with her for long. In the first season, she treated Big horribly and acted like a spoilt brat whilst doing it. She was awful to Aidan. She doesn't have many redeemable qualities at all.

Carrie saying "you have to forgive me" is justified in that Aiden took her back and proceeded to treat her like crap. She needed him to actually forgive her and stop punishing her, or not take her back at all. Of course we all know the whole re-do was an exercise in futility. Aiden was better off without her.

Although I agree with that, Carrie and Charlotte's scene where she's upset because she didn't offer her the money was so uncomfortable. I gotta explain something to people who weren't adults (and maybe teenagers) at the time this series was on. At the time, telling your friend: 'Hey, I'm mad at you' wasn't normal. It was on TV and movies, but in real life, no. Especially in a society like theirs. They were a step below from New York socialité (now they're supposedly that), and appearance was EVERYTHING. That didn't change much except that some concepts were different. Expressing your feelings was considered "weak" and tacky in this case. Today, expressing your feelings isn't a thing, but the HOW. So it was seen, for some (maybe the ones who were that part of society), like an act of bravery from Carrie to confront her friend and tell her, "Just so you know, I wouldn't have taken your money. It's just how you judged me with that look like I'm not good for it that bothered me." If she said that or not even being so defensive. Say, "Hey, what's with the face? I know you shouldn't mix money and friends, but what's with the attitude?" things would've been different.
@emilychristina3172

Yeah, I feel like people misinterpret this scene. Carrie wasn’t mad at Charlotte for not giving her money, and she wasn’t asking for her money, she was upset because Charlotte was not supporting her the way Sam and Miranda were. Carrie would’ve never taken their money (and she didn’t). Then Charlotte announces at the most inappropriate time that she’s willfully “ volunteering” (though I do understand why she’s doing so). And then noisily sucking on her straw. It was just a snotty thing to do. Yes, Carrie made mistakes, and she admits in the episode that she did. Charlotte made mistakes too. She quit her job once she got married without thinking things through. She just assumed she’d get pregnant and that’d be the end of it. She realized too late that she shouldn’t have pinned all her hopes and dreams on a man. All of the characters on SATC made mistakes and were complicated, that’s what made the show so fabulous!

Carrie's behavior during the Bisexual episode was revolting ...and was when it aired in 2000. She's supposed to be a SEX COLUMNIST IN NYC--yet somehow male bisexuality is treated like a Boogeyman?? Oh and her stalking of Big and his mother was REPREHENSIBLE. She couldn't respect that boundary, then had the gall to pretend Big was wrong for introducing her as "a friend" (when again, she was caught STALKING THEM). And she used that as the reason for their first break up. How was that on Big for "lack of commitment", again??

When I look back at shows that I loved in a different period of my life, I try to bring historical empathy to repeat viewings. All the things we are "shocked" at now barely registered when the show first aired. And the conversation about whether bisexuality really exist is literally still happening at any gathering as we speak! I liked the show because the characters were complex and messy, like our real lives.

@@Me-hs4jj No... that's not what I said. YOU hold your own baby (as a mother). If you want to put the baby down, you find somewhere suitable. Not the sink, but the floor might be ok if it's out of the way and safe for the baby. People often put babies on the floor - it's not going to cause harm just to be on the floor. But if you want other people to hold your baby for you, you at least have to ASK if they want to! And if they say no, it's your problem. Ask someone else or hold the baby yourself or find somewhere safe to put them down YOURSELF. No responsible parent just dumps a baby on other people without warning or consideration of their feelings! Only entitled parents behave like that. :(
